This is misleading, as they are already blocked from EU sales. There are ways to skirt the law and still import them, but they cannot be legally sold en-masse. The article notes that in 2024 7,000 yank tanks were sold in EU.. But to give perspective - that is 7k out of 10.6 million cars sold.
And anyone who lives in EU and saw one of those on the road - knows exactly why they should not be sold here. They are way too big for the infrastructure.

At the beginning of SUV and pickups boom, the car companies in the US purposely marketed those towards people who were scared of petty crimes, had low confidence in their own driving skills, were self-centered, anxious in their personal life, and inconsiderate of others. Lookup Clotaire Rapaille, who created this customer persona for Ford, GM, and Chrysler. His motto at the time was "these cars would sold better if they had machine guns mounted on them". At the time, they were selling those cars as apocalyptic hedge, basically. It's one of more interesting stories from the history of marketing; one of few that I heard that match stories from tobacco industry. Even if it is utterly deranged.

Not just gas guzzling, but dangerous for pedestrians. European (and Asian) standards for pedestrian safety are way more strict than American standards, which are mostly non-existent. What this means is that getting hit by an F-150 almost always results in significant pedestrian injury or death, even at 25/35 mph, while your typical European car is designed to minimize fatality at those speeds.

Can we do this in America? I see trunks a few times a week that can’t fit in parking lines. I live in a rural area so li es are already bigger than average. It’s not only truck length, it’s the damn extended tires making the vehicle wide!

Honestly, good. I'm in the US and I drive a 2018 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. The current gen Colorado, which is supposed to be a class down from the Silverado, is the same size as my truck. The current gen Silverados are massive and dwarf my truck in every dimension. I parked next to a Dodge Ram 2500 and those things are f****** tanks. It's completely out of control.

I'm already for the rules, you don't have to sell them to me.

They don't have big enough roads for vehicles that size anyway right?

Good news, everybody! No more shit-car/trucks on the streets of Europe! More parking space! Less idiots!

Have US carmakers ever been to Europe?? It’s not what I would consider a ripe market for large cars much less pickup trucks!

Nobody wants these f****** pickup trucks in Europe anyways

Oh no! The American automotive industry's decades of short sighted product line decisions and objectively bad design choices is fully coming home to roost?!
How wonderful. These fuckers are only alive because they leach off the federal government, kneecap their unions at every opportunity, and lobby for insane protectionist policies on competitive foreign imports, let em rot.

Most of them are already blocked in a way tbh, our roads and parking spaces aren't made for your trucks.

Good. Don't let them in. They ruin the ecosystem and make driving smaller cars dangerous.

I wasn’t under the impression that those sold in basically any volume whatsoever in Europe.

My memories of going to Italy as a child are a little hazy... but I'm pretty sure one of those large American pickup trucks would probably get wedged in one of those small Italian city streets.

Well, that shouldn't be that much of an issue... "Large" pickups are basically undrivable in the cities, even in Germany. Try it in Italy or Greece, and get insane quick... ;-)
Seriously, the article itself says "large American pickups and SUVs accounted for 7,000 vehicle sales in the EU in 2024", so this is a nothingburger...

Those large trucks can maybe fit in 3 or 4 cities in Europe, but there would probably only be 3 or 4 people in those cities who wouldn't be pissed off at their presence.

I mean just look at the width of roads for most of EU. US carmakers are unrealistic crybabies. As an American, I feel nothing in response to their bellyaching.

When you constantly shit on your allies and trading partners, you don't get to complain about their rules. I say this as an American.

Please, and ban SUVs as well. They seriously damage UK roads.

Good, the roads aren’t made for them and they’re a general hazard to anyone who doesn’t have a vehicle big enough to see over/around them.

Hopefully and please ban SUVs as well. No one needs to drive a tank like vehicle
