Perry can just say everyone definitely returned their gift cards.

If they have to give them back, they’ll just end up in the hands of Corey Lewandowski.

Is that how he’ll buy all of his plane dildos now that he’s been fired?

“He was told that federal rules prohibit TSA employees from accepting direct cash gifts.” The constitution forbids Trump from accepting a $400 million jet from the Qatari government, but he did it anyway. If I were them, I’d tell anyone asking me to return the cards to piss off.

"What card?"
562
Princekyle7 Mar 30, 2026 +148
Exactly! I'd just say I did. Hell I was working for tips one time years ago and the company accidentally put $500 on a paycheck that should have been zero. I made the mistake of telling someone who told on me. But then realized what can they do? It would cost them more to go for a legal approach and I made them more money than that a week. So I just never brought it up again and waited for them to forget.

BettyPoop- Mar 31, 2026 +60
"So I just never brought it up again." What if the snitch comes across your comment and tries to seek justice? WHY'D YOU BRING IT UP AGAIN KYLE?!

Had something similar happen - I took a week of vacation and they never deducted the hours from my PTO. Woohoo 40 extra vacation hours! Told my supervisor and her response was "Good for you! Don't tell anyone else." didn't plan to and I knew what her reaction would be or I wouldn't have told her. They've definitely done audits since then and somehow it never came up.
11
Princekyle7 Mar 31, 2026 +4
Congrats! That's a quality gift from the Universe no doubt! And good read on your supervisor. I legitimately thought my coworker would do the same. So I learned a lesson and got $500 haha.

Company I work part for accidentally put on salaried pay. I told them in 5 different emails. I’ve been getting paid a grand a week since January 1st. They keep telling me they are working on it. I haven’t been given any work assignments since my first job It was only 12 hours of work.
5
VeganMinx Mar 31, 2026 +1
I sure hope when they discover their mistake they don't try and recoup your money. That happened to me before, and they made me pay it back. I was mad af.
1
Ok-Cut-9597 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I quit a job I was salaried on. Kept getting paid. I sent them 3 emails, then finally stopped worrying about it. I eventually moved everything to a new account and just let it accumulate in my old account. I sent them several certified letters letting them know I no longer worked there and they were causing me emotional distress. they sent me a W2 even for taxes, etc. 3 years later I got a message asking for the money. I laughed said sure, but they needed to pay for my lawyer, my emotional distress of 3 years of trying to get them to stop sending me this money, etc. They replied "just keep it". Never got another check, and I've never touched the money, well, besides investing it all into SPY in May 2016, just to see what would happen. It's still there...

7
KiscoKid1 Mar 31, 2026 +9
Wasn’t a gift. It was rent, food, gas.
9
PigglyWigglyDeluxe Mar 31, 2026 +9
$1000, right? More like ***some*** of the rent, no food, no gas.
9
BarelyBrooks Mar 30, 2026 +49
Also a gift card is not a direct cash gift.
49
Beavers4beer Mar 30, 2026 +22
Unless it was store specific, it's very much a cash-equivalent.
22
BarelyBrooks Mar 30, 2026 +16
"Cash equivalent" is not "direct cash", that distinction is made because if I gave you a $20 dollar bill you could spend it anywhere, if I gave you a $20 gift card to Walmart you can only spend it at Walmart. This is the entire reason the gift card industry exists, even Visa gift cards have limitations actual cash and normal credit cards do not.
16
PowerfulHorror987 Mar 30, 2026 +17
🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s a longstanding legal interpretation
17
frawgster Mar 31, 2026 +3
You can’t equivocate the literal definition of a gift card to the federal definition of a gift card.

3
Secret-Put-4525 Mar 31, 2026 +6
If I gave a cop a $50 Arby's gift card to get out of a ticket, that's a bribe.

6

Delicious, piping hot Arby’s
4
OtherUserCharges Mar 30, 2026 +11
None of that matters. A gift card is essentially cash. Gift cards are included in that statement of what they can’t take. I also have a government job, I cannot accept a gift card and act like it’s not cash. I am the president of a local government union, I would have a hell of a time trying to argue that gift cards aren’t essential cash. If I found out a member was accepting gift cards I wouldn’t bother trying to argue they didn’t break the rules and go straight to trying to get them to keep their job.
11
maddietendo Mar 31, 2026 +5
Nothing you said matters my bro. The govt/law sees it as a cash gift. This has always been the case.
5
InvestigatorOk7015 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Um akchually the words cash equivalent and direct cash arent exactly the same therefore Pfft. This is the reason the gift card industry blah blah blah
1
mconk Mar 31, 2026 +1
It was a gift card to Hudson News
1
powerfuzzzz Mar 31, 2026 +1
It’s not about direct cash. A federal employee can’t take any gift greater than $20… something about not being bribed or whatever.
1
ciaobeya Mar 31, 2026 +3
exactly. it all comes from the the top. if our “leaders” are blatantly breaking the rules and doing anything they want why would we the people fee the need to uphold any rules? that’s why NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW
3

PigglyWigglyDeluxe Mar 31, 2026 +8
Isn’t employment simply a contract between an employer and employee? Rules are to be followed by both sides, and whoever violates a rule, violates the contract, and is therefore null and void…? The employer violated the contract by not paying them, so therefore the employee can just do whatever they want, right? …right?
8
Educational-Wing2042 Mar 31, 2026 +3
The implication there is that their employment is voided when the contract is voided. That’s the same page everyone is on, TSA is saying return the gift card or you’re fired.
3
MarsRocks97 Mar 30, 2026 +168
Use the card. Return the card. Problem solved.

If this was a white MAGA celebrity that handed these out, then the White House would call them a glorious patriot.

during a March 2026 government shutdown, billionaire and major Trump donor Timothy Mellon was identified as the source of a $130 million donation aimed at covering military pay
3
malac0da13 Mar 31, 2026 +1
I mean musk offered to pay the tsa salaries but it was turned down. Whether he would have actually went through with the offer is another thing completely…
1
Novel-Letterhead-217 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Anyone who knows Musk also knows that the only goal he had with that was to benefit somehow. This is a guy giving out a gift to workers that are getting screwed for politics, if kid rock had walked around handing these out then you know damn well that nobody would say to return them.
2
malac0da13 Mar 31, 2026 +2
I was thinking more that he likes to make an offer to do something then immediately take it back. Like when he offered to buy twitter for a stock price of $420.69 then immediately tried retracting the offer when they took him up on it.
2
Desikarma524 Mar 30, 2026 +73
I thought the trump admin asked the public to do exactly this, so what’s the problem?
73
Mental_Mixture8306 Mar 31, 2026 +24
Its not the card its the amount. I recall somebody saying that you couldn't give more than $20 on a card, and it couldnt be a "visa" card, it had to be specifically from a supermarket, Target, etc.
24
zh_13 Mar 31, 2026 +23
That’s dumb af
23
PatsyPage Mar 31, 2026 +4
It’s super dumb. For government workers it’s considered a bribe. I worked for a zoo and before they sold their food and beverage contract the servers weren’t allowed to take tips because it was considered a bribe. They were in a union and paid more than a regular server but still. When I worked there as a supervisor I just never said anything when they got tipped.
4
Flimsy-Sprinkles7331 Mar 30, 2026 +9
I'm not sure it was the MAGA admin, but rather the airport admins: https://www.cheapism.com/travelers-gift-cards-for-tsa-agents/
9
MsWumpkins Mar 31, 2026 +8
It's a standard ethics thing for all government and quasi-government employees.
8
RocketLabBeatsSpaceX Mar 31, 2026 +3
I’d imagine the problem is that you don’t want bribery among government officials; especially those in charge of security. But yeah, this shit is nothing compared to what the [Trump administration is doing.](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/may/15/first-thing-donald-trump-mar-a-lago-dinner-oil-bosses)

Rules are not for the wealthy.
30
BusyBit6542 Mar 31, 2026 +1
Yes they are, they just hire people who know how to get around the rules. So like this for instance. The rules say they have to return the gift card but does it mention the balance? How would they even know if gave it back or not? See what I mean? The rules are always there, you just gotta know how to bend them

Qatar can give trump a whole ass 747 but Tyler Perry can’t give some middle-wage airport workers a giftcard. This country is garbage.
12

So President Trump can accept a whole ass airplane from a foreign country, but TSA Tony has to give back $1000 after missing a month’s work?!?

8

Donald Trump & his family are stealing money from government coffers and taxpayers, right and left. While TSA workers denied of their paychecks can’t even take accept charitable donations. Shameful!!!

27
HellovahBottomCarter Mar 31, 2026 +7
The propriety clause of not accepting gifts died the moment Stump took office in 2017. Want to bring it back? Make it actually apply to everyone again and strip the Stump family of all their ill-gotten gains from monetizing the presidency, alongside any other ilk in his corrupt, inept, criminal administration.

5
MsWumpkins Mar 31, 2026 +4
Government employees can't accept gifts valued at more than $20. Accepting gift cards is literally in my quasi-government job's annual ethics training, so I kinda giggled. Republicans need to pay people instead of trying to f*** everyone over.
4

Tyler Perry has a private jet. He doesn’t even go through TSA. As others have said, talk to me about the rules when this administration is held responsible for at least 1% of the illegal c*** they’re doing.

2

Really gonna fire TSA workers right now?
2
Oldschoolgroovinchic Mar 31, 2026 +2
Under normal circumstances there’s a good reason to prevent federal employees from taking what could be misconstrued as a bribe or payment under the table. But it’s hard to say this was wrong when T-Dawg had taken bribes (hello Qatar plane) and these agents told to work without pay. Hell, Phoenix Sky Harbor airport is literally accepting donations for the TSA agents there.
2
Taterbuggin2thebank Mar 31, 2026 +2
Look at all the c*** that the great orange stain is doing in broad daylight in violation of every ethics rule you can think of for his personal enrichment, while the folks who weren’t getting a paycheck for their hard work because of said jackass, get screwed over b/c of “ethics rules” —
2
Leaislala Mar 31, 2026 +2
Once we have a supreme court that isn’t being bribed we can talk about no cards for tsa workers. In the meantime, how do you expect them to pay rent?

Sounds like they don’t know who got what so should keep them. The rich Trump asskissers can shrug off $1k, TSA workers don’t have that luxury.
