Trump should take notes on how to make an actual good deal. From a guy not wearing a suit.

But does he even?

-Ny- Mar 29, 2026 +8
Or should he? Honestly, I feel like the rest of the west are who should be saying thank you to Ukraine.

Maybe putting a business who had a history of making bad deals and of him making his businesses go bust was a bad idea...
26
Homo_Sapien30 Mar 29, 2026 +2
But but did he thank them after making the deal?

Gulf countries signaling to trump they're getting impatient, making deals with someone who despise trump and vice versa

EenGeheimAccount Mar 28, 2026 +55
And just protecting their oil-infrastucture and desalination plants. I think that is actually more important to these countries than pissing off Trump.

illinformed-will Mar 28, 2026 +2
Let's be real : it's mostly political. Iran has way more Shaheds than what they sold to Russia, yet Russia overwhelmed ukraine anti drone system numerous times. Plus they manufacture them, they should have pretty good operators.
2
EenGeheimAccount Mar 28, 2026 +31
Russia has long taken over and improved upon Shahed production (and is selling/giving the improved versions now back to Iran), and Ukraine has *greatly* increased and improved its own drone production, including c**** drones made specifically to down Shaheds, which Ukraine now handles *far* better than the Gulf countries have in these past few weeks. Russia has been a full-scale war economy for years now, and both Russia and Ukraine have been constantly improving on drone and anti-drone systems during this war while the rest of the world has not. These are the two best countries at drones now, which is why the Gulf countries are now buying Ukraine's help. EDIT: Good news source on Ukraine war: [https://kyivindependent.com/](https://kyivindependent.com/)

Who would have thought a war would be turned into a commercial enterprise to a country being invaded? Well done Ukraine

Some might say well drone Ukaine.

fightmaxmaster Mar 28, 2026 +55
What's bizarre to me is just how behind the curve so many countries seem to be. We've all been watching the Ukraine war, seeing how effective drones are for both offense and defence. Only **now** are countries suddenly saying "maybe we should buy some"? Baffling. Even without the Iran war, spending a fraction of your budget on some interceptor drones seems like a no brainer.

Many of these nations were using the US for arms deals.
23
brnccnt7 Mar 28, 2026 +14
Complacency that they won't ever have to be involved in a conflict. Mainly because they either didn't expect the US & Israel to start a major war with Iran that would pull them in. Also because they thought the US would protect them more. Similarly how the Russians miscalculated during their initial invasion of Ukraine and underestimated them, and overestimated their own capabilities.
14
VioletGardens-left Mar 28, 2026 +10
And also shows how absurdly overpriced every single military equipment made by the US and it's private defense contractors are

This is quite common with countries. Seeing something problematic, and saying "nah, don't care"

He is in no way "competent". If you follow Ukraine, you know they have a consistent corruption problem where he fires senior people in government and replaced them with his loyalists. Zelensky supported the genocide in Gaza, he's got zero moral standards.

Not sure what to make of that to be honest. Obviously Ukraine needs more friends and money but these aren't great allies. I'm surprised too that these guys are sort of openly declaring against Russia.

Infinite-Two7690 Mar 28, 2026 +80
Ukraine is in the position where you wouldn't turn away any support. The middle east states are incredibly worried about more of their refineries being hit and more importantly their water desalination plants. If those go up some of their cities will be uninhabitable within s week. I imagine they're freaking out relying on Trump and Netanyahu's administrations not to escalate this further. They would probably pay almost anything for drone interception training and technology. I hope Ukraine does amazingly well out of this.

Aazadan Mar 28, 2026 +5
The other thing is, the better these nations can protect their infrastructure, the more likely remaining weapons are thrown as the US and Israel instead as the softest targets.
5
Sobeman Mar 28, 2026 +29
I mean what can they do? The US is actively supporting the country invading them and the rest of the EU is trickling in support but mostly just making grandiose speeches about united EU and shit.
29
progrethth Mar 28, 2026 +12
The EU is hardly trickling in support. The EU should of course send more but but to call it a trickle is an insult and simply not true.
12
Filias9 Mar 29, 2026 +3
It's very disproportional. Main supporters are now Nordic countries. Others sends something, others nothing.

I’m from the UAE, and our foreign policy has always been single-mindedly oriented against Iranian influence. since losing the Gulf would collapse the economy in the long-term. It’s why we intervened against the Houthis and normalized ties with Israel. Ukrainian drones are vital to this strategy and there’s little consequence to it. Russia is only a secondary member in OPEC, and the recent influx of Russian draft-dodgers haven’t exactly endeared themselves to us…
22
MohJeex Mar 29, 2026 +1
And the Houthis has beaten UAE's ass (and the Saudi's for that matter). You think you stand a chance against Iran? Your country normalized relations with the devil unfortunately.

Why do you assume that these wouldn't be good allies? They are allied with the US...is that why?
2
theuncleiroh Mar 29, 2026 +3
Mostly because they have slaves and such, but your view on that might vary

OKWINEFAN Mar 28, 2026 +1
Ukraine will teach and arm them with drone technology,UAE & Qatar give them much needed cash. Make it happen please.

Qatar is not to be trusted imho

MbynX Mar 28, 2026 +3
Israel and the USA are? Turn off bot
3
theuncleiroh Mar 29, 2026 +2
Gonna take a brave position here: I don't think israel, UAE, Qatar, OR America is a good ally. I'll go even further and say I don't particularly trust anyone who is going out of their way to ally with those nations
2
progrethth Mar 28, 2026 +2
None of these three countries is to be trusted but a good deal is a good deal so I support Zelensky making it.
2
Infinite-Two7690 Mar 28, 2026 +4
Yes but when they are pay for things and you're at war you kind of take all the money you can get. I'm sure Ukraine will make sure they get what they want out of this, otherwise they just don't help Qatar with drone interception.

Zelensky is a beggar. He has no moral standards. He fully supported the genocide in Gaza and then talks about world peacea and Russia bad, Ukraine good. His biggest problem is he has no air defense after the Israel-Iran war. He should be focusing more on his country then running around the world begging for money.
