Trump gave away any influence the US had with China. He can't demand anything.

Man geopolitics is tough, huh guys?

Nobody knew it was this tough /s

My favorite response when Trump finally grasps something the average Joe has known for years.
31
Wander21 May 11, 2026 +12
Don't forget those MAGA people, they are also on Trump's level or worst
12
Fun-Poet5338 May 11, 2026 +11
I'd say worse. Trump can atleast manipulate and shit. Those guys got fooled into thinking you can just make major changes on day 1 and still think "Trump said X so it must be true". The level of stupidity I've seen on Trump subs is concerning.
11
Utterlybored May 12, 2026 +2
Believe me, I’m trying to forget them.
2
usemyfaceasaurinal May 11, 2026 +3
You mean like the word ‘groceries’?
3
Utterlybored May 12, 2026 +1
Yeah. I was struggling for years, saying “stuff we buy at the food and household supplies stores.” Finally, Trump came along and gave me that new word.
1
L_C_SullaFelix May 11, 2026 +1
Yeah, something like "never get involved in a land war in asia!". Shouldbhave picked that up by watching "the princess bride" with the grand kids...
1
Midiamp May 11, 2026 +10
What?! You're accusing the man who knows more of the bible than the pope doesn't know about geopolitics!? /S /S /S
10
AppleTree98 May 11, 2026 +8
He is a genius, a prophet, the smartest guy in the room (or on the planet just ask him), and people just keep naming things after him. I watched a video six months ago on YouTube about how Iran would respond. Guess what!?? They did 90% of the damage and destruction that was laid out. Mines, countries hosting US bases and radar was all in scope.
8
CumGuzlinGutterSluts May 10, 2026 +58
Right? There's litterally nothing he could offer to them that theyre not already getting.
58
Frigoffwidit May 10, 2026 +59
Taiwan Wait and see....
59
TheGringoDingo May 11, 2026 +16
That’s my thought, as well. Unfortunately, the only shit trump gives a f*** about is transactional, so he’ll let them have Taiwan without US intervention if the offer is good enough for him (not the country or world)
16
Tsakax May 11, 2026 +34
I could actually see that lol.
34
Not_Campo2 May 11, 2026 +2
If the goal is to prevent a global recession then yes, this is a great idea
2
alexefi May 11, 2026 +8
Id say he isnt stupid to let one country that only cares about themselves have control over most of chips. But last year make me doubt my train of thought.
8
ricosmith1986 May 11, 2026 +8
There's a non zero percent chance he'll give up Taiwan for a shiny trinket or crypto payment.
8
Life_Without_Lemon May 11, 2026 +3
A yacht maybe or they let him build a Trump Tower in china. Heck a golden toilet bowl would probably do the trick
3
ricosmith1986 May 11, 2026 +2
I lean more towards a tower deal that will never be built, but another scam to funnel money into his pockets. I doubt this guy gets ever gets on a boat anymore, with his health there's no way he's going out to sea. Dramamine would put Snoozy McGee into a coma and they have to keep plugging him into machines almost daily.
2
Adam__B May 11, 2026 +2
He used taxpayer money to pay off the contracts to renewable energy companies so they wouldn’t build wind farms off shore. Not so they would, so they wouldn’t. No one should doubt how stupid he is.
2
Yvaelle May 11, 2026 +6
Trump - I had a great trip with She - some say Xi but I say She. Did you know-NOBODY KNEW that's how China's say X's, She, She - isn't it beautiful? Trump - we solved the Iran war, we created WORLD PEACE!!! They're saying I'm the greatest at everything. Negotiations were very successful. Taiwan is now She's property, also Korea. Iran now belongs to Israel. Ukraine and Turkey goes to Russia. Argentina gets Chile and the Falklands. America gets all the rest!!!
6
MostlyPoorDecisions May 11, 2026 +8
But what if they asked for us to allow those BIG BEAUTIFUL CARS to be sold here without a bullshit tariff?
8
RootHogOrDieTrying May 11, 2026 +8
Trump will forget any agreement in a few days.
8

7
Denim_in_dago May 11, 2026 +4
Boy is he wrong, and to travel so far to take an embarrassing L to the face…. Shows some desperation me thinks?
4
Grand_Sock_1303 May 11, 2026 +10
He better check down the back of the couch to see if he left any cards down there
10
nerodidntdoit May 11, 2026 +14
He can allow China to buy a LOT of US assets. Lift limitation on Chinese participation in US companies and even allow the Chinese government to own the majority of US companies, effectively giving the Chinese power over the congress lobby system. I might be going too far, but I think it's naive to think he has nothing to offer.
14
DragoonDM May 11, 2026 +13
Probably wouldn't be hard to convince him that this would be "China investing a bunch of money in the US", that it's a great thing and he's a brilliant dealmaker for getting China to do it.
13
nerodidntdoit May 11, 2026 +6
Right! He can 100% try and sell it to us like he struck a great deal with China.
6
CryptoThroway8205 May 11, 2026 +6
How can anyone trust him to fulfill promises though?
6
hyldemarv May 11, 2026
Allow him and his cronies to skim about 30% off the top of the thing?

4
Brkthom May 11, 2026 +3
Ah, but he can have America give Xi what china wants. And he would. To cover his shit.
3
Adam__B May 11, 2026 +1
It’s hilarious watching a pathological narcissist try their regular tactic of just demanding something or threatening people stop working anymore because he has no upper hand. The Great Deal Maker seems he’s gotten himself between a rock and a hard place, and now he’s turning to China for help LMAO.
1
theevilphoturis May 11, 2026 +1
Can't see any logical reasons why China will do that when the US is actively shooting itself in the foot.
1
justlurkshere May 11, 2026 +1
I believe the words you are looking for is something about cards, and possibly also the words "flushed" and "toilet".
1
stogie_t May 11, 2026
Trump started pointless conflicts that forced all these other countries to hit back. All he has achieved is to confirm that the US can’t hurt China without taking plenty of damage themselves. RIP status quo.

DEMAND?????   This guy is an absolute mess
195
This-Grape-5149 May 11, 2026 +46
World leaders need to put him in his place. Quit appeasing to him.
46
Denim_in_dago May 11, 2026 +19
China will, they already stated they have been around for 5000 years without any America and were doing just fine. They have zero need to appease, they are expecting a nice warm sloppy rim job from dump.
19
devAcc123 May 11, 2026 -8
This is a hilarious oversimplification of Chinese history yikes
-8
Denim_in_dago May 11, 2026 +14
I simply quoted what a Chinese Government official stated regarding tariffs
14
PleasantWay7 May 11, 2026 +1
They know he is so stupid they can tell him they will appease him and then just not do it. Look at how tight rare earths still are after supposedly getting them flowing again last year.
1
Thagyr May 11, 2026 +11
Trump and Co don't know *how* to negotiate outside of strongarming. They don't like any agreement unless the other side loses. Unless it's Russia in which case they bend over.
11

Sad!

I’m sure China is really eager to help Trump stop blowing through missile stockpiles.
58

"You should shoot a 100 more Mr. Trump, it looked really beautiful and you looked really strong doing it."
16
Logical-Breakfast150 May 10, 2026 +27
Do they have a plan for when China says no in the first 10 seconds?
27
MoaraFig May 11, 2026 +3
It's not in Chinese culture to say no. They'll say yes, and then just not do it. Same for international diplomacy in general. It's very c**** to just be exceedingly nice in person, and then make the actual decisions you were always going to make
3
Least1Difficulty May 11, 2026 +3
Add more tariffs to Canada obviously.
3
DexJedi May 10, 2026 +43
He has no cards. He is stuck in Iran and China knows it. Xi will smile in front of the camera's but Trump will return without any successes. He has little to no reason to help. That is my estimation.

About 15% from Iran and more from surrounding countries. Their higher import was also because of preparations on possible conflict surrounding Iran. In short term they are well prepared. In the long term it will cause economic damage, just like about any country in the world. China does not prefer this blockade. But what they fear more is US control of the region and resources. So they will aim for a solution that does nothing more than opening the strait. Which would mean a loss for the US, Trump and his ego.
1
Far-Maintenance-1947 May 11, 2026 +1
China will get just the oil from elsewhere. They increased their imports from Saudi and Russia iirc.
1
ruskyandrei May 10, 2026 +74
I've heard this theory from a number of people so far, that China is going to swoop in and pressure Iran to give in and accept the US demands. I just don't understand why they would do that. The only argument I've heard from people who suggest this will happen is that China is hurting without Iran's oil, but China has the world's largest oil reserves, and I suspect they're already sorting out ways of getting what they need in other ways. They have plenty of time, and seeing the US and Trump squirm must be exactly what they want.
74
s4nid May 10, 2026 +50
People are seriously overstating the influence China would have on Iran. Of course they have some but in the end Iran is looking out for themselves and what is in their interest. They are litereally fighting for their existence and will not give up any of the leverage they have just because China would ask them to. Also China would not be suppporting them if it was not in their own interest, doing the opposite just because Trump asks them, don't see that happening.
50
Misticsan May 11, 2026 +5
The easy comparison is Ukraine. While the US has ways to pressure Ukraine and cash in favors, it doesn't make Ukraine a puppet or a passive actor that just does what they're told (very obvious now that the current administration is hostile to Zelensky, yet Ukraine keeps fighting on). Same with Iran and China. I'd probably argue that this is revealing of "superpower mentality", seeing the world as a board where a few big players make the "real" decisions and everyone else falls in line. The idea that if a middle or small power does or doesn't do something, it must be because they're getting the support and/or greenlight of a superpower, their individual agency be damned.
5
xterminatr May 10, 2026 +29
Yeah, China is the last country that is going to help us out when they can stand by and watch us stomp all over our own dicks and lose any power and influence we might have had left with the world. Never stop your adversary from destroying themselves.
29
sonic_couth May 10, 2026 +16
And Trump isn’t really trying to end the war, is he? He’s got this market manipulation thing going on, Natenyahu is having too much fun killing Lebanese and Palestinians, and MAGA seems to love the whole show. It’s all Tyler Sheridan level drama.
16
guydud3bro May 11, 2026 +3
It's pretty clear he really wants it to end. It's an unpopular war, gas prices are shooting up, and he has a midterm election coming up. There were reports early on that he quickly got bored with the war...he doesn't like doing things, he really just wanted to bomb them and cut a deal.
3
snasna102 May 11, 2026 +1
Yea but she had a weird laugh
1
ithinkitslupis May 10, 2026 +22
Yeah I don't see it either. China has another \~5 months of oil before it starts becoming a domestic concern for them and it looks like the US is really hoping to back out of this mistake whenever they can get a deal that saves face. So why pressure Iran for anything when you're watching your biggest rival punch themselves in the d*** and alienate every ally besides Israel in the process.
22
Gustomucho May 11, 2026 +11
I think that’s why the foreign minister of Iran was in China. China invited them to get the pulse on how to best negotiate with Trump to get the max out of the meeting. Iran and China are in cahoots, having China help Iran with back channel deals in exchange of China brokering a deal to look like a good guy to foreign nations, maybe talking about the Petro-Yuan.
11
Winter-Mix-8677 May 11, 2026 +6
China wants the strait to re-open, but they also want this to end unfavourably for the USA. They don't \*need\* it to re-open yet, so all they're really doing is putting pressure on Iran to agree to ceasefires when reasonable and avoid escalation when able. China's not going to strong-arm Iran into a shitty deal, they're smarter than Trump.
6
yuje May 10, 2026 +4
Yeah, it’s not like Iran was China’s primary supplier of oil, they were just selling at a d******* because of sanctions. China isn’t worst of than any other oil-importing country in the world and can still buy oil from the world market as needed, and I would think China can outbid other countries like the Vietnam and Philippines on the world market when it comes to the final destination of oil produced outside the gulf. Since the US is an oil exporter, they can even buy US oil if they needed, since it’s not like there’s not any restrictions that prevent them from doing it.
4
chipmunksocute May 11, 2026 +5
Not to mention China has absolutely raced ahead of everyone in renewables with like half of all new car sales are EV, are installing insane amounts of solar and wind monthly they are probably the most insulated country from the oil shock besides the US and other major oil producers.
5
TrumpsATraitorSoAreU May 10, 2026 +13
Like Xi said, China has been here for 5000 years and it will be here for another 5000 years. China actually has its eye on the prize unlike Donny DumbDumb
13
KGB_cutony May 11, 2026 +1
There you see the difference between a socialist statesman and a capitalist businessman. Xi's more than happy to play the long game, use scarcity as leverage to invest inwards, build independence. Trump needs big returns now, if it damages anything that's for the next guy to fix.
1
Frank9567 May 11, 2026 +1
I think calling Trump a capitalist business man is a stretch. He's actually been convicted of felonies. He's also bankrupted a c*****. By any definition, he's better described as a 'failed capitalist businessman'....or simply, a crook.
1
Ecstatic_Bee6067 May 10, 2026 +5
Iran could literally just capitulate until the US disperse their assets they brought into the region, then beef up their passive air defense with China's help and go back to doing whatever they want. The US has no means of enforcing any kind of deal with Iran short of perpetual war, which is prohibitively expensive
5
dennis-w220 May 10, 2026 +12
Just be curious, what would he offer? Taiwan?
12
ken_the_boxer May 11, 2026 +10
Maybe Philippines too

100% Trump will cave to China! Then tell the American people he made a great deal. Any takers on this bet?

12
bssbronzie May 10, 2026 +16
tbh, Canada is loving this war While higher gas prices suck for everyone, but with US being focused on Iran gets the attention away from the 51st state talk, it gives us more time to diversify our trade options and reduce reliance on US, build up relations with EU, make favourable deals, and sort out our own economy without having to worry about the hostile neighbour down south.
16
rubrent May 11, 2026 +11
Keep those Chinese EVs going to Canada and post on social media how superior they are to American made vehicles. This will obliterate the American carmaker fraud that’s been existing for decades.
11
airship_of_arbitrary May 11, 2026 +5
Oil and gold going to infinity and beyond is a pretty nice bonus for Canada too.
5
Feruk_II May 11, 2026 +7
Yeah but what’s our success case on diversifying? We move from 90% of our exports going to the USA to 80%? At the end of the day, geography wins.
7
airship_of_arbitrary May 11, 2026 +13
We've gone from 85% to around 65 to 70% in Carney's first year alone. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canada-trade-oct-2025-9.7037913 It's definitely significant, especially if the trend holds. We're not aiming for zero, but just getting to 40 to 50% in a few more years will significantly lower our vulnerability. Between deals with China, Europe, getting invited to the EU Summit in Armenia as the first non European country, our future lies beyond the mess to the South. We've got a Mercosur deal lined up in the next few months, which would be insane if it goes through. This isn't even the first time we did this. When America went all in on tariffs in the 1920s, we quickly shifted to being a global trade nation instead of servicing the US. We've been here before and we'll do it again.
13
Mewhomewhy May 10, 2026 +8
Demand 😂 Trump is going to come away with his tail between his legs and give Iran even more than he already has.
8
Ansiktsburk123 May 11, 2026 +3
This whole thing will end with Iran making a pinky promise that they wont get nukes \*wink wink\* and for that they will get control over Hormuz. Then Trump can focus on trying to save the mid terms via undemocratic means. Then in a few years time Iran will have nukes anyway AND control Hormuz while Trump will be dead due to old age.
3
Heisenberg991 May 10, 2026 +5
Trump is there to get his rocks off while the military kick their high boots and salute him. Everything else he couldn't give af about.

5
FatherOften May 11, 2026 +3
How about we just get rid of the tariffs. With the global economic shit storm thats coming to everyone very soon, the tariffs being dropped could give a bit of stability when people of this nation are going to need it the most. Or just keep burning it down.
3
RockerDawg May 11, 2026 +3
Why does he need to pressure Iran? I thought he already won the war??

Trump will also be giving approval on Taiwan take over, as he’s done with Russia on Ukraine and Israel on Iran. Furthermore he will comment saying that China advised him he’s the best president ever, and is doing amazing things with the US.
5
Trappist1 May 11, 2026 -3
That would literally put the entire world under China's thumb. It's literally the only country in the world he's been tough on consistently.  Don't see it happening.

Xi has all the cards, Donald.

Benny Netanyoohoo just told him the job isn’t done. Xi just told the sanctioned Chinese companies supplying Iran to ignore him. Clown show of global proportion.
2
Sarnsereg May 11, 2026 +2
China can survive without the US at this point snd trump and company haven't figured it out. China can still get oil from russia and Iran through other ways. They have no real reason to help the US with Iran.
2
Blueskyminer May 11, 2026 +2
US will walk away with nothing.
2
Amoralvirus May 11, 2026 +2
Hey guys, relax, don't worry, trump will behave himself well, because as well all know, trump respects strong dictators; it's almost like he aspires to be one himself. Also, he will be totally open to grifting for himself, and his family.

There is little chance this will be anything less than embarrassing

Why would China intervene when its adversary is effectively shooting itself in the foot and, in the process, advancing China’s interests?
5

Seems like a waste of jet fuel.

Trump is not in a position to demand anything from China. Quite the opposite.
2

He can demand, and they can laugh.
4

He'll come back saying everything went beautifully and that Xi jinping was in awe at his brilliance and was kissing his ass ... Blah blah f****** blah, So he can manipulate the markets some more.
1
The_Oregon_Duck May 11, 2026 +1
But Benny said the war wasn’t over, and Trump is his dog, so this is just a market manipulation for American elites, maybe Chinese elites this time as well, if they hold stocks.
1
Denim_in_dago May 11, 2026 +1
Why is he even visiting China?!?! They are not on the US side of the fence on anything related to Iran. Iran is their ally and will take their side completely especially since tRump is such a boring dumb d***.
1

And CN will demand CN and EU participation in UA-RU peace negotiations (to take even more influence away from USA)
1

Good luck making demands of china. Delusional. Maybe when the USA had soft power but she's pissed that up the wall over the last 18months.
1

China's response will be "LOL sure thing bro, we'll get right on that".
1

Xi will inform Trump that tankers carrying oil for China will be going through the Straits with Iran's blessing, and that enforcing the US blockade against them is unacceptable and would lead to unfortunate outcomes for the US. Implied or explicit, economic moves to damage MAGA voters/states hard before midterms. And payment to Iran might not be in dollars to weaken US control of international monetary system.
