A one page memo to end a war... OMG...

_aviemore_ May 6, 2026 +596
[OFFICIAL] WAR HAS BEEN CANCELLED ... ... TL;DR: War's over, nothing to see here.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. President Don-old J Blumpf

swizzcheez May 6, 2026 +59
Truly the Frank Drebbin of presidents but with much less likeability, wisdom, and intelligence.
59
foghillgal May 6, 2026 +16
Drebbin is actually crazily efficient, through some kind of chaos magic, at his job which is not the case of Trumpo.
16
No-Brain9413 May 6, 2026 +14
There was a huge explosion in a Chinese fireworks warehouse yesterday and the Frank Drebbin memes were making the rounds!

I. DECLARE. ARMISTICE!!
7
Dhiox May 6, 2026 +6
He really thinks if he just turns the war on and off again every 60 days he doesn't need congressional approval. Worst part is I wouldn't be shocked if he actually gets that to work.
6
Domino80 May 6, 2026 +3
That TL;DR is too long for Hegseth to read. TL; DR TL; DR: ~~war~~

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
4
Nwah2112 May 6, 2026 +3
That’s literally what we are going to end up with. Probably with some mild concession from both parties so their leadership can flaunt it to their populace. It’s the Trump playbook at this point. Cause a commotion, taco, get the same or slightly worse version of whatever the status quo was before the commotion.

mrpeabodyscoaltrain May 6, 2026 +2
And so this is Christmas (war is over) For weak and for strong (if you want it) For rich and the poor ones (war is over) The road is so long (now) And so happy Christmas (war is over) For black and for white (if you want it) For yellow and red ones (war is over) Let's stop all the fight (now)

5

To be fair, you could probably fit everything about which Iran and the US currently agree on the back of a postage stamp.
23
LazerWolfe53 May 6, 2026 +14
I'm sure that's going to be Wayyy better than the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action that Obama negotiated without a war. /s
14
FeeHot5876 May 6, 2026 +12
To be fair considering the war was over nothing simply saying “we’re done, back to normal” is all that’s neeeded

nah,friday after market close.
22
Available_Finger_513 May 6, 2026 +23
It's also axios reporting the same shit over and over each week.
23
Electrifying2017 May 6, 2026 +7
And reported by Axios.
7
ILoveAnt May 6, 2026 +16
By Barak Ravid who predicted seven of the last zero peace deals with Iran.
16
Calculonx May 6, 2026 +1
I would bet good money that Iran has not heard of this agreement
1
TheBalzy May 6, 2026 +977
>The White House believes ... according to two U.S. officials and two other sources briefed on the issue. So just another pump-and-dump scheme. Got it.
977
Azhz96 May 6, 2026 +197
Why is it still working tho? Are people actually that stupid to believe what they say or what? I know people can be straight up brain dead (like Trump supporters), but come on…
197
TheLost_Chef May 6, 2026 +25
It's a collective thing. Traders are essentially looking at each other across the digital table and seeing how others are going to react when news comes out, then they all take the same action at the same time. A lot of that is driven by algorithms too. So when Trump comes out and says "war's over!" they briefly glance around and go, "so this is good, right?" And everyone kinda shrugs and nods. That's all they really need to say that today is a good trading day, and once that ball gets rolling everyone wants to chase it.
25
stew1922 May 6, 2026 +185
It’s not people. It’s bots doing the news ingestion and trading. At least that’s my theory and the only thing that makes sense to me.
185
Catch_022 May 6, 2026 +40
That is actually a pretty good theory, but I'm not sure that you would trust millions of dollars on an automatic system like that.
40
DirectionMurky5526 May 6, 2026 +48
You trust it if everyone else is doing it and you know that everyone is pumping more of their savings and investments into the stock market than ever before. Especially if you know the government will bail you out if the market ever crashes.  Odds are the economy will crash before the stock market does. The only thing that would stop the money pump going in is if people and companies need to start liquidating their assets to cover rising costs or because they're laid off.
48
WillDigForFood May 6, 2026 +21
Eh. The bottom 90% of US income owners only own around 7% of the US stock market. The market will be insulated from the effects of the economy for a minute - it'll still feel people not spending money willy-nilly, but the top 10% of income owners can keep that shell game going for a hot minute with 93% control over the market. The ultrawealthy continued to buy high-end luxury items and to hold outrageously extravagant parties even during the Great Depression, and many took it as an opportunity to buy up vast swathes of the market as the economy collapsed. The market can remain irrational far longer than any individual can remain solvent.
21
JAT_Cbus1080 May 6, 2026 +7
And the top 1% own more than half of all stocks. It's an incredibly top heavy market.
7
JWarder May 6, 2026 +3
Knight Capital [lost $400 million in 45 minutes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_Capital_Group#2012_stock_trading_disruption) but, after a bunch of mergers, still does automated trading.
3
Lunar_BriseSoleil May 6, 2026 +5
The majority of major brokerages run their trades through bots. It is programmed by humans but the machine can trade much faster.
5
FrismFrasm May 6, 2026 +3
If bots were trading illogically en masse, and human actors were aware it was happening; they would position themselves to profit off of the bots' dumb moves, and the prices would sort themselves out. The market makes zero sense to me right now don't get me wrong...but it can't be as simple as automated trading that ignores reality. *Human* *trading* that ignores reality though (or human trading by those who know something I don't) is much more realistic IMO.
3
tunamctuna May 6, 2026 +15
Hey guys, Tuna here. I’m running in 2028. This comment is correct. It’s bots and algorithms, just check out how much they spend on co-location and low-latency connectivity. Why? First in, first out. Maximum extraction. For what though? They aren’t building housing, they aren’t building hospitals, they aren’t producing anything of value. It’s extraction for the dragons. Purely hoards for the few while the whole suffers for it. We can fix this though, I just need a little help from my friends!
15
Any-Interaction6066 May 6, 2026 +7
It seems it's always Barak from Axios too. Which tells me no other publication will print what the White House wants without a lot of verification, so they are probably paying this guy to do it for them, and it is immediately picked up by the algos. Market manipulation to the max.
7
Earl-The-Badger May 6, 2026 +5
Do you have a link to your website where we can learn about your platform?
5
IamChantus May 6, 2026 +2
At a guess the platform of Big Tuna includes ruining the days of Buffalo and Broncos. Well, deeds and qualifications include that at least.
2
sloppybuttmustard May 6, 2026 +9
Because either they’re telling the truth and the war is ending (unlikely), or this is another instance of the US making shit up so they can back down. Either option is favorable to investors because they know Trump is a little b**** and won’t do anything.
9
TheVenetianMask May 6, 2026 +8
End of the day, outside earnings the market only needs plausible signals to coordinate moves, they don't need to be attached to reality. It's like a stochastic cartel. If it was 10 evil guys in a room deciding which side of the trades to fleece each day it'd be illegal, but alas, we live in the digital future now.
8
Puzzle-Necked May 6, 2026 +4
Because people know other people will fall for it and trade accordingly. Except now nobody believes it but people trade like they do exist. Also insider trading
4
Metrinome May 6, 2026 +3
It'll keep working as long as some people can keep profiting off of them.
3
Rare-Spell-1571 May 6, 2026 +2
In general the stock market forward looks. The stock market does not believe this war will significantly harm the revenue of the major businesses in a meaningful, long term manner.
2
owen__wilsons__nose May 6, 2026 +7
Yap .. A senior Iranian MP directly calls the Axios report on the US-Iran agreement "more an American wish list than reality," with Iran rejecting several clauses of the US peace memorandum as "unacceptable." Iran says the Axios report is speculation and that Axios serves as a tool for White House market manipulation, that Iran has heavily rejected such proposals in recent days, and that current discussions are about ending the war, not the nuclear issue, which will make any deal impossible as long as the US demands to discuss nuclear. Trump also told the NY Post it is "too soon" to prepare for an Iran peace signing, with Israel being not even aware of the proposal and is ready to resume fighting.
7
Prestigious_Load1699 May 6, 2026 +4
If I could buy oil futures on the c**** based off this alone, then I guess I would. That’s on the supplier. On a more stable level, I would be taking the long position. Nobody wants to be the loser on these trades, so it’s all a giant scramble. All I see is the price of oil going up, up, up.
4
Used-Advisor-3976 May 6, 2026 +2
Friday is approching so....
2
Gadshill May 6, 2026 +124
> The one-page, **14-point** memorandum of understanding (MOU) is being negotiated between Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and several Iranian officials, both directly and through mediators. Is this the same 14-point proposal that Iran sent over two days ago? Are they running the same story again with a new headline to get more clicks?
124
Heavy-Classic9184 May 6, 2026 +60
The same Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner who the Iranians said they would no longer deal with?
60
Gadshill May 6, 2026 +24
No. These are two other White House officials that coincidently have the same names.
24
Various_Match_187 May 6, 2026 +7
They had 60 days to end the war. Since they couldn't do it, they were replaced with two other officials that coincidently have the same names, and we believe that makes the deadline start over from zero.
7
Gadshill May 6, 2026 +4
So every time they put on new fake mustaches or take them off the 60 days resets.
4
OneTotal466 May 6, 2026 +4
Do these Iranian officials even have real influence in the country, no one seems to know who's actually running the show.
4
lou1uol May 6, 2026 +92
I am completely confident that these news only appear to reduce the oil prices.
92
TheGodPePe May 6, 2026 +34
And to manipulate Algos. It is time to either limit or ban Algo trading
34
AndrewMcIlroy May 6, 2026 +6
Yep and it works. Half of the trading done these days is just bots instant trading of news from certain media websites.
6
Available_Finger_513 May 6, 2026 +6
It's the same god damn source providing the same damn lies every week
6
Careless_Guitar_463 May 6, 2026 +2
It's always Barak Ravid via Axios. Axios is a corrupt state propaganda Trump vehicle.
2
Master-Leopard-7830 May 6, 2026 +32
'officials' being property developer Steve Witkoff and Jared Doucheshner.
32
Lord_Alamo May 6, 2026 +169
Oil price down ±3% within minutes, share prices tumble down. US traded "oil stocks" will tumble down at opening. Is this market manipulation - again? edit: Oil Price had already dropped 3% previous 24 hours (so 6%-ish total) and 10%-ish total last 48 hours... It seems that someone knew these "press releases" prior to them happening.
169
wbruce098 May 6, 2026 +58
But the price at the pump ain’t goin down. It’ll go back up once this blows over, in 24 more hours.
58
Sgt_Fry May 6, 2026 +2
Pump prices will take much longer as the oil purchased for fuel will have been at a higher cost. If it is optimistic and it does end supply lines need to recover which could take months/years due to transport times, refinery recovery etc. The impact of whats happened / happening is not short term even if war ends
2
wbruce098 May 6, 2026 +5
Unfortunately, yes. It will take a year at least just to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure that Iran bombed, and then another couple months at least after shipments begin regularly leaving the strait for supply to return to pre-war levels. The pedo really messed up with this one — again.
5
KTX77 May 6, 2026 +2
I saw an energy expert on TV a few days ago saying that due to the infrastructure damage, even if the war ended today, it will be a few years before we see gas below $3.00 a gallon in the U.S.

13
OakLegs May 6, 2026 +8
What's the issue with axios?
8
legbreaker May 6, 2026 +15
It’s the official propaganda arm of the CIA. But people should listen to it because it actually signals which direction the market will move that day.
15
FetusDrive 6 days ago +2
Hey following up on this; if it’s official can you post the official link ?
2
FetusDrive May 6, 2026 +4
If it’s official; why not post the link that confirms what you are saying. No one knows who you are.
4
Available_Finger_513 May 6, 2026 +7
They have been extremely unreliable in terms of the Iran war and have been and the forefront of the weekly market manipulation. It seems axios as a reliable source may have come to an end.
7
No-Faithlessness2879 May 6, 2026 +65
Am I the only one who sees an axios article and just ignores it because they’ve been all f****** over the place? Just don’t see them as a trusted source of info
65
94_stones May 6, 2026 +25
They haven’t been all over the place. They’ve been consistently *wrong* over and over again for like a month straight. At least when it comes to a peace deal.
25
Grow_away_420 May 6, 2026 +11
I'm sure they're accurately reporting what Kushner is telling them. The problem is he's a lying snake serving his own ends.
11
Aildari May 6, 2026 +4
You aren't alone. Trump calls one of their reporters and just tells him whatever and that gets printed verbatim without any fact checking at all.
4
Etherius May 6, 2026 +8
Is there anyone who IS reliable anymore? Everything from every country has been caught slinging slop numerous times lately
8
KoalaBoy May 6, 2026 +3
That's how I feel about the daily beast.
3
Lord_Alamo May 6, 2026 +6
What do you mean? 😃 Axios is based on the Ancient Greek: ἄξιος *ắxĭos*, meaning "worthy". edit: maybe i have to /s
6
Axiomxz May 6, 2026 +12
Algos into stop-losses. It's the biggest pump and dump market manipulation scheme in the history of wars. Welcome to Trump world. Thanks, U.S. of idiocracy.

12
Ixziga May 6, 2026 +11
They'll say Iran accepted it Friday before the markets close. Then Saturday Iran will say there was no such agreement ever.
11
After-Snow5874 May 6, 2026 +10
It’s always Axios.
10

And always Barak Ravid. That guy needs investigating.
2

It's getting closer to the end of the week. We know. Now keep an eye on Polymarket and see who places bets.
16
Sieve-Boy May 6, 2026 +7
So... does Iran know about this?
7
oldcreaker May 6, 2026 +6
It's like Trump initiated all this death and destruction just to raise the price of oil and make big oil big profits.  Even if this ends today, higher prices will be around for months. It's interesting how the supposed reason for starting this all this in the first place (preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon) has kind of fallen off the table.
6
WaveWest2009 May 6, 2026 +7
So one page memorandum: Iran=> u open, then I open. Trump==> no, u open+pass me the uranium first then I open.
7
9millibros May 6, 2026 +7
Doubtful...Axios has been carrying water for the White House during this whole thing.
7
HMTMKMKM95 May 6, 2026 +5
Headline should read: US (and maybe Isreal) TO CONCEDE DEFEAT IN WAR (again) WITH IRAN.
5
chaosxrules May 6, 2026 +5
In other news someone placed a prediction market bet for 750$M that there would be news about the war ending. Spoiler, the war isn't ending soon and some Republican with insider knowledge using it to enrich themselves.
5

4

Trump is a f****** moron. Before he started bombing the straight was open. Before his team of incompetent imbeciles tore up the nuclear agreement there was no evidence that Iran wasn't honoring it. They're wasting billions of dollars and driving the cost of gas up astronomically for absolutely nothing in return.
4
SearcherRC May 6, 2026 +3
Let me guess... 2 weeks from now?
3
meveleens May 6, 2026 +3
Why is this still a surprise? This idiotic outrage is not newsworthy anymore. Americans elected this guy twice, this is how they think the world should work and that won’t change unless they are no longer a super power. There have never been nor will there ever be any consequences to US politicians let alone US Republicans. This party has become a talking mouth piece for their ‘machine gun Jesus’ and billionaire media mogul class. It’s only a matter of time before another ‘Trumpesque’ comic-book villain is elected again. The rest of the world needs to suck it up for at least 3 years and work to making sure that in future w/e America does is minimized to just themselves.
3
Heisenberg991 May 6, 2026 +3
A one page memo written in crayon for Trump to understand with big pictures of missiles and drones.
3
ZaphodG May 6, 2026 +3
Why would Iran do that? The midterms are in 6 months. They hold all the cards and are certainly aware of the political landscape in the US. The correct play is to hold on for another 2 1/2 years and deal with the next US government.
3
ThE_LAN_B4_TimE May 6, 2026 +3
So a French vessel was just attacked with some wounded in the Strait and they are claiming its going to end now? Get the f*** outttaaa hereeeee. You can guarantee Irsn will deny this, claim victory, threaten more, and Trump will have a meltdown threatening to end them. I need to see if poly market bets on all of this. Unbelievable how predictable it all is.

3
OldKermudgeon May 6, 2026 +3
US or Iranian official(s)? (checks article) OK, US officials. I'll wait for the Iranian officials to make a statement, otherwise it's just smoke and mirrors. (also, a little late for TACO Tuesday, or polymarket, or whatever the grift-du-jour is, isn't it?)
3
in_da_tr33z May 6, 2026 +3
Literally just more market manipulation horse shit from Axios
3
Any-Interaction6066 May 6, 2026 +3
Same a****** who keeps publishing these articles for Axios, who's been wrong every time. Oil getting to high? White House : Barak we need a story for the algos that are trading so that it brings the price down! Barak: Make sure the money is in the account in 5 minutes, and I got you fam! Market algos react to the only published article stating a blatant lie. Rinse, repeat. Not fishy in the slightest...

ComprehensiveKiwi489 May 6, 2026 +2
My guess is that there's nothing about limiting ballistic missiles, drones or regional proxies, so they probably see it as a win that they get to keep those things, plus the billions in unfrozen assets and lifted sanctions. Could also mean that China (who recently had a meeting yesterday with Iranian officials) pressured them to end it.

"America gets nothing but the right to declare he was the w***** is reserved for DONALD JOHN TRUMP, ETERNAL GOD KING!"

WankAaron69 May 6, 2026 +2
Oh Axios’ Trump shill does it again. Can’t be confirmed by anyone else and the other news services will repeat this headline all morning to pump the markets. Like clockwork bro.
2
Extension-Truth-3905 May 6, 2026 +2

2
redyellowblue5031 May 6, 2026 +2
Oh you mean end the war that never began, but that we totally won, and also stopped right before the deadline of getting congress approval? Got it.
2
Leftoverofferings May 6, 2026 +2
It’s an Axios article. They’ve lost all credibility…they just help pump the market. I won’t read any of their lies anymore.
2
SaveTheAles May 6, 2026 +2
Is it written in sharpie?
2
CompetitiveFennel681 May 6, 2026 +2
Please tell me it's poorly written in crayon...
2
Sandrock27 May 6, 2026 +2
The last time they were supposedly close, Trump decided to brag on social media and torpedoed the thing. My guess is he'll do the same again.

Let me guess: it’ll be signed late on Friday and be broken by early Sunday?
2
Exxtender May 6, 2026 +2
I thought it wasn't a "war" but just a "(special) military operation" or "excursion". I'm confused.
2
DahliaSkarigal May 6, 2026 +2
So it **is** a war
2
throoawoot May 6, 2026 +2
"Officials say"... look at actual article... Trump Administration says. Ok, they're full of shit and just manipulating oil markets to personally make millions off of this chaos. F*** these clowns.
2
Bananasinpajaamas May 6, 2026 +2
This was such a colossal waste of time, money, and human life.
2
VexedCanadian84 May 6, 2026 +2
because Trump can't read / pay attention to anything longer
2
rockycore May 6, 2026 +2
Taco and market manipulation.
2
kmoffat May 6, 2026 +2
Sounds lot like the deal Obama negotiated that Trump canceled during his first administration saying it was horrible.
2
falilth May 6, 2026 +2
Source: news organization that got caught posting 30 mins after someone made a crazy short position on oil to say a deal was close causing oil to drop in price.
2
Careless_Guitar_463 May 6, 2026 +2
This is the 27th Axios article about an impending deal released in the past few weeks. Surely this one is it and isn't garbage being used to pump the market during the week!

NEVER DOUBT THE POWER OF THE ONE PAGE MEMO FR if you work somewhere where you have to do meetings… that one page memo is your gold ticket to turn a 45 minute snooze fest into a ten minute “get the useful stuff out, then get out” What were we talking about?
