Ukrainian-origin companies built drone factories in the UK, and now the UK government is funding production in those factories. Win-win.

BorisJohnsonsBarber Apr 15, 2026 +40
Win-win is exactly right. Ukraine gets drones that are actually useful, and doesn't get gouged by the massive corporations. The UK gets to create more skilled jobs, and gets access to unparalleled drone and drone countermeasure expertise.

Practical_Chemtrail Apr 15, 2026 +15
Low key this is the big win. Drones designed by Ukrainians who have a deep and hard won understanding of what capacities are required at effective price points. Throwing expensive untested or unwanted drones at the problem is not going to help.

BorisJohnsonsBarber Apr 15, 2026 +6
"Hard-won" is an understatement, but you're entirely right. Europe can learn these lessons from a friend now, or learn them from an enemy later.

They say Britain doesnt have an army.. who needs an army when you've got good drones i guess

008Zulu Apr 15, 2026 +184
I would like to imagine that UK's drone obliterate their targets with their nation's famed dry wit.

Tinuva450 Apr 15, 2026 +92
We are the drones that say “Ni”

008Zulu Apr 15, 2026 +28
Those who hear them seldom live to tell the tale!
28
LesserShambler Apr 15, 2026 +49
No, it just hovers near the target and passive aggressively makes tutting noises under it’s robot breath
49
wrincewind Apr 15, 2026 +8
Much like the legendary katana, a well-pitched "honestly..." or "well, really!" can cut a tank clean in half.

Floccus Apr 15, 2026 +2
The newer models can tactically deploy a newspaper to rustle aggressively.

The audioclip where they sing  “Always look at the bright side of death. *whistle* Just before you draw your terminal breath” should play whenever these drones are approaching the target. Imagine the look on Ivan’s face, right before it gets blown off.

Their payload is just snippets of Stephen fry monologues. The Russians laugh themselves to death

Love it... or David Mitchell ranting about some inane social faux pas.

Don't forget that we've weaponised the funniest joke ever discovered. And now, Drones with speakers can hover over the lines *У моей собаки нет носа....*

I think that violates the Geneva convention on joke warfare

This drone is no mooooore! It has ceased to beeeee.
2
McHoff Apr 16, 2026 +2
Early on in the war there was a video of a Ukrainian soldier firing a UK anti tank missile while shouting "God save the queen!"
2
ImaginationToForm2 Apr 15, 2026 +2
The drone will play Mr Bean or Benny Hill to distract the bad guys.
2
008Zulu Apr 15, 2026 +1
It plays Benny Hill as it chases them.

Not in terms of financial help. Germany is leading (including weapon delivery)

As a brit I am really proud of this and happy to see major support for ukraine from both sides of the political aisle here, unlike certain other nations.
1
clamorous_owle Apr 15, 2026 +83
Cheers to Britain! 🇬🇧 Helping Ukraine defend itself is not a one way street. Ukraine has developed a tremendous amount of expertise combating drones. Ukraine is advising countries in the Persian Gulf how to protect themselves from Iranian drones.

Are Iran the bad guys? I know America are the bad guys and they've single handedly caused the global fuel crisis. Is Iran a piece of shit to a lot of middle eastern countries? I thought that title went to Israel and I'm unaware of Iran's actions prior to the US Iran war
-39
Sweaty-Adeptness1541 Apr 15, 2026 +52
Both sides can be the bad guys in a conflict, there is no need for back and white thinking.
52
glmory Apr 15, 2026 +22
One of the things that is so different about Ukraine is that it is one of the few wars where there is a black and white good and bad. It drives a lot of the importance of the war. Ukraine losing could return the world to the sort of colonization that mostly went away in the post World War Two period.
22
Single_Classroom_448 Apr 15, 2026 +29
Iran sponsor terrorist groups around the middle east and beyond, help russia produce shahed drones they're using against ukraine, and have murdered a lot of their own public It's a situation where the USA, Israel, and Iran are all bad people really

TheRebuild28 Apr 15, 2026 +1
Evil is Evil. Lesser, greater, middling… Makes no difference. The degree is arbitary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one evil and another… I’d rather not choose at all.

lawrenceM96 Apr 15, 2026 +8
The IRGC ruling over Iran is one of the most destabilising nations in the world and are an abhorrent dictatorship that brutalise and oppress their own people. They fund and control numerous terror groups across the world, assist Russia with their military hardware and supply fuel and other critical support to Myanmar's Junta. A world without the IRGC is good for Iran and good for global stability and peace.

Aether_Breeze Apr 15, 2026 +4
It is never a bad thing to admit you don't know something and to ask a question. The only bad thing is to be ignorant and to revel in it. Everyone should be willing to ask when they don't know something and that will make the world a better place. All this is to say, ignore the downvotes, good on you for asking when you didn't know, and yes, Iran are 100% the bad guys. This war is an 'everyone sucks here' situation.

TheCouncilOfElrond Apr 16, 2026 +1
These comments although aggressive I really wanted to know and appreciate it
1
Sad_Sultana Apr 16, 2026 +1
Yeah Iran are the f****** bad guys, obviously, but so are Israel and America. Conflicts aren't one sided, but sometimes they heavily favour kne side over the other (see ww2 or the ukraine war)

140,000 is great. I had no idea we were producing drones in serious volumes. 140k will likely last Ukraine approx 4-8 weeks, depending upon the type of drones being provided.

So is this why trump is so angry at the uk . What will trumps friend Putin say about this ?

Yeh tbf I can't stand the man and I think the damage he's done to this country through his lies leading up to Brexit is unforgivable, but this is something he does deserve credit for. I was proud as an Englishman to see his response to this conflict at the time.

shion980 Apr 15, 2026 +6
So basically, the UK is helping Ukraine with supply packages, the US is helping Russia by making their oil more expensive and China is arming Iran with anti-air weapons.... All while the rest of the world suffers from the war. I f****** hate our timeline.
6
WhereTheSpiesAt Apr 15, 2026 +26
Pretty much the entirety of Europe as well as most Western aligned countries are providing supply packages to Ukraine, seems odd to miss that out.
26
shion980 Apr 15, 2026 +2
Mb. I forgot about the rest of Europe. I just read off the title while typing that.

Drone waits behind target, then another drone appears and waits behind the first drone, until there's a queue waiting to blow the target up.
2
Sad_Sultana Apr 16, 2026 +2
And from head on it looks like just one drone, genius really.
2
Comfortable_Shame778 Apr 15, 2026 +2
In that shipment, can’t we sneak in a few Trident II missiles. And before anyone says anything, I am fully aware these are launched from submarines. It was just a joke.
