"First, the U.S. must prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear technology and
delivery capabilities and more broadly block Iranian ambitions. This means,
inter alia, reinstituting and expanding Trump Administration sanctions;
providing security assistance for regional partners; supporting, through
public diplomacy and otherwise, freedom-seeking Iranian people in
their revolt against the mullahs; and ensuring Israel has both the military
means and the political support and flexibility to take what it deems to be
appropriate measures to defend itself against the Iranian regime and its
regional proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad."

It's in Iran's hands when it stops at this point. Doesn't take all that much to keep the Strait closed and watch the economy collapse. If your troops pull out they'll still keep droning your other middle eastern bases and upsetting the countries that host them. > It's in Iran's hands when it stops at this point.
There may not be one set of hands steering that ship. If power has devolved to independent commanders in the IRGC, there's no one voice that can make a decision for Iran as a whole, or prevent others from breaking any ceasefire another group agreed to. They can't both have decentralized power to avoid decapitation strikes, and still retain the capacity for centralized, unified decisionmaking.

There's a lot of possible things we *could* switch to non-oil-based stuff, like making power with solar, wind, or nuclear energy or switching lots of cars from gas-powered to electric. We don't and haven't mostly because oil is relatively c****. If that stops being the case, then businesses will have economic reasons to start making permanent switches away from (no-longer-c****) oil and over to other things. Once that swap has happened in large sections of the economy, even if oil gets c**** again, we won't need as much - the demand has been destroyed. Once everybody has an electric car and the infrastructure is everywhere and market forces make them better and better, eventually you wouldn't buy a gas vehicle outside of unusual requirements, and a gas vehicle would be a weird and impractical choice.
30

Like there are midterms coming up in the US. Trump saying "I win" now means he almost certainly will be back to bomb them then just for headlines.
And their country and government can't justify its existence if it just accepts routine bombing runs from foreign countries as just a thing that happens now. Like that's the basic first and foremost role of a government. Protecting your people from other countries that would attack it.

Scott's smart enough to know he's gonna be dealing with $200 barrels of oil by the end of the month, and who knows how many marines in flag-covered coffins in the background.

They explicitly want this. It will force countries to have to buy their oil from Russia, giving Russia the leverage to force those countries to lift all sanctions against them. In turn it will give Russia the resources they need to finish their invasion of Ukraine and further expand into NATO territory. Everyone in his circle, *is* evilly motivated. They are all in the pocket of Putin and Netanyahu either through bribes or blackmail.

You think he would need an excuse?
I genuinely dont think this was ever intended to go boots on the ground, but the entire admin is mentally disabled and delusional and this will just keep escalating bc there was never a plan and they cant back out now
If he needed a good excuse we never would have started hitting Iran in the first place, yes its a bad government over there but we arent capable of fixing that (as shown over and over every time we fight a war of ideology)

I agree, doubt they actually meant to, but Iran called their bluff when they closed the straight of hormuz. Now US has no choice or face >$5/g gas. And for an administration that went full on oil, that’s a deathblow. Israel played them good.

2k marines shipping over before this happened says yes.
The idea is to provoke so far that the us administration can claim (orchestrate) 'plausible' (false flag) operations on us soil to suspend elections.
They are all in. If the government turns blue, they are absolutely fucked. This was apparent before the election. They have to maintain control at all costs to avoid prosecution.

5
vulcan7200Mar 14, 2026

Its an incredibly stupid move, because even if Iran gets crippled economically, it wouldn't immediately collapse and disappear off the map. Iran can absolutely cause significant damage to the global economy before going down if it ever came down to a "do or die" situation and thats what the Trump Administration really fails to take into account. If faced with the existential threat of collapsing into nothingness, nothing stops them from unloading their entire stock pile of rockets and drones at every oil storage site within reach. They simply have more drones amd rockets than we have munitions to shoot them down.

"totally obliterated" has been doing a lot of heavy lifting lately.
First it was Iran's nuclear abilities, which they miraculously rebuilt in mere months after nearly being two weeks away from having a bomb for the last 47 years!
Now their military targets. Hmmm, I wonder what's gonna suddenly respawn next week?

What a cluster f***... My friends, we have to f****** fix American leadership, both Republican and Democrats, also need to stop funding Isreal today and label AIPAC as a terrorist organization as they have infiltrated our government freely for decades. They are the tip of the spear of Israel power in America, if you're voting soon, do your homework and see which candidates are NOT taking AIPAC money or a shell or AIPAC.
This is Israels war not ours and I don't want even the most MAGA loving American soldier to die for Netanyahu not to mention billions of tax dollars that should benefit your family your infrastructure and your city/state.

All facets of a military only exist to support regular infantry. 11b is at the center of the United States' military solar system. Yes that means you too, Marine. There can be no strategic victory with air alone. There will be a ground invasion, and it will be America's last quagmire.
And there is nobody more eager to watch America commit its naval & air resources into a major losing effort right now than China.

I mean, what’s the chance Iran will just bomb the island and make it useless? Yeah there is oil infrastructure that will be seized but that is like, what do they have to lose? It’s being taken anyway.
