engaging in wars overseas and destroying the environment at home.

Don't forget, also destroying the economy at home. So much winning!

How do you expect me to spend my tarrif check when I haven't spent my DOGE check yet?

I'm still trying to work through all those Soros Bucks I collected a few years ago.

Oh right, another round of checks from No Kings last weekend should be in the mail by now, too.

I mean, their goal is to depopulate and destroy the earth so they're actually doing a great job.

F*** the economy, f*** our allies, f*** the environment, f*** kids! The Republican way!

Killing and arresting us with our tax money and killing everybody else around the world with our tax money.

Every Republican president in my lifetime has started a war, removed environmental protections, and tanked our economy. Every single one.
311
Sea-Oven-7560 Mar 31, 2026 +62
yes but they cut your taxes so you get an extra $11 in your paycheck. That's all they care about, of course they don't give a shit about the trillions of dollars in debt they they rack up unless a Democratic president is in office and then they are deeply concerned about their grandchildren.
62
badnuub Mar 31, 2026 +42
They don't even cut our taxes anymore, they stopped pretending they cared about us at all and cut the taxes for their rich donors and that's it, while cutting any benefits that people might have at the same time. But woke, I guess.
42
JackPoe Mar 31, 2026 +12
11$ more per check! Your bills are going up 300$ though.

If we have to see a bright light in this news (but sad news, of course ) is that they’re still calling it the Gulf of Mexico, which must piss off the old demented man in charge.
28
st00ji Mar 31, 2026 +13
That was weeks ago, he has long forgotten
13
AOChalky Mar 31, 2026 +38
The oil is from the Gulf of America. The endangered species belong to the Gulf of Mexico, so it is Mexico's responsibility to take care of them. Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Republicans literally destroy everything they touch. I don’t understand why these fuckers hate the environment so much.
1366
Icy_Policy_8509 Mar 31, 2026 +573
Crazy they're supposed to be the religious ones and the earth was supposed to be made by God for people! And yet they don't hesitate to blow it up any chance they get
573
witchofpain Mar 31, 2026 +259
Because they believe it WAS made just for humans. To do whatever we want. They don’t believe that we are part of the eco system but master of it.
259
DrAstralis Mar 31, 2026 +127
Funny enough the book they've never read but wont shut the f*** up about has an entire parable about not f****** everything up while the master is away....
127
laffing_is_medicine Mar 31, 2026 +40
I believe their most common response is: ‘The earth was made for them to devour’
40
Count_Backwards Mar 31, 2026 +24
God: "Be good stewards of the Earth." Republicans: "Cool, did you hear that? It's ours, we can do whatever we want with it!"
24
sQueezedhe Mar 31, 2026 +65
Because they want the end of days; pretending they're the good guys.
65
Frisnism Mar 31, 2026 +28
They believe the earth was made by God to be used up and destroyed by people. That’s when the winning begins and the world burns down and we all go to heaven. See? Doesn’t that make you feel better?
28
helmsb Mar 31, 2026 +26
The ones who benefit from things like this don’t care because religion is only a tool for them to control others. They don’t hold any of the beliefs they espouse. It works because their followers will overlook pretty much anything because they claim to be “Christian” while ignoring the fact that they are against every one of Christ’s teachings. It inoculates the followers because questioning a particular politician is now framed as questioning God. It’s the same tactic that the “Prosperity Preachers” use to bilk people and not have them push back.
26
CleverAnimeTrope Mar 31, 2026 +34
I always remember that they love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and US history, yet they hate protecting rivers, national parks, the ocean, and the woods they hunt.
34
NotNamedBort Mar 31, 2026 +24
Because they don’t see it as something beautiful to appreciate and care for. They see resources they can exploit.
24
Rocketeer006 Mar 31, 2026 +36
Why are Republicans like that? All they do is lie and screw people over to benefit themselves.
36

A federal panel, convened for the first time in more than three decades, voted unanimously on Tuesday ‌to exempt oil and gas drillers in the Gulf of Mexico from a law meant to protect endangered species including whales, birds and sea turtles. The meeting of the Endangered Species Committee, nicknamed the "God Squad" because of its power to grant exemptions to the Nixon-era Endangered Species Act, is the latest effort by the Trump administration

After the collapse, not before or during.
24
flyingalbatross1 Mar 31, 2026 +8
No you see, they've perfected it now. When the collapse happens, we need to bail them out with public money from common taxes to prevent harm to the common person. You know, because the system collapse would harm everyone? When they make excess profits, they get them all because they earned it. If there's regulations in the way, we need to give them a bye, to ensure they make excess profits which will surely trickle down and enrich the workers. See, it all works out on the end.

All the spray tan and hairspray probably left a depletion in the ozone too.

Phoenixfury12 Mar 31, 2026 +21
For those who need a definition of eco-terrorism: Eco-terrorism is the use or threatened use of violence of a criminal nature against people or property by environmentally oriented, subnational groups for environmental-political reasons. It involves illegal sabotage—often called "ecotage"—aimed at industries perceived as damaging to the environment, such as logging, energy, or animal research.

“God wants us to destroy people and animals” - MAGA probably
127

Pretty close. They cite a line in the Bible about God telling them to be masters of the animals. That’s where they get this Dominion/birthright to tame/destroy everything.

Which is why they push for religion so hard.
8
NetZeroSun Mar 31, 2026 +12
Yup. But let’s be honest. They don’t truly believe it. Just excuse that as rationale for their actions. End of the day, greedy people take what they want if they can get away with it and say it’s divine will that they did decisions to do things for their enrichment.

The Endangered Species Act is a law no? What gives them the authority to subvert written law? This will be challenged in court I assume?
147
Nubsta5 Mar 31, 2026 +50
Challenged in court for the next decade. Meanwhile they will do millennia of damage in that time.
50
Elysiaa Mar 31, 2026 +31
This is built into the ESA as amended in (I think) 1978. It applies to the species itself and its critical habitat. There is a committee of cabinet level officials who may grant exemptions to the ESA if: * there are no reasonable and prudent alternatives to the agency action; * the benefits of such action clearly outweigh the benefits of alternative courses of action consistent with conserving the species or its critical habitat, and such action is in the public interest; * the action is of regional or national significance; and * neither the Federal agency concerned nor the exemption applicant made any irreversible or irretrievable commitment of resources

Yea I know, I'm just saying, this seems like another instance of unconstitutional overreach and will be added to the pile.
19
ABetterKamahl1234 Mar 31, 2026 +9
> This will be challenged in court I assume? As exemplified by the now dissolved Corporation for Public Broadcasting (I think was the name), court challenges don't matter if they're not timely and immediate. They don't exist and SCOTUS just ruled that the EO that caused them to lose all funding was in fact unconstitutional. But they don't exist anymore to be saved. Irreversible damage will be done and nobody will be punished under the regime.
9
Homeless_Gandhi Mar 31, 2026 +4
There’s a great podcast about how the ESA came to be and it’s implications for the future called “the Wide Open.” I highly recommend it.

There's a whale that's endangered and only endemic to the gulf, and this is probably it for the species.

The irony is us being one of those species....
11
Turkino Mar 31, 2026 +84
Sure, let's drive a bunch of animals towards extinction in a haphazard effort to make up for an issue that you yourself caused. Completely ignoring the fact that any actual results of this will happen on the scale of years, not weeks or months, so does nothing to address the issue in the short term. In short, it's just another moneygrab concession for his Oil Industry buddies that he's been simping for ever since coming into power.

I guess gulf states will be getting exactly what they voted for. Sucks for the normal people living on the gulf.
9

This is a bunch of bullshit. This is another way for the king and his minions to reward big business by screwing with everything, and the non-war is just a convenient excuse to get away with it. Remember BP oil and Deepwater Horizon? The damage done is still affecting the environment and that happened in 2010. End the war and we won’t run out of stuff, you moron.

There's a massive oil leak just this month it's just not all over the news for "whatever reason"
6
popejohnsmith Mar 31, 2026 +15
Remember the oil sludge already festering at its bottom... BP. Remember? It was never removed. Only chemically treated such that it would sink to the bottom (sparing the shoreline somewhat).

maltam Mar 31, 2026 +16
Remember when MAGA's only argument against wind turbines was fake concern over whales and birds? I remember

Just like every single one of them is a major advocate of women's sports when trans people are discussed. They'll find whatever excuse they can find to believe the things they're told to believe.

This administration realy wants to f*** up Norh America as much as possible up to level of needing teraforming. They are concisenessly and by choice evil. Those guys are extinction level criminals.

Remember this during the next Deepwater Horizon, folks. Impeach them all. ***Now.***

thepianoman456 Mar 31, 2026 +10
Meanwhile, Republicans and Trump don’t want wind turbines because they “might do harm to wildlife”. I can’t f****** stand these hypocrites.

BarnabasShrexx Mar 31, 2026 +9
Wheres the "both sides are the same" dimwits on this one??
9
TingleyStorm Mar 31, 2026 +16
So we can’t have windmills in *Iowa* because it will somehow hurt the whales, but pouring crude oil straight into their actual habitat is A-Ok?
16
ch7mbucket Apr 1, 2026 +8
Hmm. What actually trump had ever done that can be considered good? So far I got none

Seriously_you_again Apr 1, 2026 +8
Gulf of America! Usa usa… are we winning yet? No? Ok kill some more endangered species please.
8
NiobiumThorn Mar 31, 2026 +7
At what point is this foo far. At what point do we need to stop yelling, stop debating in congress, and start physically dismantling the industry that poisons the world we need. The only world we know that we can survive on. I obviously do not condone targeting of fossil fuel infrastructure, nor do I recommend anyone, ever, read Andreas Malm. I support big business in their goal to increase shareholder profits and improve their sales margins.

This is outrageous and disgusting. I want to suggest that everyone posting here contact the DOI to express their disappointment with this decision. Yes, it may seem that it doesn't matter but flooding their phone lines and inboxes with our disapproval helps more than posting on social media.  Here is the contact page for the DOI: https://www.doi.gov/contact-us#no-back

Baddies. THEY ARE THE BADDIES. Mother Earth will reject them.
6
absolutelynotagoblin Mar 31, 2026 +18
Yay! We're going to destroy, obliterate and wipe off the face of the earth species that existed for hundreds if not thousands of years because the president of the United States has a tiny d*** and a complex over it.

erebus49 Mar 31, 2026 +5
Looks like endangered species do not pay bribes

Gulf of Merica makes sense as we turn that inter national body of water into USA's toilet.

Bro wtf is wrong with everyone single one of you Trump fucks. Ill never understand the level of pure idiocy from yall. To sit there and pretend to be smart and debate about the "better side". I can't
5
Gone213 Mar 31, 2026 +5
Use their executive orders against them. What's the Gulf of Mexico? According to the US federal government, the body of water that touches the southern US states is Gulf of America. The protections for the Gulf of America are still there while the protections for Gulf of Mexico arent. So oil drillers cant drill quite yet.
5
Gonzo_1963 Mar 31, 2026 +6
I thought it was the Gulf of America
6
AHelplessKitten Mar 31, 2026 +5
When did we go back to Gulf of Mexico?
5
Doctor_Mothman Mar 31, 2026 +6
So it IS still the Gulf of Mexico...
6
Cltxlv Apr 1, 2026 +5
At this point I’m absolutely convinced we’re about a decade or so from an extinction level event, these people know, and are just ramping up the pillaging.

If we can't protect the people of Gaza what chance do manatees and sea horses have
5

Kinda makes me laugh when I see the Gulf of Mexico instead of America. It's like it never happened.

Like PBS funding, they’ll determine it illegal after the last 55 Rice’s Whales have already gone extinct. Wish somebody world protect our country right now.

NitWhittler Mar 31, 2026 +4
Trump wants to be "KING of OIL" at a time when the rest of the world is trying to cut dependence on oil. Trump waved the white flag and surrendered in the worldwide race toward wind, solar, geothermal, etc. The world is progressing to better energy alternatives, while Trump is trying to drown us in oil and bury us with coal.
4

Apparently anything can be done for “national security reasons.”

So the Gulf of America is not exempt? In which case endangered species are still protected!
4

Guys, Gulf of America! And Kid Rock is the mascot.
3

If there is no benefit to pre47/admin47 and their friends and family, then it's a laissez-faire government response, especially if restriction originated in a democratic-party-led administration

Trump is so desperate to drop thw price of oil he's willing to kill evwryone to do it.
4
Ichno Mar 31, 2026 +3
Meanwhile Florida is seeking to permanently ban drilling off its coasts.
3
machu505 Mar 31, 2026 +4
I think you know damn well it's not called the Gulf of Mexico any more...it's the Gulf of Epstein.
4
Pittonecio Mar 31, 2026 +4
Considering the gulf of Mexico is also part of Mexico, isn't this an international issue and basically telling Mexico to suck it and let endangered species die too?
4
SeanConneryAgain Mar 31, 2026 +4
To be fair, most oil companies will follow precedent. They don’t want to lose money coming back into compliance when democrats come back in and reverse everything Trump did
4
Cheese-Manipulator Mar 31, 2026 +3
I hope the admin is endangered

He got us into an idiotic war, screwed over the US in the process, and now he is desperate to get gas prices down before November. Nature will have to pay for his stupidity.

I won't even step foot in the Gulf. The grossest looking water, also several times a years it's literally unsafe because of bacteria levels.
