He was knowingly spreading lies about the 2020 election. In private text messages he admitted the bullshit he spewed every night on tv was absolutely baseless. It’s not like he was simply mislead by Trump. He was an active participant in the propaganda and lies.

Well one of the theories i heard is that Trump started to cut people like him out so they stop "getting a piece of the pie". Basically they said he turned for not getting paid either with money or inside tips.

It is both really weird and really cool that we're at a place where computers can create pretty convincing digital puppets of real people.
7
Useful-Soup8161 3 days ago +7
Ok nvm that’s actually terrifying.
7
Confusion_of_Goblins 3 days ago +2
Yeah, it really is. There is some really terrifying tech we're working on. I want to be optimistic about it and hope we'll be responsible but as the saying goes, regulations are written in blood.
2
Useful-Soup8161 3 days ago +2
I’ve seen too much sci-fi to be optimistic about some of this.

His next ship is himself. He’s going to run as a Republican in 2028. Criticizing Trump is going to be very en vogue by that point, and he’ll be able to say he was one of the first to seriously criticize him.
33

Then everyone can play all of the “Daddy’s home” footage of Carlson celebrating Trump’s second term. He’s disgusting.
9
Due-Zucchini-8520 3 days ago +2
I've cleaned toilets during anime conventions and yet I never felt a stronger need to take a shower than after that "daddy's home" speech by Tucker. The ick could be felt deep in my bone marrow and I'm a dude, I don't usually feel the ick.
2

I think he’s going to run for president and is just setting himself up as the anti-Trump Republican.
8
Mama_Zen 3 days ago +6
Yep. And if he can get enough maga to turn their lightbulbs on by November, we may be looking at a whole different landscape come January
6
iamagoldengod84 3 days ago +22
Even if both of there's are true, he's the only one who has turned on trump and apologized. That's not for nothing. It may be a political career move but I can respect that he is doing what he can to make sure at least Trump loses all his credibility to the group that is the hardest to turn and most stubborn. Theyll never listen to someone outside of the camp. That will make them fight harder. But from inside, or was, this will move very little to the other side but will go far the disenfranchise and reduce motivation for maga associated candidates. Trumps clout was mainly generated for him but even his word will move the needle, this reduces the strength of his word to the main cult. At one point it will only be shapiro, hannity, and Trump's cabinet. Those who haven't jumped ship before the midterms are getting sucked down in the undertow. Maga hit an iceberg and the once unsinkable shit is going down hard and bringing with it all the conservative battle plan developed in the last 10 years
22
Luci-Noir 3 days ago +10
Marjorie Taylor Greene did it too, which is still kind of shocking. She’s been really vocal and stuck with it too. Tucker sucks, but this is a good thing. If people want to abandon trump it should be welcomed.

7
bearfootin_9 3 days ago +3
As long as folks don't start trusting him. I mean, a lot people on the blue side tried to make a hero out of Liz Cheney because she did one right thing after voting with Trump 99% of the time. I'm not inclined to give Carlson much slack because HE KNEW what Trump was and he shilled for him anyway. I think he's just changed the direction of his grift. He, and Taylor Greene, saw the Trump winds changing and are scrambling to adjust their brand for publicity's sake. They're both died-in-the-wool grifters, and gritters gonna grift.

3
SmoothConfection1115 4 days ago +3
Interesting. Tucker Carlson breaking with Trump. Though he’s still a two-faced liar, saying his misleading of people wasn’t intentional. It was definitely intentional. Though I guess he’s doing marginally better than Hannity. Who decided to stop being a Catholic because Trump and the pope had a disagreement. At least Carlson always hated Trump (per that lawsuit). He was just willing to deal with him because the paycheck was worth it. Just took him a long time to find whatever was left of his conscious.

A long time? Try generations. You know how (most) Americans felt Russia has been a bad guy after WWII and its only because Putin has pee tapes on Trump that the Republicans think its a good guy? This is how the world frames us at this point. We have been the boogeyman for a lot of countries for a while now, but our allies in Europe have kind of propped us up. But thats gone. All of our alliances are tenuous at best, and destroyed at worst. This will haunt your children, and their children, and likely their children.

From the article: “Carlson told Newsmax earlier this month, “I’ve always liked Trump and still feel sorry for him, as I do for all slaves. He’s hemmed in by other forces. He can’t make his own decisions. It’s awful to watch.” (He’s talking about Netanyahu as the “other forces”) So, he’s not bothered by taking away health care from millions of Americans, decreasing SNAP benefits and making them more difficult to access, cutting back school lunch programs, cutting the food programs to starving Africans and putting American farmers at risk because that program is not longer buying their surplus, trying to disenfranchise millions of Americans, increasing taxes on the middle and lower class to create tax breaks for the wealthy and on and on…Tucker’s ok with all of that. It’s the war in Iran that he thinks Trump started on Israel’s behalf. ***That*** is what he’s mad about. Apology not accepted. Try again.

Dude can't read writing on the wall. I can't fathom what anyone thought Trump would do and then surprised at them doing it. I didn't even need to know what he said what he was gonna do. I just looked at his character, of which he has none. He's slime and sleaze rolled into one package. Nothing good was going to come from putting him in office.

He didn’t “mis-lead” us, he knowingly lied about the truth. He has willingly helped with the destruction of our country from within. If we survive, it will be decades trying to repair everything that has been broken.
