I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump invests US tax dollars into this steel supplier and claim it isn’t to help Russia

I’m surprised it took Ukraine so long to start doing this. They could easily cripple Russian steel production in Lipetsk and Toula. I don’t know what ranges they’re capable of reaching but blowing holes in the blast furnaces of Nizhni Tagil, Tcheliabinsk and Magnitogorsk might also be on the table.

They have been.
February '24:
>
The attack caused a fire at the Lipetsk plant, located about 400 km north of the Ukrainian border and responsible for about 18% of Russia's steel production

April '24:
(I think this may be a different place than above, but I'm not sure.)
>Ukrainian drones struck and damaged a major Russian steel factory in the Lipetsk region during an overnight attack on Wednesday, a Kyiv intelligence source told Reuters.

February '25:
Lipetsk plant hit in '24 would be hit again.
>Russia's Lipetsk Oblast came under a "massive raid" by drones on the night of Feb. 13, regional governor Igor Artamonov said.

>Massive fire reported at Russian metallurgy plant in Tula Oblast. The cause of the fire has not been officially disclosed. Earlier in the evening, an aerial alert sounded over Tula due to the threat of Ukrainian drones.

And of course then there's today's attack as well.

Guys, you seriously should ease on copium.
It's Alchevsk, just a miles from the front line. How this plant can be "strategic" for Russian tank production, if obviously tanks been built without it for decades?

It's strategic because Ukraine has repeatedly hit the other steel production sites within Russia, which puts even more importance on steel production in the occupied territories. The Lipetsk plant within Russia, responsible for 20% of Russian steel production, has been hit multiple times over the years.
