Please pump these numbers up, when I get old I want to live in a world without Russia as we know it.

The flip side is that Russia's strikes on Ukraine are extremely costly for Ukraine too. E.g. the cost estimate for rebuilding Ukraine is in excess of $500 billion (over $150 million/day spread out over a decade). Point being: Even if Russia is hurting it may not be a winning strategy in the long run.

> it may not be a winning strategy in the long run. When you're fighting for your survival, anything which limits your enemy's ability to wage war is a 'winning strategy in the long run' It's not like if Ukraine stopped attacking Russia's oil infrastructure Russia would stop destroying Ukranian infrastructure (not to mention Russia also targets hospitals, kindergartens, supermarkets, public transport infrastructure etc etc)

I was thinking today about things that have destabilised my country in the last few decades, and it was mostly things caused by the US: - Iraq & Afghanistan wars - Refugee crises - 2008 Financial Crisis - Social Media (algorithmic manipulation, monetisation) - Anti-climate change lobbying Not to say the US are the only bad actors (Russia shares a lot of the blame), but I feel my life would have been way more chill if the US had leaders who focused more on improving the quality of life for US citizens, rather than imperalism and individual wealth gain.

The russian people could be sitting pretty right now, using this money to improve infrastructure and healthcare and education, if only putin's idiotic adventurism had not locked them into a bloody and unwinnable war, waged on the flimsiest of pretenses. Instead all of this money will be spent on bombs and drone swarms, and death benefits for the impoverished and hopeless hundreds of thousands from the interior who putin is nakedly bribing to serve as drone food.

Basically everyone could live with a middle class 1970s American lifestyle if human flourishing was the goal.

That’s it? Russia is probably making several $ Billion per day with Trump’s suspension of sanctions on selling oil to keep prices down.

And Trump works hard to counter that.
