Why is consumer confidence rising? The irrational stock market? Spring? Elderly MAGA that don’t give a shit about the grandkids going on a cruise?

Not sure. Everything is disconnected

Came here to say this. Like, what gives you confidence? The crazy man in office? The rising oil prices? Just trust me, bro?

the only section of the consumer economy that is confident is among those of the bourgeoisie - of wealth and status. They are the only ones able to afford the price of goods in today's America. Gas in NY is up a full f****** dollar and Donald Trump did that. No one else. I can imagine it is worse elsewhere in the country.

It's a surprise to me, diesel is hitting over $5 per gallon, gasoline is over $4 per gallon, electricity prices have climbed by 20% since Trump took office, inflation is running at 4% in the latest report. But I guess eggs are now under $6.00 per dozen so it's all good?

The University of Michigan survey was absolutely terrible.

I really want to hear directly from these confident consumers and investors. I don't believe they exist.

Rich people are getting richer and spending more.

>While the correlation between consumer confidence and spending is weak, rising gasoline prices and falling share values, combined with a softening labor market, could undercut consumption and curb economic growth. Higher-income households have led consumer spending, underpinned by robust wealth levels. I get Roaring 20s vibe from this.

Is it time for a working class revolution against the rich yet?

It has been for over a century. I'm ready to do my part.

Um, but Republican working class keep voting to lower (eliminate?) the taxes of billionaires. How can that logic fail? /s

If the working class can't be bothered to fill out a scantron one every other year, they definitely aren't revolting.

Actually I am extremely confident with all of my purchases right now. Confident that anything I buy today will likely cost much more tomorrow so F it, if I need it, get it now while the getting is less sucky.
