Understanding heart rate variability and why it matters

HRV is the variation in time between heartbeats and is a proxy for nervous system recovery. High HRV generally indicates readiness. Low HRV indicates stress or under recovery. I track it with my watch and use it to decide whether to push training or back off. The data is surprisingly actionable.
