4 US and Mexican anti-cartel officials died in a “car accident” in Chihuahua while destroying clandestine drug labs. The dead include the director of the state’s entire investigation agency, basically the top cop on cartel cases. Top anti-cartel officials dying in a crash while actively raiding drug labs in cartel territory? unluckiest coincidence in history…or big time suspect.

Why was the director of the entire agency doing frontline work at clandestine labs? That seems like someone you wouldnt want to have breaching doors and busting up lab equipment.

Probably should investigate whoever assigned that task to him

Yeah you just send down the rest of the senior staff and the head of every department.

And one unnamed member of the security team.

Always send a red shirt first.
4
Aurora_Fatalis Apr 21, 2026 +2
Riker was the redshirt, by the time of TNG it was the yellowshirts doing traditional redshirt duty.

The other question is why US "instructors" were participating in an enforcement operation on foreign soil. Whole episode is sus.
3
Lirael_Gold Apr 20, 2026 +22
The DEA does a *lot* of stuff in Mexico, and has done for years. Same for the FBI, and other state police forces send "advisors" etc.

CIA and DEA work hand in hand in Mexico, I guessed wrong but hey ho, makes sense.

Probably thought he was safe because carttels usually don't target US operatives, but times are changing.

a little more dana gould in my opinion. regarding his parents' story about his "uncle frankenstein"'s disfigurement from ww2: '"...and there was a terrible accident." No, it was a battle. There was a terrible *on-purpose*.'

No, just accidental lead poisoning. At velocity.
4
Soft_Equipment_2787 Apr 20, 2026 +70
I get it but with US government workers being killed you can bet the US is going to find out what really happened. Last time the cartel decided to kill a DEA agent the US basically went to war with them.
70
HomoProfessionalis Apr 20, 2026 +226
You must have missed the past year or so if you think the US has any sort of competence left within its administration.

But you get this cool eulogy by Kash where he says he’ll see you in Valhalla.
73
Xijit Apr 20, 2026 +58
Oh that gets better: Kash Patel (who is Hindu and his only experience with the military was as a civilian attorney for the DOD) giving a eulogy for Charlie Kirk (a Mormon who's only connection to military service was getting rejected by West Point) and states that they would meet again in the Viking afterlife ... Despite them not being friends and having no regular communication outside of formalities at CPAC events.
58
g0del Apr 20, 2026 +29
Quick correction, Charlie Kirk was an [evangelical](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Kirk#Religious_views), not a Mormon. Though I'm pretty sure evangelicals don't believe in Valhalla either.

loungesinger Apr 20, 2026 +12
Say what you will about the Trump Administration and people they’ve rushed through the hiring process, but there are plenty of career law enforcement who’ve been feds for decades, and who are among the best in the world. They don’t take kindly to targeted assassinations of American law enforcement officials. They can solve the case, as long as leadership does not get in their way or otherwise thwart their efforts.
12
Beneficial-Age-4059 Apr 20, 2026 +5
So they can’t solve the case…
5
avocadoflatz Apr 21, 2026 +2
They can … they just won’t because then they know it’s bad for their own business in more ways than one.

technobicheiro Apr 20, 2026 +19
ah yes lets start the… war on drugs
19
peon2 Apr 20, 2026 +12
The cartels do a lot more than just drugs.
12
Ahelex Apr 20, 2026 +17
"War on Avocados" doesn't have the same ring to it /s
17

Apparently that avocado toast has more blood on it than anyone thought? /s
5
Defiant-Peace-493 Apr 20, 2026 +3
War on the Avocado Jungle of Death, then?
3
Nasty_Goblin Apr 20, 2026 +4
The cartel taught me to diversify my portfolio.
4
technobicheiro Apr 20, 2026 +2
ah so now we can finally get them, war on crime lets gooo such a brilliant and novel approach to law enforcement
2
peon2 Apr 20, 2026 +4
What is the alternative you are suggesting? Just...not trying to do anything to stop criminals because it doesn't always work out perfectly?
4
technobicheiro Apr 20, 2026 -1
decriminalizing drugs, i think thats a given but my point is more that you also arent proposing an alternative, you are just saying lets repeat the same policy of the last 3 decades and now it will work because crime is illegal
-1
peon2 Apr 20, 2026 +2
I mean yes, arresting people isn't go to magically make crime go away, but we should still arrest people that traffic women and children and murder people which is what the cartels do.
2
technobicheiro Apr 20, 2026 +5
yeah i think thats how the law currently works and has worked for decades, thank you

What beautiful portraiture
6

A. Those all look like mugshots sketched by a man with the DT's. B. I wonder if the Michael Weston at the bottom of the page watched Burn Notice, or got shit about it, while he was still alive?
4
Gekokapowco Apr 20, 2026 +1
christ did they get those portraits from witness testimony and police sketch artists? Spared no expense for our DEA heroes /s
1
avocadoflatz Apr 21, 2026 +3
And the cartels won? I mean because they’re still around and richer than ever.
3
Paqza Apr 21, 2026 +1
You should go look up Quique Camarena.
1
Mamadeus123456 Apr 20, 2026 +2
They were killed
2
sharrrper Apr 21, 2026 +1
Honestly, unless the authorities are hiding the details to.save face, I'm inclined to believe it was a car accident. Drug cartels don't stage things to look like accidents. Very specifically the opposites generally. They're usually big on "sending a message".
1
SpaceXmars Apr 20, 2026 +89
Totally on accident yo
89
greggld Apr 20, 2026 +63
Maybe it was a car accident with bullets?
63
Beard_o_Bees Apr 20, 2026 +34
Nah.. they drove off the cliff to *avoid* the bullets, which were crossing the road outside the official cross-walk.
34
greggld Apr 20, 2026 +13
Oddly there was no cliff and their car jumped into the junkyard car crusher that was accidently left by the side of the road.
13
JesusHandjobPalms Apr 21, 2026 +3
The car jumped but I heard it jumped out of a window like a Russian oligarch.
3
Moneyshot_ITF Apr 20, 2026 +184
Any mention on the model/make of the car?
184
TripChaos Apr 20, 2026 +96
No, and no other relevant details either. No idea if the 4 dead were 4/4 occupants, if there was another car in the collision + their status, etc. Not even a picture, which could instantly dispel ideas of the car being attacked/exploded. Car bombs are still way more common than I'd like. This is like the most suspicious possible way to report such an event, lol. "These 4 people died. A car 'accident' was what killed them."
96
museolini Apr 20, 2026 +17
I'm surprised they didn't show a clip of Thelma & Louise driving off the cliff.
17
Cantmentionthename Apr 20, 2026 +118
Yeah it was a 2013 Toyota Corrola, silver, with fake plastic spinner rims, an aftermarket market spoiler, aftermarket headlight and taillight grills spray painted turquoise, and old English lettering on the back windshield that said ‘Morelia’
118
NatureTrailToHell3D Apr 20, 2026 +87

Actually a Tesla and it was on autopilot. Driver was watching a DVD when they crashed.
6
Captain_Aware4503 Apr 20, 2026 +128
I am sure its just an accident, like when a Putin foe falls off a balcony, or when Ivanka fell down some steps.

Ivana* Ivanka is still kicking 🤣 you can’t kill her off yet

5

Did they drive into any bullets?
6
zoopest Apr 20, 2026 +8
Is accident the right word?
8
Remote-Ad-2686 Apr 20, 2026 +7
I remember all of this during the 80s. They didn’t stop the appetite of the US. I guess this record is on repeat.
7
muted_physics77 Apr 21, 2026 +2
in a shocking twist the article gives no details into how they died or what type of accident they had
2
Beneficial-Age-4059 Apr 20, 2026 +2
Car crash /what really happened; set up, ambushed taken to remote location and skinned alive. Lookalike actors chosen to drive same car while other car intentionally crashes into it all visible on Pedro Ruiz Shoe Repair cctv camera to be given to investigators and local news crews. RIP skinned drug fighters
2
crossedstaves Apr 21, 2026 +4
Putting the *car* in cartel.
4
kittencrusher Apr 21, 2026 +1

I guess that covert operation backfired.
1
gotenksburns Apr 21, 2026 +1
Weird. Just saw the crash scene in Ozark lol
1
MrDirtyHarry Apr 21, 2026
My theory is that they either ran over a mine or a drone dropped a bomb on them. I ain't buying the "accident" thing. May they rest in peace.
0
ElPanguero Apr 20, 2026 -6
Lol at all of the experts in here. Sometimes an accident is just an accident. Its much much cheaper to buy these types of officials than to kill them. If Cartel wants them dead its not faked/staged accidents, that's what idiotic govt agencies do.
-6
carefactor3zero Apr 21, 2026 +6
