I only want a biopic about mma people if they make the rock look like whoever it’s about

It will surely put Tom Holland's French Canadian accent to the test.

Who will be playing the role of Matt Serra?

Probably Matt Serra

From my very limited knowledge of MMA (and it's fun not to google) GSP was a bin man before he became a professional fighter?

I think so, but he had also grown up doing Kyokushin Karate, and is probably one of the best athletes ever to end up doing MMA.

“There’s only three things in this world that turns me on: Dinosaurs, women and fighting” -GSP

Him beating Bisping in MSG will make for a solid ending.

spacewithoutstars Mar 24, 2026 +3
Should be the beginning and end of the movie. Like Walk Hard. GSP needs to think about his entire life before he fights.

As an MMA fan, this will make for a much more interesting biopic than The Smashing Machine.

Was such a weird pick to take Kerr. GSP is a much bigger name so I expect the movie to do better off that alone
3
goodkid_sAAdcity Mar 24, 2026 +4
Seems like it was because there was already a documentary made about Kerr to work off of

Dang, they’re really making a movie about that bit actor in the MCU? What next? Are they gonna make one about that bald YouTube chef Volkanovski?

Batroc the Leaper?

I can't even imagine what this movie could be about. As far as i know, there was never any big personal struggles going on in GSP's life or professional career, he haven't had much of a rivalry with any of his opponents, he's been gifted from the get go, trained with some of the best coaches, he never been an underdog or anything. Like, what's supposed to be the drama in his story?

-SneakySnake- Mar 24, 2026 +7
He's famously also really nice, so you can't even have that "talented dickhead" angle.
7
iz-Moff Mar 24, 2026 +6
Yep, he's like exactly the wrong person to make a subject of a typical sports drama. He had a couple of losses, but that's perfectly normal in MMA, and otherwise, his career was about as smooth of a sail as any fighter could hope for.

ShowTurtles Mar 24, 2026 +6
He mentioned some mental health issues. GSP supposedly had severe enough OCD that he would do reps beyond exhaustion to not have to deal with the stress of not hitting his number. There's also something that could be made with the fight for better drug testing and dealing with the jackassery of Dana White and Johny Hendricks in that instance. He's also had multiple impressive returns from injuries and retirement that could be compelling mountain to climb stories. GSP doesn't have obvious stories, but there could be a few compelling options.

goodkid_sAAdcity Mar 24, 2026 +3
It’ll probably be dramatized so that movie GSP is more expressive and emotional than real life GSP

jfresh21 Mar 25, 2026 +2
He got ulcerative colitis

Paladar2 Mar 24, 2026 +8
Bullied as a kid, put his anger into MMA. Had two crushing losses that he avenged. Came back after a 4 year break to become champ again then retired. Sure it’s nothing insane but with a good director it can be awesome.
8
ithinkther41am Mar 24, 2026 +7
I can imagine a few points they would 100% use: - his loss to Matt Hughes because he was mentally unprepared to fight someone he idolised and how he bounced back - his loss to Matt Serra because he severely underestimated him and how he bounced back - the controversial Johny Hendricks fight and him contending with the idea that he’s not on that level anymore - the struggles he faced in the lead up to the Michael Bisping fight

his struggle with slippery pills

does a biopic always have to be drama tho?

Half of it will be an alien abduction scene

Hope it includes his run has the spokesperson for a gambling website illegal in his own country.

MutFox Mar 25, 2026 +1
Hopefully it goes into Ulcerative Colitis, as it's a disease that doesn't get much exposure, but it's what hurt him near the end of his career unfortunately...

Failedmusician87 Mar 24, 2026
Much like the book he "wrote", I assume this movie will be slop. I love GSP, he's my favourite MMA fighter ever, but I don't think he's biopic worthy lol.

Admitone83 Mar 24, 2026
2nd half of the movie will be him just jabbing things...boring like half his fights near the end XD Strategic..but boring.

MBNC88 Mar 24, 2026
His career wasn’t exciting enough for this. It will be a 90 minute flick of guys smothering each other wet blanket style. It’s a borderline Heated Rivalry sequel, but all of the guys grinding on each other happens during the sport, not outside of it.
