They gave the soldier who smashed it and the one who filmed 30 days in jail and discharges. The 6 who watched and did not intervene got "disciplined" and the IDF replaced the statue with another one that has a gold finish.

lol, a golden statue of Jesus. Can't get anymore blind to your own faith.
485
plippityploppitypoop 1 day ago +348
It’s almost like Judaism isn’t Christianity
348
Niceromancer 1 day ago +114
You'd expect the town residents to voice conscers over building a GOLDEN IDOL of Jesus when building golden idols is something their book says specifically not to do.
114
Spiceguy-65 23 hr ago +95
The IDF could give a flying f*** less as to what the locals of that town want or like
95
Unlikely-Signal-5167 22 hr ago +42
It's literally not gold. And there are golden colored statues of Jesus in places. I think it's really copper or something
42
SaneSociopathPolitic 1 day ago +18
I think at this point they just wanted to be done dealing with the IDF
18
Niceromancer 23 hr ago +4
This is probably valid.
4
nw342 1 day ago +24
Do you really think the idf gives a f*** about what the locals think or want?
24
Jestersfriend 23 hr ago +10
Ah yes, let's complain to the racist pricks that just bashed my faith with a sledgehammer, rolling around town with guns, and destroying half of the country.
10
Midraco 1 day ago +5
The book tells them not to build idols of false Gods. It's hard to argue Jesus isn't a true God as a part of the Trinity.
5
BeastMasterJ 23 hr ago +19
Someone ought to go back a thousand years and let the Orthodox know you can't use gold when depicting Jesus.
19
KDR_11k 16 hr ago +2
Some subsections of Christianity did consider all those Jesus statues to be a form of idolatry but the major churches love their expensive decor.
2
NorthernerWuwu 20 hr ago +6
Well, depends on which book we want to talk about. OT is quite specific "**You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."** but the NT gets a lot more wishy-washy about things.
6
cinnamonspiderr 17 hr ago +8
> shall not make for **yourself** Replacing a destroyed statue for a different religion isn’t them putting another god before their god, and Jews certainly aren’t worshipping Jesus, so I wonder if that is the justification. Ethically speaking and from a secular view, replacing it seems like the right thing to do.
8
Jedbo75 15 hr ago +2
The Trinity is very arguable and there are entire denominations that are non-Trinitarian. When Jesus prays to his Father, calls out to him, it is enormously hard to reconcile that he would be doing so to himself. Also, for God to sacrifice his only begotten son to pay for humanity’s sins may carry less weight for some when considered that his son is…him, er, Him. Christ as God mostly seems to come from post-Gospel writings, less from his own words. God as 3 personages is damn near polytheistic in the eyes of many. Not necessarily taking a stance on my own views, as I’m comfortable not knowing shit (while still knowing as much as anyone else) but to say it’s hard to argue, even amongst those who consider themselves Christians, just ain’t so.
2
Red-Flag-Potemkin 20 hr ago +3
It’s incredibly easy to argue Jesus wasn’t god or the messiah.
3
Metahec 22 hr ago +2
I think it's a passive aggressive insult towards Christians since *they* don't recognize Jesus as anything special. They won't make golden figures of what they hold significant or holy, but f*** everybody else because their holiness doesn't count.

Bored_Interests 22 hr ago +7
So Judaism is from the Torah, which is almost the exact same as the Old Testament of the Bible. In the book of Exodus, the Israelites made a golden calf to worship prior to Moses making a trip up the mountain to get the 10 commandments. This story is the same across the Torah, the Bible, and the Quran. Those three religions are called the Abrahamic religions because they all share a number of stories, including the tale of Abraham as the founding father of Judaism and the spiritual ancestor to Christianity and Islam. Judaism isnt Christianity, youre right. But Christianity is Judaism with extra steps, and Islam is Judaism and Christianity with extra steps. So although they are not the same, it is common and accurate to conflate the 3 when it comes to stories from the Old Testament.
7
idiot500000 18 hr ago +2
Where are the 10 commandments in the Quran? They believe the entirety of the Tanakh has been corrupted by Satan. Like... No
2
Canada_Suck_it 18 hr ago +2
This is just wrong, you can see clear and obvious difference in how each prays, dietary laws, languages used, proselytizing, and major differences on ideas of afterlife.
2
supamario132 23 hr ago +27
Why? Making a gold statue to anything else would be ironic but veneration is a pretty central part of the religion. I would bet most catholics have at least 1 gold crucifix
27
alsotheabyss 21 hr ago +18
What? Have you never seen medieval iconography of the Trinity? It’s all covered in gold.
18
throwraW2 23 hr ago +37
It’s not their faith.
37
idiot500000 23 hr ago +19
The owner is Catholic. They do this.
19
Jestersfriend 23 hr ago +10
What are you talking about? Jesus isn't anyone special in Judaism. At most he was a preacher.
10
generic_tylenol 19 hr ago +2
"He chose...poorly."
2
XiaoDaoShi 12 hr ago +2
A statue of Jesus is already idolatry by Jewish standards (many Protestants also believe the same). Gold doesn’t make it extra sinful, even if it conjures that specific story from the bible.
2
KaiBahamut 22 hr ago +53
Smashing a statue of Jesus is a much more serious crime in the IDF than any r*** or child murder- Christians don’t care about that, but would care about vandalism of a statue of Jesus.
53
enjoycarrots 21 hr ago +40
It hurt the wrong people, most notably their PR with Christian Zionists.
40
kstargate-425 18 hr ago +4
This unfortunately all its about. Their only remaining supporters and they couldn't have that. Theyve got $150 MILLION annually to spend for hasbara and buying politicians through 2030 to try and fix it but its not making a dent anymore thankfully
4
ozneoknarf 22 hr ago +14
Seems fair, destroying a statue shouldn’t get you years in jail
14

Will the jail be stormed by israelis wanting to free them like they did with the soldiers who knife raped a guy?

A country having *PRO* r*** riots in the modern day is absolutely insane and yet here we are. Something something most moral army or whatever
542
Round-Medicine2507 1 day ago +142
Well the whole Republican party is pro r*** unless the offender is caught on public cctv or has darker skin.

Israel only respects Zionism. The world needs to turn our backs on them

How about the dog handlers? I refuse to expand on this. iykyk, and I'm sorry you've been cursed with the knowledge.
88
Jay-Dee-British 23 hr ago +22
Yeah I wish I could un-know this. I'd like a factory reset from before hearing about this, thanks.
22
nobadhotdog 23 hr ago +7
i don't know, what is this?
7
yuje 23 hr ago +64
There are reports that the IDF has been [using dogs to r*** prisoners](https://www.middleeasteye.net/big-story/palestinians-raped-israeli-jailers-speak-out)
64
3nterShift 19 hr ago +19
Just when I think these ghouls can't get more comically evil, I get hit with another steel chair of crimes against humanity. No wonder they love their thought-terminating cliché so much. You start sounding insane and like a genuine antisemite the moment you start describing what's happening.
19
Metahec 22 hr ago +5
Knife raped a guy? I missed that one. I did see that they absolved the group who gang raped a prisoner and ousted the lady who blew the whistle on them though.
5
h8sm8s 19 hr ago +10
They have even trained dogs to r*** prisoners. Multiple surviving victims have spoken out about it. It’s one of the worst things I have ever read.
10
Metahec 18 hr ago +3
That's enough internet for me today. How revolting.
3
naththegrath10 21 hr ago +75
Let’s be real, the IDF only cares because the images spread online
75
kstargate-425 18 hr ago +13
Yeah it hurt their Christian zionist supporters which are the only ones left so had to do something as spending $150 MILLION annually through 2030 isnt doing the job anymore.
13
Ramoncin 1 day ago +425
Jailed for this but nor for raping Palestinians?
425
Walnut_Uprising 1 day ago +144
Because this pisses off the evangelicals who are indirectly funding the IDF.
144
TheLego_Senate 22 hr ago +48
Exactly. You can do whatever you want but don't f*** with the money.
48
Hussar223 22 hr ago +51
the only reason this happened is because it pissed off the american evangelical right wing, the biggest israeli supporting demographic in the US. cant let them realize that israel wants to ethnically cleanse everyone from southern lebanon. not just muslims
51
FinndBors 19 hr ago +7
> the biggest israeli supporting demographic in the US. Given the population of Israel, it’s the biggest in the world.
7
janethefish 23 hr ago +28
It just shows they CAN act quickly to punish if they feel like it. It shows that r*** has Israeli government support.
28
Listerine_Panther 1 day ago +52
Well of course. Sadly, Jesus is the one people care about. Or rather, idols of someone else's description of him.
52
BulldogMoose 23 hr ago +15
They’re only punishing them because they have to.
15
TerriblePokemon 23 hr ago +7
Careful, break too many Jesus statues and the American evangelicals in congress (who support Israel in order to bring about the apocalypse and the second coming of Jesus) might get pissy and withhold funding.
7
MedicineExtension925 22 hr ago +2
Yeah you don't want to piss off your donors after all
2
spicymemesdotcom 20 hr ago +2
Recognize the hierarchy.   Christians= worth saving  Muslims= not worth saving

Look, after the [Hula massacre](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hula_massacre) they jailed the officer in charge for a whole year. What more do you want?

Acceptable-Peace-69 23 hr ago +41
Killings Since 2020: Over 1,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli settlers and soldiers in the West Bank since 2020. Impunity Rates: Data indicates that 93.8% of investigations into ideologically motivated crimes by settlers against Palestinians (including killings) are closed without an indictment. Soldier Prosecutions: Between 2018 and 2022, only 1.5% of complaints against soldiers led to charges, with the probability of a soldier being prosecuted for killing a Palestinian at 0.4%. Conviction Rate: As of early 2025, only 3% of investigated cases of settler violence since 2005 resulted in a conviction. In March 2026, the Israeli Knesset passed a law authorizing the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis, which critics note applies exclusively to Palestinians, while Israeli settlers charged with killing Palestinians in the same territory face civilian courts with a low conviction rate.

ShibeCEO 18 hr ago +22
so THATS where we draw the line?!? f****** clownshow...
22
Infinite-Two7690 16 hr ago +2
I feel this is a really insensitive and honestly appalling comment, there are legitimate clownshows in the world who would be deeply offended by the comparison...
2
thefrozenorth 21 hr ago +17
It's ok to kill thousands of Palestinians but don't upset the American Evangelicals who pay for everything because they need Israel for the Rapture.
17
wyvernx02 19 hr ago +12
Punished for getting caught doing it, not for actually doing it.

So they will "jail" idiots smashing a statues but will riot over literal f****** rapists? What a disgrace of a nation and people
26
secretqwerty10 23 hr ago +3
>literal f****** rapists that guy was arrested first, then the riots happened. who knows, maybe zionists will do the same for these guys

Why do I get the feeling that “jailed” means hidden from zionists.
58
onegumas 1 day ago +41
Hidden from news for 2 weeks and then released. As always.
41
whereismymind86 18 hr ago +4
Says a lot that this is what generates outrage and gets a soldier arrested, not all the genocide
4
charlies_brain 18 hr ago +4
Israelis have a N word equivalent for Christians. They literally crucified Christ, but stupid Christians still think they love Jesus.
4
FineBumblebee8744 16 hr ago +2
Christians made the guy that stabbed Jesus a saint https://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=11 But sure keep claiming 'the Jews' killed Jesus

2

Are they going to rebuild all the homes they bombed for fun?

"Two Israeli Soldiers Jailed for Getting Caught" Fixed
3
nickyinnj 16 hr ago +3
This is surprising. A statue gets justice but not the displaced people bring used for shooting sport. ... Reading. EDIT after reading: I'm a Christian, and they can smash all the Jesus statues they want. Just stop destroying and bombing homes and displacing civilians. I'm still shocked that this is the act of the IDF out of all their documented behaviors that gets punished.
3
Hunter_Aleksandr 21 hr ago +4
Only because it made their optics worse. F*** Israel. Free Palestine. Free the Jewish people from being forced to be associated with Israel.
4

How about the one who r*** and/or commit warcrime now ? We have 6000 french citizen who served for tsahal in gaza , and they are roaming free in france . Im SO DONE . F israel .
3

They can excuse targeting aid workers but smashing a statue of Christ is where they draw the line
3
Ornery-Childhood1782 1 day ago +3
Smashing Jesus = bad. Raping prisoners = good.
3
spoogicus 21 hr ago +2
Kill tens of thousands of women and children, no problem and no apology. But you smash one little status of the Jeebus? Straight to jail and a formal apology from Bibi.
2
Rivitur 20 hr ago +2
So wait. Are the Jews pro or anti killing Jesus I'm confused
2
W1nn3tou 13 hr ago +2
Killing children is fine, but do not cross the line of smashing a dudes statue /s
2
Sparrahs 13 hr ago +2
So you can’t do that to a statue of a Palestinian man? Real Palestinian people can be killed by the thousands with no repercussions though.
2
CUTTYONE70 21 hr ago +3
Jail I'm sure it's a country club type of setup.
3
fcatw 20 hr ago +2
So that’s what it takes to jail an Israeli soldier?
2
SnarkyPuppy-0417 19 hr ago +1
Somehow this is more offensive than murdering children?

lol the goalpost just moves further. Ya’ll were up in arms about statues all of a sudden and Israel did something and now it’s “WHAT ABOUT THIS?!?” Insufferable

Jailed for destroying a statue but not for raping inmates, Justice at its finest.
1
ExterminAiden 1 day ago +2
If they are actually jailed then good, but I imagine that’s a complete lie by them. Or at worst they just got fired.
2
AvidCyclist250 22 hr ago +1
It's what happens if you don't have a professional army. More or less laymen soldiers make for shit and undisciplined soldiers. Also easily scared and stressed soldiers, which is never good.
1
vb2509 21 hr ago +1
So when do they get medals for it?
1
Redowl199 21 hr ago +1
