My hope here is that since she hates serial killers and Dexter kills them, she may help him find more like she did for Prater.

There was some speculation at the time that Prater was going to become an ally and serve that purpose for Dexter. That would have been cool.

All of the serial killers on Prater’s guest list would have known about Charlie too, so one could easily justify Charlie helping Dexter take out everyone on that list.

Would just be Rapunzel at this point, right?
1
RealJohnGillmanApr 8, 2026

It would not be, no. It was said over the season that the killers present were but a small number out of all of the serial killers Prater had on his list: those were just those most-willing to regularly gather. That was why Dexter had himself a list of many more than just Rapunzel at the end of the season.

Honest question.
I'm not up to date.
Hated the end of Dexter. His sister only tried to f*** him because the actor was divorced from the actress who plays his sister? Because the books did not mention that part.
Watched a couple episodes of the spinoff with his son?
If this is how I feel? What is new? Avoid? Worth it?
Cuz up until the trinity killer, best show.

I disagree with the other guy. New Blood is required to know the new relationship between Dexter and Harrison. It's not *terrible* aside from the ending, and the ending isn't a big deal now.

I think it's just that she is a big name actor that was in a smaller role. If the role was played by anyone else people wouldn't care, they just expected more because it's Uma Thurman. The reality is that she must have just really wanted to be part of the Dexter universe, even in a smaller role. Hopefully in S2 they give her more to do.
12
BalonSwann07Apr 8, 2026
+10
She's in every episode and is a major focus lmao. Like it's not a small role. It's like the fourth most important character in the season.

> even if her character in Season 1 felt a little bit boring.
I was like 99% convinced her mother was the New York Ripper and that's why she was so disgusted by killers. Couldn't bring herself to abandon her sick mother despite her being a killer so she took out her frustrations on killing Prater's fuckups.
3
m_PonyApr 9, 2026

I think she's pretty great in the role, holds back just enough to make you want more. They didn't do quite enough with her role, tbh. Character's got untapped complexity. Could be even better next season.

While I'm a fan of Uma Thurman, the character was dull and her story felt closed by the end of the season. The scenes with her mother were some of the more boring aspects of Resurrection. They wouldn't be bringing this character back if she was played by a lesser known actor.

The character was created for someone else but when they actually got Uma they added new stuff for her to do but they couldnt change the entire character bc it would mess with the story. Maybe they can fully realize her here.
13
Lil_McgeeApr 8, 2026
+5
I think "just a henchwoman" undersells it a bit. She's definitely a layered character and, while it's not the showiest role, it required a quiet sort of intensity that I don't know if a lesser actor could have pulled off.
I'm glad she's coming back and agree with the hope that she gets to be a more proactive player in the story but I definitely didn't feel like she was wasted.
5
Demerzel69Apr 8, 2026

She's Uma f****** Thurman. She was incredibly wasted talent on that season.
2
Lil_McgeeApr 8, 2026
+3
Like I say, I think the role required a lot more talent than most of these comments are giving it credit for. I found both the character and performance to be very memorable and worthy of her, it was just understated.
Her physicality was excellent, she's constantly conveying a great mix of professionalism, menace, and disgust. She was a perfect foil for Leon.
3
ohthanqkevinApr 8, 2026

I honestly had to think for a few moments who she was in the show. Weird they for Uma for such a small role but bringing her back probably means they have more for her to do

swanny246Apr 8, 2026

I think much like Sarah Michelle Gellar in Original Sin, they had longer term plans for the character, assuming the actor was able to stick around.

2
swanny246Apr 8, 2026

Yeah I reckon so! The cast was great in the end, they pulled off some amazing younger versions of the OG cast (exception probably being Christian Slater who was... a choice).
It's all mostly a self contained story in typical Dexter fashion, couple of seed plants for what could have been a season 2 but not a huge deal in the long run.
2
m_PonyApr 9, 2026

I kinda liked how Resurrection some what wrapped up things and had him appearing to move on. Now he has files on other serial killers he could go hunt and give us almost self contained seasons in a way to keep giving us the Dexter we want to see. I don’t need a Dexter universe again with multiple recurring characters , I just want to see him stalk, hunt and kill. Thanks

JamStan1978Apr 8, 2026

Resurrection worked well enough to be an ending if it wasnt renewed but left many things open for when it got renewed. Charley was an intentional loose end so she could come back in an organic way.

Bear16Apr 8, 2026

Oh I agree but just didn’t find her compelling enough to want more of her. He kinda found her weak spot, set things straight and now can go to the next weirdo IMO.

RealJohnGillmanApr 8, 2026

I suppose that makes sense: since Dexter killed Prater, it would mean Charlie’s mother wouldn’t be receiving her medical treatment payments anymore and would likely die, for which Charlie would blame Dexter.
That or the two end up connecting, since Charlie would have also hated serial killers and killed many on Prater’s orders (though for very different reasons).
7

I feel like she would be more realistic about it. You can't expect a victory when you make a deal with the devil.

I am curious as to whether they may have the ultimate end of Dexter’s story parallel that of the ‘real-life Dexter’ [Pedro Rodrigues Filho](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Rodrigues_Filho) now that the real fellow is dead: where he ended up embraced by a good portion of the public, and avoided lifetime imprisonment due to a technicality.
A good example of ‘truth is stranger than fiction’.
