Yeah, it's kind of existential for them. If they can't export oil, their economy collapses. And then they'd have to work out a deal with Iran in order to export their oil. Which would likely force them to expel any US forces in their territory... making them vulnerable to Iranian pressure/threats.

Pretty sure they also import practically all of their food. It’s SUPER existential for them.

They have another shoreline you know to import goods

I imagine it’s an issue of port infrastructure and scale.

For things like oil and natural gas yes...for food and water those are easier to import

Is this special shoreline outside the range of shaheds and missiles?

That's what the defense systems are for...Dubai also isn't out of the range of drone and missles, but bombing food when they also can import from land is not only stupid but will also lead to their own food, water, and power being bombed

The defense systems that have not stopped all incoming threats?

What can the UAE do that the US can't? This problem isn't a financial or manpower problem but a geographical problem. All it takes is one mine or drone hit and all shipping companies are f****** of and this problem can't be fixed without boots on the ground in Iran and then it is still going to be nearly impossible to fix as Yemen has shown.

we are still for now in the world where US presence means something. they think if the US parks a carrier of the coast everything will be resolved

Pretty sure we already have 2 there with a 3rd on the way. Doesn't seem to be helping.

That only works if the carriers are not used once the war happens and they are shown to be insufficient in achieving the military objective, then they lost a lot of their power.

The GCC Arab nations already taking part since day 1 when they allowed the U.S and Israel to use their military bases and air space to launch attack against Iran. It is funny that they have been trying to distance themselves from the war, the war is GCC-US-Israel vs. Iran, not just US-Israel.

The GCC countries didn’t allow for those bases to be used to attack Iran. They told Iran before the war that they wouldn’t let the US use their bases and air space to attack Iran. Iran didn’t care.

US CENTCOM literally released videos at the start of the war showing land based HIMARS systems launching rockets into Iran from an "unspecified location". With only 300km range on these things it could only be from GCC countries.

Iraq is not a GCC country, Iraq does not control much of its territory and the US has bases there.

UAE came out today and directly denied this article and that they maintain a purely defensive posture. Check the national (UAE news site)
