So basically it’s a billionaire book club with one scientist tagging along for credibility feels more like Silicon Valley fanfiction than science policy.

Or part of the Epstein circle.
P.S. Not to suggest that this scientist was. But the Epstein circle had a lot of oligarchs and a few academics, apparently so the oligarchs could feel smart, possibly also so the academics could beg for funding.

>The sole academic researcher is John Martinis, a quantum physicist at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who shared the Nobel Prize in Physics last year for observations of macroscopic quantum phenomena. “I am honoured to be on the committee,” Martinis told Nature.
He is the fig leaf of the committee.

Nice guy, I am sure, but this appointment is irrelevant to today's social problems. A climate scientist or a medical researcher would be better, but those fields are taboo in the anti-science Trump administration.

Let's hope trump and his billionaire enablers believe the hilariously uninformed narrative your selling rather than recognize and react the way every other authoritarian government does to the threat posed by citizens self organizing.
Either way this protest is likely to continue to grow as the consequences of trumps choices become increasingly impossible for citizens to ignore.
Large protests can become any numbers of problematic things for authoritarian governments including nascent governments in waiting or sparking revolutionary resistance such as was the case for the founding of the US in the revolutionary war.
Even with.the orange fools consistent record of inept and ineffective strategic thinking he has enough survival instincts to have repeatedly expressed a desire to suppress any protest or criticisms of any kind including in direct violation of citizens first amendment protections.
So it sure looks like the president doesn't share your lack of understanding about the dangers to his plans to make himself " president for life" that a citizen driven democratic movement and constitutional rights of assembly pose.
Not that he can do much about it other than undertake ineffective, illegal, unconstitutional and ultimately self defeating actions in addition to his usual bitching and moaning.

It’s a science and technology panel. It’s disingenuous to primarily refer to it as a science panel and I expect better from the Scientific American.
You may argue that it is far too skewed towards tech, and that’s valid.
