Yeah, I think it's kind of sad that geopolitics has sort of defaulted to being announced for the public on Twitter, but it's the unfortunate reality we are in. Zelensky handled this as well as anyone could possibly be expected to given the circumstances. Russia made this bed, now they lie in it and if they complain they'll look even more like fools than they already do. What little credibility and goodwill they might have had should disappear with this move, whether it will however is another matter.

Ukraine may very well target something else entirely during this period as Russia will likely shift their defences to the parade. Comments like this may encourage them to shift even more.

Receuitment is still at full swing, but it is lower then for example during the Crocus attack. They blamed it on Ukraine, and even though ISIS actively claimed it, there was a huge spike in volunteers for the war effort. An attack on a parade which marks a significant cultural scar on Russians will absolutely get some more angry people rushing to join.

The sign up bonuses are too good and everyone’s assuming the war will end soon and they’ll get to go home. Also, if they die, the compensation their family will (supposedly..) receive is more money than most rural Russians could expect to generate in their entire working lives. It’s bleak as hell, but that’s because Russia is bleak and cynical as hell.
