He can’t blame his mental health issues for being a bad person

Kanye West is an antisemite

But aren’t his mental health issues the reason he said that in the first place? edit: nevermind he did more than I thought

Same with Chris Brown.

Eh. I talked to a friend about this recently. Ye said insanely hateful things but he was also clearly mentally unwell at the time. My friend was mixed on canceling him forever because hee dealt with friends who had similar issues. Chris brown is a weirder case because he's a pos woman beater. But said woman he beat forgave him and is/was also one of his biggest supporters. So it's raises the question of why you're angry if the victim isn't
-113
AntiSocialFCK 6 days ago +52
There’s being Mentally unwell and then theres releasing a track called Heil Hitler. “Mental Health isn’t your fault but it is your responsibility” The guys got money to get help but spends it making albums glorifying Hitler. His music is also a pile of shit so we’ve double lucked out there.
52
nascarguy19199 5 days ago
New music or old stuff? Because his recent music is indeed ass. Old stuff, I would disagree.

Dude Ye has been openly antisemtic for like 6 years, he made a heil Hitler song last year. He also wore a white lives matter shirt with Candice Owen’s at Paris fashion week. He’s a bigoted piece of shit and deserves to be canceled

He didn’t just beat up Rihanna, if that’s who you’re talking about that forgives him? Tho idk if she’s a big supporter. He’s beat up and abused multiple women and I don’t think they forgave him at all
26
Ok-Temporary-8243 6 days ago -30
Yeah, I'm talking about rihanna. She had a pretty major crash out at everyone who supported her when the said it's kinda fucked up to go back to the person who beat you

2

Lol kayne isnt even the most influential rapper of the 21st century
1
skipsfaster 4 days ago +2
Who is? Also Kanye’s influence is much more about production and sampling than pure rapping.
2
reasonableconsumer 4 days ago +1
Does piecing together other people's songs make you a great artist? It's lazy producing, his biggest songs are off the backs of real musicians and I'm saying that as a producer. I guess everyone's opinions are different but I'm not gonna give credit for a whole century to a guy who was hot for the first 10 years of it. Unfortunately the most influential rapper of this century so far was Drake and now Kendrick has that spotlight. People drop what they're doing to listen to Kendrick now, people wouldn't stop anything to listen to another poopity scoop by Kanye.
1
skipsfaster 4 days ago +1
Kanye is literally selling out an arena tour despite not putting out good music in 8 years. Drake is more commercially successful but he’s not as sonically influential. Drake’s sound takes heavily from 808s & Heartbreak. Kendrick is similarly acclaimed to Kanye but he’s nowhere close to as influential; he’s much more in his own lane. Think of it this way: who’s the most prominent artist that would consider Kendrick their biggest influence? Maybe JID or Baby Keem? Same question for Drake—probably Jack Harlow, Nav, and PartyNextDoor. Meanwhile, Kanye has a clear link to Drake, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, Tyler The Creator, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Chance The Rapper, and more.

Most people just aren't aware of all of the things he did or said, and to be honest, even fewer care. They should, but they don't, and that's unfortunately reality.
9
RenderedMeat 6 days ago +9
They say he “apologized” and it’s all in the past. You don’t just say “my bad” to that shit and get to make millions more.
9
Riffsalad 5 days ago +1
Unfortunately with the way people’s attention spans are nowadays he probably can. I bet if he drops another album that’s as good as his early stuff I’ll be hearing some of my liberal but not so online friends talk about how good it is.

Yeah, true. I should’ve written “shouldn’t be able to say”.

I know 3 people with bipolar and not a single one of them has a bedazzled swastika sweatshirt.
4
Lazy-Interests 5 days ago -5
Oh well if you know 3 people with bipolar you obviously know how bipolar affects everyone who has it, I didn’t realise you had such intimate experience with the disorder.
-5
LinkEfficient9934 4 days ago +1
I honestly don't give a f*** if he has bipolar or not. I bought that fuckers music, religiously for 15 years. Not only did he stop putting quality into that music, he did not use the money he was given to get himself the help he needs. There are so many people living with bipolar, who don't have the resources Kanye has. Being bipolar doesn't give you a pass to act whatever way you like. If it seemed like he wasn't self medicating with whippits I'd maybe understand, but yeah, the dude doesn't help himself then gets all spooky when he's come out of a manic rant like "oh I'm sowwy I didn't mean too". if this dumb m*********** would just just 1 of his millions to get himself some help this shit wouldn't be happening.

As an American living in the UK, I am often bemused at how shallow the knowledge of certain American celebrities is among the British public. The Chris Brown concert selling out earlier last year is an example

cmere-2-me 5 days ago -2
Well if you would deal with your criminals then the rest of us don't need to do it for you.
-2
MachineGlumkelly 5 days ago -2
This is such a stupid comment I don’t even know where to begin. Chris Brown’s domestic violence cases that I’m aware of happened years ago. Based on Google the average jail time in the UK for domestic violence is 6-12 months. So by your own domestic law standards he would have been out of jail years ago. Then he’d be right back to performing. Maybe his audience shrinks during the jail time. Still doesn’t prevent concerts from happening
-2
cmere-2-me 5 days ago -1
>Then he’d be right back to performing. Only if **he has an audience**. In the rest of the world he wouldn't be able to sell his ass after he did tike for beating up Rihanna.
-1
MachineGlumkelly 5 days ago
Buddy he was convicted in 2009. He has had like 3 world tours since then. He has played in the UK multiple times since then. The only country that i can find he’s been denied from is Japan. You’re just so wrong in so many ways and still sitting on your high horse. Take like 90 seconds to google things before you respond.
0
cmere-2-me 5 days ago +1
Because he is **allowed**
1
MachineGlumkelly 5 days ago
Yeah so allowing a criminal to come into your country, perform multiple concerts, and generate god knows how much money off the concerts doesn’t equate to you dealing with our criminals for us. It’s the exact opposite.

He ran his mouth, he applied for a visa, and was rejected because of what he’s gone on record saying. Just because Americans have to tolerate idiots like these doesn’t mean the rest of the world is required too.
24
HordeDruid 5 days ago +4
Vocal support of Nazism and facism IS inciting violence. Violence is always the result and end goal of those ideologies. Either way, can't blame the UK government for denying him entry over his love a man that bombed their country for 8 months.
4
Admirable_Cicada_881 5 days ago +1
Exactly
1
SoulCycle_ 5 days ago -5
look i get what you’re saying but i think this is a slippery slope here. I agree in this case but i dont think the government should have a hand in deciding which ideologies will eventually down the line result in “inciting violence” But also kanye is a basically harmless crazy person so im not sure the case by case argument works here tbh.
-5
HordeDruid 5 days ago +6
Facism is fundamentally a violent idealogy, and Kanye was specifically praising Hitler, the most well-known facist, who used the dictatorial power inherent to said idealogy to commit genocide. There's no "down the line" here, the mass murder already happened.

He said something like he just wanted to spread "peace and goodwill". So, why can't the idiot spread it in the US instead of traveling to the UK for a music festival? Headlining a 3 day event in another country is the only way? He can pay his GF to walk around naked in LA anytime.

Hilariously some of his biggest songs use the beats from iconic songs. So Kanye’s “genius” is taking proven audio hits and yapping some random bullshit on it. Stronger is basically the exact audio of a Daft Punk song…of course it was going to be a hit. If I added random lyrics to Daft Punk tracks I’d sell a million songs too.

1
Purrmymeow 4 days ago
There is a difference between sampling some songs and build your career on samples. Kanye is more of the second one.
0
No_Performance8070 4 days ago +2
Then you build a career off it. It takes a lot of creativity to find the right samples. Then you have to build the production around a relatively short loop (although not all samples are used as loops) and keep it dynamic and interesting. He will also completely change the atmosphere and intention of the original music to fit his vision. Virtually all hip-hop is sample based but Kanye got his reputation for how he is able to use those samples. Even artists he has sampled from have commented on how creatively he uses their music. Plus, Kanye is known for bringing a more melodic style into the genre, creating some of his songs from scratch or using minimal sampling. He also often draws from unexpected places. You can find YouTube videos comparing the sample to the final product and you can see exactly all the things that changed and how creatively they are used. Composers borrow phrases and techniques from each other all the time. Film scoring is largely built on the convenience of borrowing ideas from established/historical composers in a way that fits the mood of the film. Doesn’t mean all film composers all make equally good work or that the production doesn’t take a lot of creativity. Hip-hop is built off sampling in part because the people making it originally didn’t have access to instruments and studios etc. Once artists had the ability to do that kind of thing, it became an interesting hybrid. Kanye, for example, has a live album (not officially released) all done with an orchestra backing

The festival’s organizers confirmed the ban and said the entire three-day festival was being canceled as a result. Ye’s travel authorization had been blocked on the grounds that the performer’s presence in the U.K. would not be “conducive to the public good,” the BBC said, citing the Home Office. Ye had been expected to perform in front of around 150,000 revelers July 10-12 at the open-air festival in London’s Finsbury Park. Earlier, a senior member of the British government said Ye should “absolutely not” play at the festival. Ye had responded to the controversy by offering to meet members of the U.K.’s Jewish community and show he has changed since provoking outrage with antisemitic statements.
