Nothing shocking about it. He hated Trump when Carlson worked at Fox - there are texts of him calling Trump an idiot. Then he claimed to love Trump when he won. He's a grifter, and he senses the tides are turning. The rats are always the first to abandon a sinking ship...

moldivore 4 days ago +217
He's a piece of shit. He was more worried his audience would abandon him than that Trump was OBVIOUSLY trying to destroy our democracy. Let that sink in people.

ZackRaynor 4 days ago +52
He doesn’t care because he got his and he’s rich enough to flee if it get bad enough. F*** everyone else though. Story of the GOP.

Fishtoart 4 days ago +14
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if all the billionaires fleeing the chaos they created were denied entry everywhere in the civilized world, so they have to live in corrupt banana republic republics.
14
Big-Egg-1749 4 days ago +3
And give up most of they're wealth for entry.
3
wherescookie 4 days ago +2
sadly, they probably won't in our lifetimes...any billionaire can live in ultimate luxury on their fully staffed and supplied yacht/islands short of nuclear war. but if things get even exponentially worse, their ego's might register some worry that they even have to consider thinking about plan c

Once the Trump train starts to leave the station, he’ll jump right back on. Fickle but sickeningly loyal.

tommytheturtleishere 4 days ago +6
Totally agree. Hes an opportunist full stop. Can't trust those people
6
tommytheturtleishere 4 days ago +35
Seriously. I am terrified by how many people are getting seduced by this grifter. People in my life who have hated Trump from the beginning are sending me occassional Tucker clips. He is being very smart and effective right now and I can't believe its working. I am definitely of the belief of never believe liar even when they're telling the truth. Tucker believes in whatever will help Tucker and occasionally he'll spit out a good sounding take but even then its self serving
35
chumbawumbathefirst 4 days ago +6
Listnook itself is so gleefully posting his clips to the front page. I think that the sheer narrative hook of "bad guy says the right things" makes people feel good, it makes them feel like the world is returning to sanity. So they bite. They're not really concerned about the deep rot in the original behavior if the heel-face turn feels good.
6
tommytheturtleishere 4 days ago +3
Yeah. I feel very conflicted about where were heading. On one hand I feel like the country is waking up more than it ever has. I truly believe this is the first time in decades progressive policies have the opportunity to make a huge comeback. This all of course is assuming the GOP losing big in the midterms and that were not already too far down an authoritarian path. That being said, I feel like were gonna f*** this all up. The GOP is gonna convince half of america that progressives are communists and the DNC is gonna argue theyre too extreme and dont represent the Democratic party, which means the party hasnt learned literally anything. And the public is either apathetic to all of this, polarized to various extremes, or utterly media illiterate. Even just writing this out has me convinced were just gonna elect some other conman in 2028 because while people are waking up to what a piece of shit Trump is, I dont have faith they will learn the right lessons from this
3
chumbawumbathefirst 4 days ago +5
Even though it feels pessimistic I do agree with you. I feel it will have to go that way sheerly based on precedent - I remember being there in 2016 and being utterly astounded by the election. I remember thinking that, at least, we would all learn our lesson, and of course I was here again in 2024. I feel that there's just no historical basis to assume that the people can be "woken up." I think it's just too depressing to say the truth out loud: we've lost a war of attention, information and education as a class. We are absolutely capable of righting and correcting that, but, that capability is contingent on our recognizing and confronting the issue. But we're not going to, most likely, as disinformation reaches untold heights with no sign of stopping. We are collectively still unraveling exactly how malicious the systems we live in truly are, and I find it entirely possible that we will need generations for this to truly change. If, somehow, we can actually connect the will of the people to the system of governance, then we are ideologically poised for the best era of the nation yet. But as it stands the line is fully severed. The government does not represent our interests, has not represented our interests, and will not represent our interests without radical systemic change.

I think a big part of it is that we've all been waiting for the dam to break so when h******* MAGA crowd like MTG, Candace and Tucker start to openly excoriate Trump it feels good and so long overdue. For me I try not to lose sight of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". I will never forget that these people were willing participants in this nightmare though.
1
Ok_Bodybuilder800 4 days ago +16
And I think he has political ambitions, and he and folks like Marjorie Taylor Greene are fighting to be the next leader of the MAGA movement.
16
Otherwise_Surround99 4 days ago +3
Marjorie Taylor Greene entered Congress with a $300,000 net worth and is leaving with a $30 million dollar net worth. She is going to be content to sit on the sidelines
3
tommytheturtleishere 4 days ago +2
I f****** hate that im saying this but him winning the presidency in 2028 or 2032 is 100% plausible to me. Mainly because the Democrats are wildly incompetent and probably gonna push a terrible candidate
2
Ok_Bodybuilder800 4 days ago +3
I’m a little nervous as well about 2028. I actually like Harris probably more than most, and don’t think she should run again. (But looks like she will be..sigh). I get sleazy vibes from Newsom. Someone else had better emerge and quick.
3
Party-Chipmunk310 3 days ago +1
I think so too, but not with the MAGA group. I think he’s distancing himself from MAGA, not conservative values tho

I needed to look this up: Rats do abandon sinking ships by swimming away, thanks to their strong swimming ability—they nest low where flooding hits first and prioritize survival by fleeing to shore or another vessel. While not prophetic (they react to immediate threats like water, not distant storms), the sight reinforced the metaphor for disloyal people bailing on a failing venture.I needed to look this up: Rats do abandon sinking ships by swimming away, thanks to their strong swimming ability—they nest low where flooding hits first and prioritize survival by fleeing to shore or another vessel. Crucially, he goes on to say that if he misled anyone, it was not intentional. That’s straight up bullshit. It absolutely was intentional, we literally have court documents showing that he intentionally lied to his audience. This isn’t so much an apology as it is an attempt to rebrand/whitewash his actions in the past decade. It’s all just part of the grift.

While it’s true Tucker is a disingenuous, opportunistic peace of shit, it’s important that this stuff is signal boosted everywhere in MAGA circles as it will help to erode Trump’s base. Equally important is to not allow Tucker and people like him to launder their personas at the end of the Trump era. And god forbid allow them to try and step into the political void post Trump. There has to be permanent consequences for these demons.

I can only imagine the terrible things Republicans say about Trump behind closed doors. Politics aside, the man is an embarrassment. But this says more about Carlson than it does about Trump. So, Carlson has always hated Trump yet still publicly supported and praised him? And exactly why should anyone listen to you on any topic moving forward? And I realize people “evolve” but Vance publicly compared Trump to Hitler but now he thinks he is the second coming of Jesus Christ? That’s quite the evolution. I’m not buying it.

I would be upset at this, but I've always known he's a huckster and not to be trusted. > “You and I and everyone else who supported him — you wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him — we’re implicated in this for sure,” Tucker Carlson said. “It’s not enough to say, ‘Well, I changed my mind’ or, like, ‘Oh, this is bad. I’m out.’ It’s, like, in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now.” The problem is integrity. He has none. How can he be trusted now or going forward? As I said, I've known he's been a huckster. I think it's a good first step for him to come forward like this. That aside, the problem is that he's just one fish in the big huckster ocean.

Even if they never liked the guy, they still stood behind him and pushed his nonsense further than it ever should have gotten all this time. They were in on it. They were down with it. This is just as much theirs as it is his and their involvement must not be forgotten or forgiven.

If you think Trump losing support for cons means those cons are voting dem, you're probably wrong. Whoever the next repub candidate will be next time, the same blindness they had for Trump will kick in, their same fear of minorities, gays, women, etc... will kick in, and they vote repub again.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. This man is not sincere. He wants to be President in 2028 and he’s going to campaign to keep up the same cruelty as the Heritage Foundation, but also court those who are going to make anti-Israel their #1 priority.  He hates Israel in a “I support Russia” and anti-Semitic way rather than morally. We cannot let people of either side of the aisle fall for it.  Hr is best friends with Kevin Roberts, who runs the Heritage Foundation.
