818

Tom Hanks character is based in part on a true story https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehran_Karimi_Nasseri Though "inspired" by a true story is maybe a better explanation than "based"

Nazi did it to himself. Now he's gonna start complaining loudly and blaming Jews.
386
The_Flying_Jew 3 days ago +151
And it's funny that I was just seeing some Kanye fans talk about how he apologized and is trying to make up for what he said and did. Let's assume that's true (it most likely isn't lol), he's probably just gonna fall back into that nazi hole and start blaming British Jews for canceling him. Hell, this isn't even the first time he's tried to "apologize and make up for his actions". I still remember when he made that Instagram post about how he watched 21 Jump Street and apologized to all Jewish people after watching Jonah Hill in that movie. Then he made Heil Hitler and WW3.

174
TheDrAlbrhect 3 days ago +91
Remember Trump said point-blank about a black Republican member of the House “he’s one of the good ones”. That’s why. They’re self-hating and drank the kool-aid. Back when I was a “libertarian” and was in college republicans, many of the students of color in the org believed that liberals “give them” success rather than earning it by their own hard work, that liberals “pander to” them and “baby” them.

To genuinely answer... It's not "supporting Nazis". He IS a Nazi. - He believes that Jews are oppressing all other religious/ethnic groups, particularly black people and Christians - He blames modern world problems on a Jewish conspiracy to corrupt Christian morals - He believes white/black racism comes from Jews playing races against each other - He believes that Hitler tried to put an end to the conspiracy and was subsequently rewritten as the most evil man in history

The Kanye sub isn’t very happy about this one. It’s honestly been shocking the amount of people who are just fine with what he did and want to hand wave it away like it never happened or it wasn’t really that big of a deal.

This one will always confuse me. I mean sure, he's got mental health and addiction issues but not even counting his brutal assault on Rihanna, his rap sheet is huge and full of violent altercations. If you have mental health issues but don't do anything to try to treat them, then you can't keep using them as an excuse for beating the shit out of people

The Kanye sub was hand waving it at peak nazi rhetoric…now they want to tell you everything is good and that ye has shown the utmost contrition, and oh….havent you heard? Hes mentally ill and that just easily defaults to antisemitism (and anti-black).
32
Modern_Bear 3 days ago +54
I read the sub because of your post and it is stupid on steroids. People there act like he is God's gift to music and political commentary. Kanye is a troll and an idiot, nothing more. Also, that sub is poorly moderated. They have multiple threads on the same topic instead of consolidating them. It's a mess.

It's more pathetic that people are more upset with Chappel Roan and that hotel incident and even after it's been proven that she didn't do it and the guard wasn't hers compared to a literal nazi having a top selling album and getting extremely close to selling out major concerts. Slightly annoying woman is viewed as at least as bad as self-declared nazi who called for a second holocaust and sold hitler clothing.

> They literally banned any support of Palestine Not that it wasn't still a massive overreach, but they banned Palestine Action, a specific group because of their activities (damaging military equipment), not any support for Palestine.
17
thermalsocks 3 days ago +13
They literally did not. We can support Palestine all we like, and many do. The ban was on one specific direct action group who were breaking into military bases, and causing damage to companies and premises that they linked to the military. You can argue that their cause and methods are justified or not, but its not true to say that we in the UK cannot support Palestine.

Yes, you can be stripped of your citizenship for some crimes but you cannot become stateless so it applies to dual citizens only (you can become become stateless briefly, but you have to be able to obtain other citizenship to be stripped of the British one)

3scap3plan 3 days ago +40
Tommy Robinson is a UK resident though isn't he? Its a lot different than someone from outside the UK trying to gain entry? He's consistently been in legal hot water, contempt of court, losing appeals etc. What do you mean, "not a peep"? He's had various arrests, prison sentences etc. Martin Sellner (Austria): Leader of the anti-migration group *Generation Identity*; barred in 2018 for posing a "serious threat to the fundamental interests of society" Lauren Southern (Canada) & Brittany Pettibone (USA): Barred in 2018 alongside Sellner to prevent the incitement of racial hatred and community tensions. Pamela Geller & Robert Spencer (USA): Co-founders of *Stop Islamization of America*; banned in 2013 from speaking at a march due to views that could "foster hatred". Geert Wilders (Netherlands): Dutch MP initially refused entry in 2009 for his film *Fitna*, which was judged threatening to public order, though his message has since gained more visibility.  [https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-43393035](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-43393035) [https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/combatting-anti-muslim-hatred-uk-statement-to-the-osce](https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/combatting-anti-muslim-hatred-uk-statement-to-the-osce)

As someone who has very surface level knowledge of what Kanye has said and done (as well as him as a person in general). I heard this was a very sad case of someone being genuinely unwell and experiencing symptoms of psychosis and he apologised when he recovered, which I would assume grant some degree of sympathy and I guess waiting on how he acts going forward. But from what I’ve see in comments people are universally against him, so it looks like maybe what I heard is wrong?
