I have seen more consistent disagreement on this from r cons than with other topics. I know they censor all that eventually but my personal subjective “feeling” is that it’s different. This one hits a bit harder. Another “funny” thing to see is that for a lot of them it’s not the event itself that’s bad, but they’re mad at Trump because this is going to cost them the mid terms. As in, starting a war is whatever, but losing the mid terms because you started a war now thats a problem.

Israel has effectively annexed Lebanon of the L Shaped land east of the Litani upper & south of Litani Lower. Hezbollah almost prefers to fight in hand to hand combat in this region with Israeli soldiers as it saves them from airstrikes .. Stay very close to your enemy, follow them closely & they cant blow you up in an airstrike. Its proved highly effective & has really spooked the Israelis who arnt used to fighters moving in the direction of oncoming fire. I think people don’t understand the scale at which other countries are complicit in what has been happening in West Asia (and much of South Asia in recent decades to be fair) for a long time. The average citizens are expected to find a way to improve their material conditions despite militarized police forces and kangaroo courts. But none what we do matters if the US and Israel continue to have absolute immunity on the world stage. As a duo we’ve made things worse for the entire planet. But those with any ability to hold us accountable keep profiting from our meddling. Other nations turn a blind eye at best and enable our endeavors at worst. This system seems hopeless but I know that’s intentional.

The real answer is because it’s a red line for many Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia. It’s one thing for a country like Saudi Arabia to stay “neutral” / support the US putting troops in Iran. But they can’t do the same for Israel (even if they support them) because it would look bad for them and cause a lot of political unrest with the people.

The US formed a coalition with several Arab states for the Gulf War. The fear was that the coalition would fall apart if Israel joined the fight, as Arab countries would not want to be seen fighting with Israel against another Arab state. Israel didn’t strike back to avoid risking the coalition.

Looking a lot more like a piece of paper as of late *WPR states "national emergency created by attack upon the United States” required for introduction. Widely reported and said by our own leaders that we were not under imminent threat. Constitutionality is not a tired talking point, it is inherently not a good thing that the United States has largely treated war declaration as optional. I am guessing the Marines are going to attempt to take and hold the area in Iran immediately around the Strait of Hormuz. Even if successful, they will be surrounded on three sides by extremely pissed-off and highly motivated Iranian military units, with absolutely nothing to prevent the Iranians from targeting ships just outside the narrowest part of the Strait.

I didn't feel safe in an amtrak in 2010, I sure as shit wouldn't in the age of FPV drones. Ospreys barely hold it together without the stresses of a combat situation. They only bring a extra handful of jets to the party. Maybe the situation has changed in the last decade, but a single MEU isn't equipped for this mission anymore.

So this war is far from being ‘complete’. It will take two weeks sailing time to get from Japan to the Arabian gulf. If the plan is to use these forces to control the SOH what happens in the two weeks before they arrive? If oil can’t be exported it means production will have to be cut - there are not limitless storage tanks available. The current oil price will seem c**** when we look back in two weeks time. Plus if Trump is correct and 90% of Iran’s military facilities have been destroyed it will mean Iran’s full focus will be on the only asset they have left - causing carnage in the SOH. Sounds like Trump/Hegseth et al have really thought this through. 🤦‍♀️

Preston Stewarts take on this is probably the best I’ve heard. They’re either going to bolster regional defenses at US military bases or they’re going to assist Israel in invading southern Lebanon. 2200 marines isn’t an invasion force by themselves but it is a step toward a full blown, boots on the ground war. Either way, not good.

Ground troops to where? The facilities we bombed? To guard rubble as they retrieve uranium that we lost track of and scattered around the country since last year after we initially bombed them? To cities to overthrow their government and establish democracy? We bombed (accidentally) a school and they have almost a million military personnel. Iraq had 375,000. The best course of action is for Trump to declare victory and take the loss. This is a war by choice. Not because we were attacked and we won’t have the stomach for long war/operation/conflict.
