That’s literally what we are going to end up with. Probably with some mild concession from both parties so their leadership can flaunt it to their populace.
It’s the Trump playbook at this point. Cause a
commotion, taco, get the same or slightly worse version of whatever the status quo was before the commotion.

And so happy Christmas (war is over)

For yellow and red ones (war is over)
Let's stop all the fight (now)

TheLost_ChefMay 6, 2026
+25
It's a collective thing. Traders are essentially looking at each other across the digital table and seeing how others are going to react when news comes out, then they all take the same action at the same time. A lot of that is driven by algorithms too.
So when Trump comes out and says "war's over!" they briefly glance around and go, "so this is good, right?" And everyone kinda shrugs and nods. That's all they really need to say that today is a good trading day, and once that ball gets rolling everyone wants to chase it.
25
stew1922May 6, 2026
+185
It’s not people. It’s bots doing the news ingestion and trading. At least that’s my theory and the only thing that makes sense to me.
185
Catch_022May 6, 2026
+40
That is actually a pretty good theory, but I'm not sure that you would trust millions of dollars on an automatic system like that.
40
DirectionMurky5526May 6, 2026
+48
You trust it if everyone else is doing it and you know that everyone is pumping more of their savings and investments into the stock market than ever before. Especially if you know the government will bail you out if the market ever crashes.
Odds are the economy will crash before the stock market does. The only thing that would stop the money pump going in is if people and companies need to start liquidating their assets to cover rising costs or because they're laid off.
48
WillDigForFoodMay 6, 2026
+21
Eh.
The bottom 90% of US income owners only own around 7% of the US stock market. The market will be insulated from the effects of the economy for a minute - it'll still feel people not spending money willy-nilly, but the top 10% of income owners can keep that shell game going for a hot minute with 93% control over the market.
The ultrawealthy continued to buy high-end luxury items and to hold outrageously extravagant parties even during the Great Depression, and many took it as an opportunity to buy up vast swathes of the market as the economy collapsed.
The market can remain irrational far longer than any individual can remain solvent.
21
JAT_Cbus1080May 6, 2026
+7
And the top 1% own more than half of all stocks. It's an incredibly top heavy market.

Knight Capital [lost $400 million in 45 minutes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_Capital_Group#2012_stock_trading_disruption) but, after a bunch of mergers, still does automated trading.
3
Lunar_BriseSoleilMay 6, 2026
+5
The majority of major brokerages run their trades through bots. It is programmed by humans but the machine can trade much faster.
5
FrismFrasmMay 6, 2026
+3
If bots were trading illogically en masse, and human actors were aware it was happening; they would position themselves to profit off of the bots' dumb moves, and the prices would sort themselves out.
The market makes zero sense to me right now don't get me wrong...but it can't be as simple as automated trading that ignores reality. *Human* *trading* that ignores reality though (or human trading by those who know something I don't) is much more realistic IMO.

Hey guys, Tuna here. I’m running in 2028.
This comment is correct.
It’s bots and algorithms, just check out how much they spend on co-location and low-latency connectivity.
Why?
First in, first out. Maximum extraction.
For what though? They aren’t building housing, they aren’t building hospitals, they aren’t producing anything of value.
It’s extraction for the dragons. Purely hoards for the few while the whole suffers for it.
We can fix this though, I just need a little help from my friends!

Any-Interaction6066May 6, 2026

It seems it's always Barak from Axios too. Which tells me no other publication will print what the White House wants without a lot of verification, so they are probably paying this guy to do it for them, and it is immediately picked up by the algos. Market manipulation to the max.

End of the day, outside earnings the market only needs plausible signals to coordinate moves, they don't need to be attached to reality. It's like a stochastic cartel.

Yap ..
A senior Iranian MP directly calls the Axios report on the US-Iran agreement "more an American wish list than reality," with Iran rejecting several clauses of the US peace memorandum as "unacceptable."
Iran says the Axios report is speculation and that Axios serves as a tool for White House market manipulation, that Iran has heavily rejected such proposals in recent days, and that current discussions are about ending the war, not the nuclear issue, which will make any deal impossible as long as the US demands to discuss nuclear.
Trump also told the NY Post it is "too soon" to prepare for an Iran peace signing, with Israel being not even aware of the proposal and is ready to resume fighting.

Pump prices will take much longer as the oil purchased for fuel will have been at a higher cost.
If it is optimistic and it does end supply lines need to recover which could take months/years due to transport times, refinery recovery etc.
The impact of whats happened / happening is not short term even if war ends
2
wbruce098May 6, 2026

Unfortunately, yes. It will take a year at least just to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure that Iran bombed, and then another couple months at least after shipments begin regularly leaving the strait for supply to return to pre-war levels. The pedo really messed up with this one — again.

This idiotic outrage is not newsworthy anymore. Americans elected this guy twice, this is how they think the world should work and that won’t change unless they are no longer a super power.
There have never been nor will there ever be any consequences to US politicians let alone US Republicans. This party has become a talking mouth piece for their ‘machine gun Jesus’ and billionaire media mogul class. It’s only a matter of time before another ‘Trumpesque’ comic-book villain is elected again. Memo will be an AI generated image of the Iran leader and thousands of iranians in line bowing to DJT with gifts of cash, gold and oil barrels.

Yeah.. if I was Iran I would just demand a completely unredacted copy of the Epstein files. Simply stating they were attacked and that’s what they want as compensation.

Oh Axios’ Trump shill does it again. Can’t be confirmed by anyone else and the other news services will repeat this headline all morning to pump the markets. Like clockwork bro.

It’s an Axios article. They’ve lost all credibility…they just help pump the market. I won’t read any of their lies anymore.

The last time they were supposedly close, Trump decided to brag on social media and torpedoed the thing.
My guess is he'll do the same again.

This is the 27th Axios article about an impending deal released in the past few weeks. Surely this one is it and isn't garbage being used to pump the market during the week!

NEVER DOUBT THE POWER OF THE ONE PAGE MEMO
FR if you work somewhere where you have to do meetings… that one page memo is your gold ticket to turn a 45 minute snooze fest into a ten minute “get the useful stuff out, then get out”
What were we talking about?
