He can try. Elections are run by the states and unless they WILLINGLY go along with it, it's empty posturing. The only states that would willingly suspend their own elections are red states, and all that will happen is their own representatives won't be sent to Congress, shooting themselves in the foot. If they want to do that, more power to them. They don't get a 'do over', or get to unilaterally decide who to send. It's elect representatives or nothing. For blue/purple states, the correct (and ONLY) response is 'F*** you, make me'. Short of a literal armed takeover of the state governments (which would be a no-take-backsies actual Civil War), there's fuckall Trump can do. No executive orders, no lawsuits, no mean tweets, nothing. Pretending he has any authority whatsoever over how states manage their elections gets us nowhere. If voting didn't matter, right-wingers wouldn't be doing everything in their power to subvert elections and disenfranchise voters.

It doesn’t matter if there are mid terms or not. The people pulling trumps strings will find another puppet. We need significant reforms because any and all democrats will be neutered the second they swear their oath.

You say that but look at the what's going on. Trump is in power (again). Every day seems to be a new incident that would crater any other politician's career. Republicans in Congress have absolutely no desire to check his power. There also seems to be no end to the ways in which Trump and his people are enriching themselves off this shit. Barring some massive institutional upheaval in which all of these people are held accountable in serious and borderline draconian ways, we are all going to be paying the price for the rest of our lives. They are clearly doing something right, by some given fucked up definition of "right". They've also been playing the long game since well before Trump. Trump is just the bumbling fool of a face to put on shit right now to make people like you think they are all inept idiots.

While it won't go well, based off of what he has done so far, it is not a bridge to far for him! He wants the unrest in order to use the military to stay in power!
