another episode of “Things That Can And Will Happen When The Vast Majority* Of Free-Willed Adults In America Absolutely Refuse To Care About Their Own Governance” [32% voted Republican in 2024 + 37% couldn’t be bothered to vote at all = 69% = Vast Majority]

The US is sliding in to Mexican levels of effective government for largely the same reason as Mexico. Culturally both country's people are very caring about their immediate community (generally their family) but there is much lower class or social consciousness as you move away from the family level. It leads to apathy in governance. Strong local communities bring strong community governments, and that trickles on up, but when your local community is insular it breeds weaker governance and that trickles up instead.

I'm old enough to remember the last shutdown (4 months ago) when the members of the Military were forced to go to Food Banks and soup kitchens to stay alive, just another day in The Golden Age of MAGA.

Last I checked Republicans in the House rejected a bipartisan deal from the Senate that would’ve funded the TSA.

So then we agree then, the bipartisan bill that funded TSA passed the Senate, and House Republicans rejected it because they wanted ICE funding added. That means Republicans, not Democrats, blocked TSA funding today.

Looks like they don’t have the votes to make it a “core tenet”.

This is what happens when essential workers get treated like expendable numbers instead of people

I mean the US did vote to not have a problem with slavery.

Can you imagine working 40 hours a week, still having to rely on a food bank, and then dealing with ICE losers after this festering d*** pustule sends them in to come lurk around your job? It’s a wonder how none of these poor folks have gone postal.

Gotta love that ICE is now getting paid to do their job. This admin is treating TSA like absolute garbage.

The GOP sends kids wearing armored vests that can't really do anything to help out, while holding up funding even though ICE is funded for several more years. Then the situation is so bad the upper chamber decides we need to act now because of the Trump disaster unfolding and then the House GOP doesn't vote on it. What a masterclass in policymaking. The Trump GOP have lost all sense of reality and decency.

While I feel for the workers, TSA should just be shut down. We only built TSA because of 9/11 and it’s now become pure security theater and a jobs program.

They could just quit. TSA has been security theater for 25 years and now their means to make a living is Political Theater. Just get out of the situation.
