Treat drone operators near airports the same way you treat the laser pointer idiots.

Made me think of the dude in LA who dinged a Canadian fire fighting plane during the LA wildfires, taking it out of commission. [Follow up story on that](https://www.courthousenews.com/la-county-man-gets-two-weeks-over-drone-crash-into-palisades-firefighting-plane/) > A Los Angeles County man was sentenced to two weeks in prison on Monday after flying a drone over the raging wildfire in the Pacific Palisades in January that collided with a Canadian Super Scooper firefighting airplane. > Peter Akemann, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of unsafe operation of an unmanned aircraft, a misdemeanor offense that carries a sentence of up to one year in jail. U.S. District Judge Michael Fitzgerald also ordered him to pay a $9,500 fine and $147,000 in restitution to cover the repairs of the Quebec Air Service airplane and the rent LA County paid Quebec for it while the plane was grounded for four days.

Ukraine, Iran, and Russia are war zones. I don’t think we should be bombing the homes of civilian drone operators.

~~Aren’t the majority of these geo-fenced natively? (They don’t even allow you to fly in restricted airspace (so not even by airports))~~ If this turns out accurate, person is going to have to explain something’s. edit: lol apparently dji ended geo-fencing

I hope they catch whoever was flying that drone and make a strong example out of them, and do it loudly and publicly. We cant have this kind of shit end with hundreds of dead people.

extremists are going to see this and see an easy avenue for a massive attack it will be just the beginning of drone-based terrorism

From the article "The incident involved a Boeing 737 **jumbo** jet operated by United Airlines, officials said." No wonder it didn't do any damage...how could you inflict anything on a 737 JUMBO

Despite being pretty massive, jets are made of light materials so they can fly. If the drone struck an engine, that could cause serious problems. Jets have gone down from striking birds.

They’re making a joke about calling a 737 a jumbo jet. It’s one of the smallest passenger jets that isn’t a regional

Thanks, didn’t catch that.
