I thought I just got done reading we’re leaving Iran

Whoppee we’re all gonna die
195
FeriQueen Apr 2, 2026 +126
And it’s one, two, three, what are we fighting for? Nobody actually seems to know. Aside from distracting people’s attention from the Epstein files, that is.

No-Profession5134 Apr 2, 2026 +34
Isreal has politely fear mongered to Conservatives about Iran(with no proof) for 40 years.... and now we have a President stupid enough to beleive it..... for reasons....(Definately convenient as a distraction for kid diddling.) The Damage that has been done to our country is incalcuable. No "Conservative" on either side of the aisle can be forgiven for this Treason.

No. More Wars!

America first? No, more wars!

gta0012 Apr 2, 2026 +829
The war will be done in 2-3 weeks. Will have boots on the ground in 2-3 weeks. Going to bomb them to the stone ages for 2-3 weeks. Accomplished everything we needed to do in 2-3 weeks. Forever knows as the 2-3 weeks war.

PippyHooligan Apr 2, 2026 +287
He says two weeks more than that fat lady in Total Recall.

lafolieisgood Apr 2, 2026 +73
So you know that we are fucked when he says three weeks.

Best i can do is a 3 day special military opperation

If we ever needed an AI video of something, it's Trump as the fat Total Recall lady
17
QbertsRube Apr 2, 2026 +13
Everything is perpetually happening in about 2 weeks and every lawsuit is for $10 billion. It's like he has the brain of an infant and has only learned those two numbers.

Get ready for a surprise!
7
benjamoo Apr 2, 2026 +108
Obviously he'll end the war when Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz. But he's willing to end the war even if they don't, but also he'll continue the war even if they do open it
108
LonePaladin Apr 2, 2026 +42
He also said it'll "open naturally". It's not a flower.
42
Brilliant-Option-526 Apr 2, 2026 +14
Where have we heard that before...? "It's going to disappear. One day, it's like a miracle, it will disappear."
14
brickne3 Apr 2, 2026 +8
I thought yesterday he wanted everyone else to open it and "get their own oil". Yesterday was yesterday... Is this like that Eminem and Rhianna song about domestic violence where he murders her and burns the house down? Cuz I think it might be.

So true. The sanewashing of the deranged, incoherent and pants shitting Trump is disgusting. Truly pathetic.
62
brickne3 Apr 2, 2026 +37
I mean politics aside, this is an absolutely terrible thing for everyone on the planet's mental health. Like dealing with this guy's escalating whims is seriously doing damage for the future of our *species* because kids everywhere are going to think this is *normal*.

And yet Christians across America keep supporting him.
2081
flatfisher Apr 2, 2026 +954
The irony is he is the walking definition of the Antichrist: he is the most powerful man in the world deceiving believers by pretending to be the leader of Christianity, while embodying and pushing for the inversion of every Christian value (love, empathy, kindness, ...).
954
DarkenRaul1 Apr 2, 2026 +253
Not that ironic, actually. Many U.S. evangelical leaders see Trump as the Antichrist due to the reasons you noted and are supporting him *because* of that belief, because the Antichrist is the figure that will bring upon the rapture (their ascension into heaven at the arrival of the second coming of Christ, with the assumption that this will happen before the tribulations laid out in the Book of Revelations) sooner.
253
justinfinity64 Apr 2, 2026 +356
It seems like supporting the antichrist should be a surefire way to get eternal damnation. But, what do I know? I'm just a godless heathen.
356
R3Dpenguin Apr 2, 2026 +169
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they try to explain to God they thought they had found a loophole in the Bible.

"hey man, I know you're infallible but we think we found this tiny little loo-" *Gets smited immediately*
100
noonenotevenhere Apr 2, 2026 +63
If they get to say sorry and pray for forgiveness for insta-heaven, I think the whole thing is a loophole. Nothing says 'don't take responsibility' like say sorry and move on no matter the offense. I wouldn't respect a god that accepted 'my bad' and granted eternal heaven for epstein and his best buddy after 60 years of being horrible and evil.
63
iDownvoteToxicLeague Apr 2, 2026 +23
Yeah if all these people are in Heaven I’m not interested.
23
paulsoleo Apr 2, 2026 +10
Man, that really paints a good argument. It’s always about lack of personal accountability with these people. It’s always “God’s plan,” or “I was led astray” or “I was a victim of temptation.” Always the victim, always the good person—never the actual perpetrator of the preventable and horrible thing.
10
alltherobots Apr 2, 2026 +66
They’re kinda’ glossing over the canonical fact that those who worship / empower the antichrist are to be left behind.
66
whatisitallabout123 Apr 2, 2026 +18
That is the purpose of a deathbed confession or perfect act of contrition, it absolves you of your sins and you don't get left behind. Sure, it's cutting it close by waiting until the end, but it's the Christian get-out-of-jail-free card, so they are still "playing by the rules". This option must be very appealing to sinners who can't stop sinning, or just think their sins are as bad as others, so they won't stop until they are exposed or shamed publicly.
18
green_pachi Apr 2, 2026 +21
Not a believer anymore and I don't know about Evangelicals but the way I was taught at Catholic catechism as a child was that with no real remorse there's no forgiveness.
21
Wonckay Apr 2, 2026 +8
Evangelicals teach the same. I’d think all Christians have to since doing otherwise would mean bearing false witness to God.
8
LettuceSea Apr 2, 2026 +66
Yup, he is quite literally doing exactly what the bible said the antichrist would do.
66
banjist Apr 2, 2026 +24
The Left Behind series was so damaging to a generation of evangelicals. My manager at a gas station job had signed first editions of every book in the series, and he let me read them. I read the whole series. They are some of the worst books ever written. The left behind movie where the one guy is witnessing to the Antichrist in the oval office when a missile comes flying in through the window and blows everybody up was pretty cool, though.

A number of the MAGA Christian cultists are well aware of this and are embracing him as a harbinger of Jesus’ return.

Most Christian's in America barely read their bible or know who Paul is. They'd let ICE capture Jesus.  Edit: A lot of you are missing the point: the Christianity many follow in America is pretty much a series of lies- whether from Paul or James.

Reading comprehension levels in the US are abysmal. 21% of Americans are functionally illiterate.
70
Undernown Apr 2, 2026 +65
Closer to 30% really, unless you consider adults only being able to read books meant for toddlers to be literate. Gets even worse when you zoom out: > About 130 million U.S. adults (54% of those aged 16–74) read below a sixth-grade level, according to modeled estimates. - [source](https://www.nu.edu/blog/49-adult-literacy-statistics-and-facts/) For reference, those people can't even understand sub-text or sarcasm. They read everything at face value.
65
commander_hugo Apr 2, 2026 +28
So If you believed everything Trump says and took it at face value he'd be one of the greatest presidents of all time...
28
wbruce098 Apr 2, 2026 +17
Yes. So long as you don’t pay attention to your fuel and grocery and healthcare costs and literally everything except what trump says.
17
QbertsRube Apr 2, 2026 +7
Well Trump said the good parts of the economy are him and the bad parts are Biden, take that libturdcrat! (hate that I need an /s here because 30-40% of the country actually believe that)
7
Clueless_Otter Apr 2, 2026 +9
To be fair, "grade-level" reading levels are kinda misleading. Most news articles, for example, are written at a 6th-8th grade level. So are most things you'd be reading at most jobs. 6th grade is a bit on the lower end, but really as long as you're reading at like an ~8th grade level, you can be a perfectly functioning member of society without really missing much. It just means that you won't fully understand complex novels is all.

Do we have a name for when organisations push their political aims by attacking civilian targets specifically to cause mass terror in the population at large, thereby sapping their will to resist? And if we do, are the people who use these methods generally considered good guys?

He's completely desperate. He wants to bail and dump it on europe to clean up. Absolute moron.
2166
Confident_Incident43 Apr 2, 2026 +874
He can't bail and dump it on Europe/the world. Iran will setup a toll and they've priced it at 2 million dollars per ship. I've read somewhere that it is essentially $1 per barrell. I'm sure every country will pay it so the can continue to grow. If Trump allows that it goes against the core of US foreign policy for decades, which is the petrodollar and freedom of maritime trade. Gulf countries and Israel would not allow that. They would basically be bankrolling Iran's recovery into something stronger. Trump is in a bind for sure.
874
No_Character_5315 Apr 2, 2026 +502
He will bail and when exactly what you've predicted happens he will blame it on all the other countries for failing. Trump literally said he's destroyed all Iran's military capabilities and they have nothing left. He's basically saying it's a cake walk for other counties to reopen the strait. It's his business as usual way of doing things when something fails blame someone else.
502
MobiusNaked Apr 2, 2026 +130
He thinks its simply bomb all the launchers on the coast. Ok f*****, what about a drone launched from a house 200 miles inland. Small boats with a rocket launcher? They only need to hit 1 ship a week.
130
ThePublikon Apr 2, 2026 +60
> Small boats with a rocket launcher This is really the "ultimate" threat: an enemy that can spend basically no money disabling hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment. In a war of attrition, even (especially?) the most powerful adversaries struggle against that type of asymmetric guerrilla warfare.
60
NateTheRoofer Apr 2, 2026 +35
Almost like every competent military mind for the last 47 years envisioned this *exact* scenario when they decided not to invade.

ThePublikon Apr 2, 2026 +17
"Never get involved in a land war in Asia" is *the* classic blunder!
17
nighthawk_something Apr 2, 2026 +84
You only need to threaten 1 ship a week. No insurance company is going to take that risk
84
pizza_the_mutt Apr 2, 2026 +220
From what I've heard as long as Iran has a pointy stick left they can threaten the straits and insurance companies will not cover ships, so the ships won't go. You simply can't bomb them enough to force the straits open. The only way to open up shipping is for Iran to say "ok". Trump simply doesn't know how to deal with this because bullying and threats don't work.
220
deknegt1990 Apr 2, 2026 +108
As long as Iran can strap a moped engine to a wing with a bomb on it, they're an effective threat to merchant shipping in the area.
108
premature_eulogy Apr 2, 2026 +33
Just look at the Houthis and Suez.
33
IntrepidOption31415 Apr 2, 2026 +39
After reading your comment i can finally see it realistically.  Trump can at some point exit and claim he weakened Iran tremendously and all goals have been accomplished. He can then blame europe and nato for not cleaning up the strait of hormuz 'when it would have been ridiculously easy to do so'.  Regime change was never the goal.  Oil prices will be then blamed on nato for not talking responsibility and trump will try to walk away unharmed.  I wonder what he'll call the 2 million passage tax.  Maybe 'lazy nato tax'? Something like that, but angrier and more offensive.
39
CountVonTroll Apr 2, 2026 +60
> If Trump allows that it goes against the core of US foreign policy for decades, which is the petrodollar and freedom of maritime trade. Fortune has a really good explanation for [how this works](https://fortune.com/2026/03/24/iran-hormuz-petrodollar-national-debt-trump/) and why it's important. There's a nice quote attributed to de Gaulle that summarizes this "exorbitant privilege" that d'Estaign described in a concise manner: *"We send them goods, and they send us printed paper in return."* One of the many things Trump doesn't understand is that it's not the Americans that are getting "scammed" when they have a trade deficit. They're the ones who are actually receiving tangible goods. The foreign investment that [necessarily](https://www.stlouisfed.org/publications/page-one-economics/2025/oct/what-is-the-balance-of-payments) (note the beautiful interactive chart near the bottom!) has to balance out the current account is also helping him finance the federal budget deficit and is keeping interest rates low. He's really playing with fire here, and he has no idea. > Gulf countries and Israel would not allow that. They would basically be bankrolling Iran's recovery into something stronger. For practical purposes, would also come close to recognizing the Strait as under Iranian administration, or even sovereignty.
60
Sinaneos Apr 2, 2026 +124
I think people underestimate how much a clusterfuck the USD would be after losing the petrodollar status. There would be nothing backing it up, the US has lost the trust of all allies (EU, Canada, gulf), and the debt is increasing exponentially. Yes trump will probably leave in 2 years, but his 2nd term proved that the US might elect a person that backs off from all agreements and start wars based on a whim (driven by a certain other entity ofc, and some files that we still haven't forgotten).
124
Particular-Cow6247 Apr 2, 2026 +85
ýou made one mistake there, they wont ask for dollar but yuan
85
ThisTheRealLife Apr 2, 2026 +21
only let ships past, that paid for their oil in yuan (however you'd control that) not an unlikely scenario
21
Particular-Cow6247 Apr 2, 2026 +17
think that would be hard to control overall cuz not everyone buys from iran... but just let only those ships past that paid a toll in yuan.... you could say its kinda a third party "tariff" ....
17
RN2FL9 Apr 2, 2026 +26
Highly doubt they'll use dollars if Iran gets to do this. They could probably use yuan more since China doesn't have them sanctioned.
26
Dripdry42 Apr 2, 2026 +10
Oh, it gets better than that. What Iran can do is they can charge that toll but only for oil headed to the US, or only for oil in a certain currency… They could literally ruin the Petro dollar! They could make everyone pay in a different currency…. THAT would be a master move
10
MirabelleApricot Apr 2, 2026 +13
I don't know if the current American politicians realize that if their currency loses its international status, it will ruin the USA.
13
kuldan5853 Apr 2, 2026 +26
Honestly, if we're talking $1 per barrel then yes, lets just pay the toll. We pay tolls for other stuff and other places all the time. No sane European country will go in with military force over a $1 a barrel toll. This might backfire spectacularly for Trump when everyone just decides to solve this issue diplomatically by paying Iran.
26
evilspyboy Apr 2, 2026 +146
And we are another month closer to those US midterms... but he is indeed a f'kstick. It will be studied in history books as to how the US managed to elect him twice.
146
Some_Conference2091 Apr 2, 2026 +190
In 2016 Hillary Clinton got more votes than Trump. We are a failure as a democracy and we'll need constitutional reform to prevent the next Trump. Assuming we make it that far. EDIT: Clinton received 3 million more votes than Trump in 2016. So she won by 2.1% of the vote. The electoral college system is responsible for this anti-democratic result. In 2024 Trump won with 1.5% of the vote.
190
brandbaard Apr 2, 2026 +48
TBF you don't even need constitutional reform, we just need literally one more state to enact the national popular vote interstate compact, and the ones that have it pending to finalize. Then it's fixed and the EC can effectively f*** off.
48
Some_Conference2091 Apr 2, 2026 +40
{Edit: The national interstate compact is a good thing I'm all for it} The Electoral College is just one of the problems we're facing.  The Senate is also an undemocratic institution. California's 40 million people have the same representation as Wyomings 0.5 million.  That's one of the reasons we can't pass meaningful legislation in this country.   The SCOTUS is corrupt and packed with extremist partisans who have made the president into someone who is above the law.  There is so much money in politics that energy corporations have literally written their own regulations.  I think constitutional reform might be the only way to safeguard democracy by fixing the many problems the US has.
40
ThisTheRealLife Apr 2, 2026 +46
She got so much flack for her saying "basket of deplorables" and yet, everyday I think she was right
46
Some_Conference2091 Apr 2, 2026 +25
_You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables._ \   - Hillary Clinton  She came out later and said she isn't saying literally 50% of his supporters are deplorables, that she was specifically talking about racist groups giving full throated support to Trump.
25
QbertsRube Apr 2, 2026 +21
In hindsight, "half" was pretty goddamn generous of her.
21
hypatianata Apr 2, 2026 +14
The whole quote was much more reasonable than Republican media and influence campaigns made it out to be, but the strawmanned version doesn’t even seem like a stretch anymore.
14
sugartrouts Apr 2, 2026 +8
Sure, the original intent of the electoral college is distorted in how it applies today, but also this election should ***never have been close***. That Trump was even allowed to run after attempting to ***overthrow an election and install himself as leader*** reveals just how non-existent our defense against a fascist takeover is. If Trump, his administration, everyone in DOGE and ICE, and bad-faith media that spreads misinformation are not given REAL consequences (see: prison and/or complete dissolution and lifelong ban from any kind of political position), it doesn't matter if we manage to claw back power for another few years. Either we create an actual, working defense against this kind of thing, or democracy is cooked (and if I'm being honest, it probably already is).

Tons of people got fired or sidelined at the onset. Some resigned themselves instead of having to work with them.
21
FitIndependent9764 Apr 2, 2026 +27
Ask Congressional Republicans why. It’s on them. Congress hasn’t done much of anything at all.
27
RickSt3r Apr 2, 2026 +5
The check is congress and they are not doing their job. Speaker Johnson is a weak fool who give all power to the executive. Unlike the dems who have one holdout for things like childcare credits the GOP gets in line and votes in unison for those campaign contributions from Israel.

Darkeyescry22 Apr 2, 2026 +27
I don’t understand what you’re expecting anyone to do. Anyone in the military who tried to slow this down would be punished. Tulsi, the head of US intelligence, has already publicly stated that Trump invaded Iran on false pretenses and implicitly accused him of being a puppet of Israel. No one cared.

"That's uncomfortable for me to think about right now. Please suffer somewhere not in front of cameras. Don't you realise I'm tired of living through historical events?" - The first world
82
BobbiePinns Apr 2, 2026 +45
You know what, I *am* tired of living through historical events and being some schlub on an island in the southern pacific ocean that can do nothing about any of it. I'd really love it if we, as in all of us, could just stop being such cunts to each other. I don't think thats ever going to happen though.
45
Forward-Surprise1192 Apr 2, 2026 +8
Agreed it won’t stop. We need another reset or world war for people to be nicer after, technology to improve, and by extension fix the environment and improve human civilization
8
MackenzieRaveup Apr 2, 2026 +7
> I'd really love it if we, as in all of us, could just stop being such cunts to each other. Careful. The last guy who said that got nailed to some scrap lumber.

Seemed to skip over the important bit, like why we're doing that to begin with Oh yeah, I forgot. The Epstein files and Trump diddled kids. Now he's a war criminal that diddles kids
824
Fitz911 Apr 2, 2026 +123
Did you see any Epstein related stuff the last few weeks? No? That's because he knows what he is doing and sadly the people are too stupid. He's doing fine.
123
Forward-Surprise1192 Apr 2, 2026 +45
Even if a video came out of him raping and murdering a group of babies that then somehow survived and became adults who testified, it wouldn’t matter. He would not get impeached or resign. He would pardon himself and continue as normal, with much of the country still supporting him
45
Fitz911 Apr 2, 2026 +16
But we can agree it would be two crazy weeks. Just imagine the cool comments on listnook. So many sooo cool memes. A lot of really! strongly worded letters. And at least twelve headlines how this is really, really, really pinky promise his downfall. Followed by a war with probably France or Liechtenstein. Followed by "Boots on the ground?" "Why is fuel so expensive?" "Why doesn't France help the US bombing Paris? They have airfields right around the corner. We have to ask ourselves if they are still out friends. Anyway we call them freedome fries again."
16
MagnusCthulhu Apr 2, 2026 +42
We're gonna be in this f****** war forever, aren't we? Jesus Christ.

8
markycrummett Apr 2, 2026 +254
He’s doing well tbf, very little Epstein headlines recently
254
Blank3k Apr 2, 2026 +65
Almost as if Epstein was a mossad operative & Israel holds the original files, and now provided Trump plays along and occasionally begs for Netanyahu to have a pardon they'll keep it under wraps.
65
Forward-Surprise1192 Apr 2, 2026 +40
Idk why people think the files matter? We’ve already seen that the people with the power to currently do anything won’t do it. Maybe in the next administration if it’s blue or after midterms. However if new evidence came out today of him doing something worse than the others he’d pardon himself and not resign. The senate or congress will not impeach him. They didn’t for any of the horrible stuff we’ve heard already. What makes Israel’s blackmail different?
40
Gabzagul Apr 2, 2026 +74
I have a question. What happened to all the court cases against him before his second term? And if he finishes this term, will they be brought back? Does he have immunity only because he is the POTUS?
74
marawki Apr 2, 2026 +57
They are paused until after presidency
57
GrippingHand Apr 2, 2026 +17
Charges were dropped for various reasons. If the statutes of limitations haven't run out, prosecutors might be able to start over, but I don't think there is a process that was paused in a way that it can just be resumed. It's possible that fresh charges related to his blatant corruption could be filed.
17
HumaDracobane Apr 2, 2026 +23
Is this person senile? Yesterday he wanted to back out, now he wanted to bom them. Two days ago it was about to land invade some islands, but previously they already won the war. I dont understand how MAGA can look at this and go "Yep. Exactly what we voted for". If it was Biden MAGA would have the roads paved with all this absurd things. He is worst than my nephew when he was 4 years old playing Mario Kart in the switch bouncing from side to side of the track without advancing but thinking he was winning.

The Trump technique of big and scary announcement seem to work less and less. Everyone knows about the Taco President, no one react to anything he says anymore ( except the market)
45
fuck_ur_portmanteau Apr 2, 2026 +11
Next he’s going to announce (fake) peace on Easter Monday, isn’t he.
11

Sadly I think next hes going after a weak country to get his pathetic performance on Iran off headlines from the media... Like Cuba.

This is a grift. He says the world is ending on a Thursday, then the market crashes, he says the war is over on a Sunday so it rebounds on Monday. This is all market manipulation
14
EirHc Apr 2, 2026 +13
> bomb Iran "back to stone ages" Would imply bombing all their infrastructure like water desalination and powerplants? So... major war crimes. Might as well just advertise you're raping all their women and children while you're at it. Would be on brand for the child rapist.
13
Yossie Apr 2, 2026 +12
Nice, glad I´m not american and its not my tax dollars in use here. But what was the goal in all this again?

They’ll do it to the whole world to avoid the Epstein files.. which is wild because we all already know he rapes children.

Surely the Iranians will thank us for this
13
MVmikehammer Apr 2, 2026 +32
Having heard this kind of rhetoric before from a head of state, I guess it is time for American citizens to decide which of them will be the 1.3 million to die or get maimed over the next 5 years.
32
nfactor Apr 2, 2026 +133
Do you want more terrorists? Because that's how you get more terrorists. It's like they think they are playing a pay-to-win video game instead of murdering real people.

Is he doing these announcements so his mates can pump and dump the oil stocks?
10
eric_ts Apr 2, 2026 +33
Actual stone-age bombing would require glassing the place with fusion bombs. He isn't going to be doing that (I f****** hope). They are just going to break more things and kill more people conventionally... or not. Who the f*** knows? Tomorrow, he might not even remember this speech.
