Well the good news is that we’re blowing up off the shelf drones with $25,000,000 missiles.

I wonder if rural conservatives are tired of winning yet.

They still think Trump is doing what needs to be done to make things better in the future, and if it makes things worse right now that is Biden/Obama/Clinton/ The Democrats fault. How sad is that?

That’s almost right. They think he’s doing what needs to be done to hurt brown people.

They'll just blame Biden when their hospital closes

Trump does not care about us. He figures if any of us wage-slaves get too sick to work - we ought to just die.

So true, whether allowed or not. He cares about grifting $$, he cares about golf, he cares about crypto and he cares about fleecing anyone and everyone tempted to buy his cheapo, gaudy merch. He cares about getting back a tiny bit of the respect he’s lost. Beyond that? Nothing.

>The advocacy group Public Citizen released a report Monday identifying 446 hospitals that could be forced to reduce services or close because of the Trump-GOP Medicaid cuts, which will amount to around $1 trillion over the next decade. The at-risk hospitals collectively served 7 million patients in 2024, according to Public Citizen’s analysis. >Nearly 200 of the hospitals listed in Public Citizen’s report are located in congressional districts represented by Republicans who voted for the Medicaid cuts, and 146 are in states represented by Senate Republicans — nearly all of whom supported the sprawling budget package that included the assault on Medicaid. ... The report comes as Republicans are reportedly considering billions of dollars in additional healthcare cuts — and kicking hundreds of thousands more off their health coverage — to help fund Trump’s illegal and increasingly expensive war on Iran.

What's fucked is most of these hospitals have been fucked since COVID-19 as elective procedures have been historically low. Those procedures are things not covered by insurance like cosmetic surgery. They are high dollar procedures that give hospitals a lot of extra income. Also, COVID-19 put even more rural Americans on Medicaid, which has very low reimbursement rates, especially so in red states. Those rates are not enough ro keep doors open and pay employees without the afore mentioned elective procedures and patients on high deductible plans. These hospitals have been prioritizing Medicare Advantage plans of whom they are contacted with because they are at least guaranteed some payments. However more and more of those patients have spiraled into poverty requiring additional Medicaid coverage. So when more amd more of their patients are on Medicaid year after year income to the hospitalsdries up, as rural areas are not as densely populated as cities and when the majority of that sparse population is on Medicaid because of poor employment opportunities thanks to capitalism, it created this downward spiral. Trump's attempts at gutting Medicaid, and to some extent Medicare, were the final nail in the coffin for these hospitals who were already on life support since 2020. It's a tragedy.

As far as hospitals closing if you live in an urbanized area that has more than one hospital you will be inconvenienced but ok, Medicaid cuts will have to be done in Congress to survive the courts. Trump voters mostly live in large urban areas with more than one hospital right? Obviously they must or else they are about to be screwed by their own party.

Project 2025 has the goal of reducing the population of America by 200,000,000 people- so closing hospitals is part of their plan.

This seemingly irrational Iran war, and cutting fuel & fertilizer to vast swaths of the Earth, especially developing nations, suspiciously seems like a plan to cause mass starvation and depopulation. I simply find it almost impossible accept that it’s all being done purely because Trump is senile and stupid. There are cunning people behind the scenes pulling strings for other goals.

No single Trump policy has addressed the systemic problems associated with high medical and drug costs and the consequences of Republican efforts over the years to obstruct all Democrat backed legislation. With "Trump RX" for instance, many of these prices were already competitive to begin with, but more important, all Trump has done is helped to increase the costs of other drugs not included in the program. You see, for Trump, it's not about addressing the systemic issues, it's just about ratings, it's about putting on a performance. It's about short term gimmicks over long term solutions. Meanwhile, Trump and Republicans are providing tax breaks and incentives for massive corporations and rich people. Costs that are NOT being offset by gutting social programs, slashing funding for HEALTHCARE and food assistance, and nor by defunding scientific research, public health and environmental initiatives. It's no surprise that a majority of Americans disapprove of Trump's job as president, his approval ratings have been consistently underwater because he hasn't addressed the immediate problems that Americans care most about in any sort of fundamental way. Trump has been mostly fixated on POLITICIZING MEDICAL SCIENCE. His administration has reversed decades worth of scientific research and advancements in medicine and vaccines. Health outcomes are going to WORSEN because Trump has chosen to defund public health agencies and research into infectious diseases, CANCER, diabetes, AIDS/HIV, Alzheimer's, heart disease, mental health disorders, Parkinson's and the list goes on... Trump has been less focused on our healthcare system, and more focused on FOREIGN WARS, on pageantry, on exploiting his power to obstruct justice; on using the presidency to enrich himself, his family, and his wealthy benefactors; on weaponizing the government against his political opponents; on covering up his corruption scandals; on his own personal vanity projects; and among other things, on transforming the government and presidency into a dictatorship and kleptocracy that benefits a select few at the expense of the MANY. Do you think these MAGA dupes who incessantly trash "Obamacare" know that one of the largest demographics to benefit from the ACA by obtaining their healthcare coverage through its programs just happens to be Republicans and Trump supporters living in rural areas around the country? Of course they don't, that's a rhetorical question. In fact, according to recent polls, MOST Americans want to see ACA subsidies extended. A vast majority of these ACA enrollees blame the Republican Party for rising healthcare costs And moreover, most Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of healthcare in general. I'm still waiting for the Trump healthcare plan that was promised two weeks from now... EIGHT YEARS AGO. Now that the first government shutdown fiasco is behind them, Republicans will just continue lying about their commitment to a "better" healthcare plan, or instead of universal healthcare, the GOP will push for universally privatizing health care. Republicans want to secure a deal that locks in massive cuts to healthcare and deprives millions of coverage while prioritizing the corporate interests of the healthcare industry. And despite what Republicans might argue about "trusting the market," their support for privatizing healthcare to whatever extent they can will only lead to things like more profit seeking and denied claims, exploding premiums and healthcare costs, hospital shutdowns, unequal access to services and less accessibility to care for low-income individuals and families, and among other things, a lot more dead poor people. Not to mention how this will also translate into lax regulations and lack of oversight, transparency and accountability, and of course made possible by more discreet lobbying, the lining of pockets and a growing number of conflicts of interest. I'm still waiting for that Trump healthcare plan.

The hospital in my parent’s town is already useless. They go to the ER in the next town over. If they need to be admitted they get an ambulance or helicopter ride to a hospital in a city a few hours away. Hospitals are already failing.
