Not sure it will play out in the way they hope
"Oh it's named after me? So it's mine then! I can do what I want with it! Here you go, Russia!"

If you want it named after him "Dumbass" sounds more appropriate.

pretty clever. They're playing the donny manipulation tactics. Pleasing his ego to get him on their side

Clever i guess but...the fact that they feel its remotely needed is disturbing as all hell.
These are the lives of our fellow humans, who were attacked without provocation. It should be a given they are assisted no matter what.
I cant even understand how anyone respects this administration.

They don't even have to go through with it. Just send him an AI generated image that looks vagely like Ukraine, but with golden commie blocks, bald eagles and a giant Donnieland sign.

Yep , pandering to a know traitor and unreliable partner is never a good option or optic.
It's like the Stockholm syndrome. Bad move imo

Unlike Trump Stockholm syndrome isn't real.

What do you mean its not real ? Its a real medical term used in psychology.
1
Mormacil10 hr ago
+2
It has never been an officially recognized diagnoses. It has never been added to the DSM, it's purely a pop psychology term, not a real psychology term.

I can't remember exactly but isn't their some grim underpinnings to its origin too?
2
Mormacil9 hr ago
+3
It was coined by a hostage negotiator with a psychology degree to explain why the (female) hostages weren't properly grateful after the police in Stockholm violently ended a hostage situation.
The hostages broadly bonded with their captor and felt the police had needlessly escalated the situation under the directions of the negotiator. So he coined this syndrome to explain it away instead of taking responsibility.

Thanks, id heard the story before, can't look it up right now, but figured you'd have the details.

The general dynamic of "pandering to an unreliable partner" does exist, however - appeasement or fawn responses are recognized psychological behaviors connected to abusive relationships.
And I think that is meant here: Ingratiating/Submissive behavior towards an abusive entity, rather than genuine positive feelings towards it.

If it works, more power to them. The man is a disaster in every regard and if they can manipulate him into helping in the fight against Russia, all the better.
