"Weird. Someone left this perfectly good oil floating around during a global shortage. Oh well."

RightofUp Mar 26, 2026 +13
I mean, technically in British waters…..

Deacon86 Mar 26, 2026 +3
Great! Now all we need are some armed forces to do the boarding.

Ancient_Sun_2061 Mar 27, 2026 +1
And some arms, that can actually force things

Is there a lot of Russian ships sailing within 20km of UK? Unless they mean the British fishing zones of 200km where they are now going to do piracy

StatisticianOne8287 Mar 26, 2026 +1
They sail through the channel frequently. Gibraltar too.

UK and russia aren't at war. This is scantions enforcement.

MadRaymer Mar 26, 2026 +9
Given the corruption the Ukraine war exposed in Russia's military I'm not entirely certain they are a nuclear power. Those warheads require constant maintenance to remain functional. Granted, they had a hell of a lot of them and it only takes a few of the big boys to really kick things off. So I'm not saying the rest of the world should be eager to take that bet. But *if* it happens, I wouldn't be shocked if they had very few functional warheads available.

X2946 Mar 26, 2026 +1
Thats the impression I have been getting for a while. They have a lot of things that were never maintained. Like when my father died he bragged about his 14 muscle cars. What he never brought up is every one of them needed a full restoration that would likely cost more time and money than buying them already restored and running from someone else. I am pretty sure Putin has a few working but nothing close to what he claims. He should have been able to level Ukraine quickly

I’ve said since day one that if Russia fired off its nukes worst case scenario one would probably land like a lawn dart on the national mall and let out a loud wet fart
2
Low-Republic-4145 Mar 26, 2026 +3
Russia has 6,000 nuclear warheads. I wouldn’t bet our lives on plenty of them not working exactly as they were designed to.
3
MadRaymer Mar 26, 2026 +2
That would probably be why I said they had a hell of a lot of them and the rest of the world shouldn't be eager to bet on this theory.

Yes this is called responsible management of authoritarianism. Democracies need to fight hard against any country not a democracy. Hungary next if the elections get rigged. Boot them out the EU.

>Starmer said: “Putin is rubbing his hands at the war in the Middle East because he thinks higher oil prices will let him line his pockets. That’s why we’re going after his shadow fleet even harder, not just keeping Britain safe but starving Putin’s war machine of the dirty profits that fund his barbaric campaign in Ukraine. Nice of Starmer to not talk at all about the barbaric war against the Iranian people, why wont he use that energy when talking about Trump? Pussies too scared to stand up to Dumpy need to stand aside and shut up.

Ukraine is an ally and Iran is an adversary. Do you really think it's equivocal?
11
JaronJervis Mar 26, 2026 -1
Innocent people are being killed in Iran, are they not equal???
-1
Mediocre_A_Tuin Mar 26, 2026 +3
Morally, I would say yes. It's awful what is happening im Iran. But, that just doesn't translate into what is politically or practically possible.
3
blzrlzr Mar 26, 2026 +42
Because the US is an ally and russia is an adversary attacking an ally. I hate the war in iran but this is a false equivalency.
42
Veretons Mar 26, 2026 +2
Yeah ally that threatens you with tariffs and seven hell's the moment you do something it doesn't approve of....
2
Stormychu Mar 26, 2026 +1
Iran and Russia are both bad. US and UK are allies helping each other.

Magdovus Mar 27, 2026 +1
Took long enough. This is embarrassing.
