Tubi Adding 250 Episodes of ‘Sesame Street’ to Free Streaming Service

Posted by cmaia1503

Starting Wednesday, April 1, Tubi will add 250 episodes of “Sesame Street” spanning from the beginning of the series to Season 38 under a deal with Sesame Workshop. Tubi said that on a quarterly basis, 10% of the episodes will be replaced with additional episodes. “Few brands have shaped young minds and sparked imagination quite like Sesame Street,” said Adam Lewinson, chief content officer at Tubi. “By bringing hundreds of episodes to Tubi for free, we’re giving today’s kids access to joyful, foundational learning while inviting parents to share a piece of their own childhood with the next generation. It’s a powerful example of how Tubi connects audiences through stories that stay with you for life, making meaningful, educational entertainment accessible to all.” Joseph Giraldi, chief operating officer at Sesame Workshop, said that bringing “Sesame Street” to Tubi “allows us to expand our reach and impact — and we are thrilled that our beloved characters and proven educational media will now be available to even more children, families and fans.”

And just like that Tubi continues to do what the others won’t

Whoever is running Tubi is doing a great job, their movie selections are top notch, especially their documentaries.

Tubi is owned by Fox Corp and the Murdochs lol

erwin4200 Apr 1, 2026 +42
At this point, like 50 people in the country run the majority of American business it feels like. They'll continue buying up companies and consolidating what they can while enshitifying the Earth.
42
OscarDeJarjayes Apr 1, 2026 +6
And now that you've said that, Listnook has to pretend Tubi is awful. Like recently how everyone agreed with Andy Weir's comments on Star Trek until it was pointed out he said it on a no-no podcast and all of a sudden he was a moron.
6
Aggravating-Walk5813 Apr 1, 2026 +3
Well everybody has their line, like Roman Polanski or Weinstein maybe, but as a music fan, if I liked only wholesome people I’d have like 3 CDs in my collection. Fox owns the TV station I watch the morning news on as well, so.
3
PatBeVibin Apr 1, 2026 +2
You can acknowledge the service they provide is good compared to the competition and still hate them for who owns them. I think Amazon provides me with good service, I still hate the company and Jeff Bezos. And no, "everyone" didn't "agree" with Andy Weir's comments. Even if you don't like any of the modern Star Trek stuff, the comments he was making weren't just about criticizing the quality of the shows, he was feeding into the narrative that Star Trek shouldn't have social commentary (something that is FIRMLY in the show's roots) because it's too political nowadays. He said this on a podcast hosted by a reactionary who devoted his entire channel to the idea that virtually all media is "woke" now and ruined by the political left. People are absolutely free to judge him for chumming it up and throwing himself in with that lot. It doesn't mean he's a bad author either, I hate JK Rowling but I still like the Harry Potter books.
2
GoggleDMara9756 Apr 1, 2026 +1
People didn’t stop agreeing with the words, they just started being critical of who they were said by. Literally nobody who disliked modern Star Trek shows started to suddenly like them when they found out one single critic of them was shitty, stop making shit up

Which is why I refuse to watch it.

You probably shouldn't watch *anything* then, because *everything* is owned by rich assholes.

Anjali Sud is the C.E.O. and she seems nice.
-4
ZeroCitizen Apr 1, 2026 -3
Psychotic statement
-3
FixedFun1 Apr 1, 2026 +1
I don't know her much but I didn't find anything weird, unless I didn't search enough.
1
ZeroCitizen Apr 1, 2026 -5
Caping for rich media conglomerate CEOs is strange behavior. It doesn't matter if she doesn't have some sort of public controversy. When she was the CEO of Vimeo she drew an $18 million/year salary doing essentially nothing. C-Suite executives are not your friends and they appear to be nice because they are paid handsomely to put on a facade for the public. Their wealth insulates them from any real consequences of the decisions they make, so they live cushy lifestyles at the expense of their employees. They are leeches on society. They live nice lives on unearned wealth.
-5
Suburban--Dad Apr 1, 2026 +3
But the greedy money hungry CEO lady smiles a lot! She’s destroying the planet and everything she does, but she’s NICE! It will probably be ok.
3
FixedFun1 Apr 1, 2026 +2
I hate the C.E.O.'s of most major companies (like 99%) but if there isn't any reasons to hate someone I just, you know, don't know if I can. That is all.
2
danhakimi Apr 1, 2026 +1
well... day to day, who's *running* it?
1
PatBeVibin Apr 1, 2026 +1
The former CEO of Vimeo apparently.

>Whoever is running Tubi That would be the Fox Corporation. Yes, the one owned by the Murdochs.
21
Neon_Camouflage Apr 1, 2026 +6
The Murdochs aren't personally directing Tubi content selection, so I think they meant that specific person.
6
theArtOfProgramming Apr 1, 2026 +3
It’s the TV industry. It’s literally television clawing back what streaming took from them.
3
top_value7293 Apr 1, 2026 +6
Yep love TUBI
6
queeriosn_milk Mar 31, 2026 +64
Tubi is proof that people are still perfectly fine watching ads. We simply aren’t ok with paying for a service and still getting ads.
64
44problems Mar 31, 2026 +15
Plenty of people are willing to pay less and get ads. 71% of new streaming sign ups are ad supported.
15
Neon_Camouflage Apr 1, 2026 +2
Back in my day we paid less money than those people do now and had no ads
2
PM_ME_YOUR_NICE_EYES Apr 1, 2026 +1
This is funny to me because there's only like a ten year window when this is true.
1
BLOOOR Apr 1, 2026 +6
> Tubi is proof that people are still perfectly fine watching ads. Ad blockers work great.
6
MechaSandstar Apr 1, 2026 +1
To be mildly fair, FAST channels are much like cable, in that you're paying for a service (the internet, in this case) and watching a channel with ads.
1
clouds_in_pockets Mar 31, 2026 +36
Tubi’s like the thrift store of streaming: all the good stuff everyone else tossed. Now I kinda want a “classic kids TV” row front and center.
36
NYstate Mar 31, 2026 +25
With all of the cartoons they have added they should call it "Saturday Morning Throwback" or something
25
dokratomwarcraftrph Mar 31, 2026 +4
I was also pretty shocked about the wide array of movies they have available on Tubi, all for free with a very limited amount of commercials. Toby has significantly less commercials than the Amazon prime and HBO streaming services which I both pay a monthly fee for. Plus in my opinion tubi his hands down the biggest collection of horror movies out of all the streaming services.
4
Aggravating-Walk5813 Apr 1, 2026 +2
Great indie movies from the 80s and 90s, Down by Law was on there and a couple of Buscemi movies too. It’s almost like I curated these, just good solid choices.
2
DoubleOrNothing90 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Some d*** will try to slip Happy Tree Friends in there
1
JJiggy13 Mar 31, 2026 +11
I didn't see a mention of if there will be ads
11
colemon1991 Mar 31, 2026 +31
If it follows their normal setup, yes.
31
JJiggy13 Mar 31, 2026 -13
Yep. Sesame Street with ads is not the same thing as Sesame Street. It becomes a predatory tool instead.
-13
colemon1991 Mar 31, 2026 +13
It's gonna be a "wait and see" kind of thing unless Tubi clarifies otherwise. It could be the same ad rotation we already get (which is very broad) or tailored so that it's kid friendly (appropriateness may be debatable). Tubi has done a good job thus far so I'm willing to give them a chance on this for now.
13
JJiggy13 Mar 31, 2026 -10
Any ad content at all is a disservice to the children. Absolutely any at all.
-10
justarand0mstan Mar 31, 2026 +16
You got a couple of hundred million dollars laying around for the next couple of years to fund the Sesame Workshop, so that they can keep this content free for us all? That's what I thought too.
16
Sven_88 Mar 31, 2026 +6
There’s no reasoning with you people. You cry when it’s taken away and cry harder when it’s brought back in some form.
6
colemon1991 Apr 1, 2026 +1
Any ad content is a disservice to all of us. My wife is under the current assumption that it won't have tailored ads for kids and instead will remind us things like Amazon delivers and the latest cleaning supplies or medication. Which is still better than McDs toys and new video games.
1
BurritoDickk Apr 1, 2026 +4
It’s free dumbass
4
DrunkeNinja Mar 31, 2026 +19
It's mentioned in the article: >As with the rest of Tubi’s children’s content, “Sesame Street” will have “kid safe” advertising that is not targeted based on personal info or profiles.
19
bionicjoey Mar 31, 2026 -3
So just the usual psyops designed to make kids feel less-than if they don't have the latest misleadingly-advertised toy.
-3
JoePesci_TheGod Mar 31, 2026 +4
No kid is getting clinical depression from barbie commercials
4
SomeGuyNamedJason Apr 1, 2026 +2
Thank God dumbasses like you aren't making the decisions, you would rather children go with nothing because we don't have a perfect service than someone try to do something marginally good just because it has a drawback that isn't close to being as negative as you portray it. You want to make a world full of morons, but hey, at least you got to have the moral high-ground.
2
bionicjoey Apr 1, 2026 +1
Sesame Street used to be on PBS
1
DrunkeNinja Apr 1, 2026 +2
It still is on PBS. Tubi is just airing old episodes from between the start and 2007. New episodes are still on PBS.
2
not_a_moogle Apr 1, 2026 +2
Tubi and pluto are all you need.

2

Are movies still censored? I remember watching Tubi or Pluto a few years ago, and was let down when the Halloween movies were censored.
2
That_one_cool_dude Apr 1, 2026 +1
It is a shame that tubi is slow with the cartoon network acquisition uploads but tubi truly is a great place for old and weird shit.
1
Wolfram_And_Hart Mar 31, 2026 -19
Like being owned by Fox and showing who know what ads? Would you really trust your children in front of it without supervision?
-19

Did Elmer's also serve as a childhood snack for you?

Tubi lowkey is the best streaming service content-wise
75
Morgan-Moonscar Mar 31, 2026 +48
Mainly because they're following the model of "Other places will gladly pay **us** to stream this old stuff so they don't have to pay to keep it on theirs."
48
SoMuchMoreEagle Mar 31, 2026 +3
Does that save them money? I don't understand.
3
CJTus Mar 31, 2026 +9
It does for HBO Max at least. The Warner Bros. TV/film divisions charge HBO Max a licensing fee for any WB content even though both sides have the same parent company. HBO Max saves money when it removes WB content because removing it allows them to stop paying the licensing fee.

Ironic since it’s owned by Fox Corp…
3

Not ironic, it just means they have a LOT of money to spend on astroturfing like this to push people to their service
1
BLOOOR Apr 1, 2026 -1
That seems to be the phrase they're astroturfing. Fox are pushing Tubi so hard. They're Fox, they make Fox News. Boycott them. And watch out for that astroturfed "Common Win" branding.

That's great. It was so weird having Sesame Street as an HBO exclusive. That's not what Sesame Street is about.

justarand0mstan Mar 31, 2026 +15
The show never disappeared from PBS. New episodes are airing there to this day.
15
whogivesashirtdotca Apr 1, 2026 +5
Worth reminding people that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has been killed by Trump's cuts, and PBS has been gutted. If you can spare a few dollars these days, I'm sure they would welcome some donations.
5
faceintheblue Apr 1, 2026 +1
That's good to know. (I have nephews, but I don't see them often enough to have watched Sesame Street with them beyond the odd YouTube clip.)

Rupert Murdoch didn't sell Fox News, Sky News, and he didn't sell News Corp. And Fox, who Rupert Murdoch sold to Disney, are [working with Tubi](https://www.mediaweek.com.au/tubi-and-news-corp-australia-forge-exclusive-streaming-partnership/). But it's a problem when you see Rupert Murdoch's propaganda, like Fox News or even The Simpsons, the damage it does in the world.

Well, most people watched Sesame Street on PBS back in the day, so no commercials there. I'm not sure if they inserted commercials if it ran on other networks in other countries or not. Like for example, I remember watching the show on the CBC network from Canada, but I was 5 years old at the time, so don't honestly remember if they had commercials included or not.

Horror fans know Tubi is the GOAT. They'll stream things other services deem too weird or too niche - then are surprised that they blow up

Tubi keeps winning honestly. Already watch it after the kids go down and now theyre gonna be on it too. Sesame Street was the only thing that bought us 20 minutes of peace when they were little, I owe that show my sanity

What’s crazy is that the Republicans/Trump Admin spent so much time on a smear campaign against Sesame St/pbs and now News Corp (Fox News and Tubi) allows it to be streamed on its platform. Watch it elsewhere

If “FREE” just means I’m watching brain rot ads, count me out.

Going all the way back to the beginning. [When Oscar was orange](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jImf2S7ej2k). It's all good... up until that annoying red little twit Elmo ruined the show.

Nah Elmo is the Goat. I love him to death. Elmo in Grouchland is my childhood.

Elmo's like the "Sammy Hagar" of the Muppets. If all you know if those years, then you probably think it was pretty good. But the original Sesame Street lineup with Kermit Lee Frog was just so much better.

Ehhh.... Sesame Street was always better in small doses. They recycle segments. Its best watched as individual clips on YouTube. They genuinely make me laugh. Especially the Oscar the Grouch ones, the Bert and Ernie ones, The Cookie Monster ones, and the Elmo ones. 1 hour is way too long for a pre school show at least the older episodes were one hour. I will say they could get away with more stuff back in the day and that's funny.

Tubi is pretty much broadcast TV from back in the day. Enjoy your free entertainment with ads.

Listnook circle jerking over a Rupert Murdoch company in 2026 is certainly a choice.

Right? Fox Corp and its subsidiaries suck until it has content they like.
