The mental gymnastics that it must take to believe that anything ICE agents has done requires any sacrifice besides their humanity…

I’d argue they didn’t have any to begin with, that’s why they signed up

I’m glad the government has time for this while gas is climbing to probably be $4/gal by the end of the weekend. Edit: $4/gal national average

Yeah, Live rurally. >Drive further away to the nearest gas station for gas that’s still in the ~$3.88 range (that’s the national average right now). >Drive further away if you want groceries, instead of being able to walk/bike to the grocery store, as you could in a big city >Drive further away to get to work, instead of a job that could potentially be 2-5 miles away. Looking forward to the “*jUsT gEt a WeRK fRom HomE JerB*” comments as though rural communities have super easy access to internet, and those telecommute jobs aren’t being shut down by AI bullshit. >Increase the wear-and-tear on your vehicle running on barely maintained rural roads. Don’t worry, if you need to get something fixed, you can just spend all day at your mechanics since they’re 30+ miles away. >Buy rural property in disrepair (because, let’s be honest, you ever drive through rural areas and see really well maintained homes most of the time? No, it’s hard to find contractors willing to travel long distances for a job) that you won’t be able to sell later on because it’s literally in the middle of nowhere and you just found out you’re the sucker. >Be more susceptible to losing everything you own to things like floods or wildfires. Have terrible response times for emergency services. But also enjoy all the little critters that like to get into everything. Pack rats in your engine compartment chewing your wires, woodpeckers f****** up the siding of your house. So much fun. >Bonus : Try not to talk to anybody in your rural community as they’re probably misguided Red Hat idiots who’ll shoot you dead if you so much as look at *their* dirt patch. You are now spending more money with extra steps! Great plan. 👍 (Source: I live semi-rurally and spend way too much of my life driving/spending more on gas to do simple every day tasks). Edit: downvoting doesn’t make what I said less true. 😆

They mean cars you can actually drive around, not use for target practice.

What’s with these chickenshit scare quotes?
17
SamBo_LamBo Mar 20, 2026 +7
They’re trying to make it look like mild dissent will be punished.

How incredibly shocking that a person named Olivia Rodrigo might not like the idea of rounding up and disappearing Latinos. She should really consider siding with the masked kidnappers.

Icy-Whale-2253 Mar 20, 2026 +28
For the record she’s Filipina… not Latina
28
where-sea-meets-sky Mar 20, 2026 +7
tbf were basically asian mexicans anyway there was a lot of admixture during the colonial era between ph and mexico so not latino, but hispanic yes

jimgolgari Mar 20, 2026 +5
Yup, I explained my comment further down.

DokeyOakey Mar 20, 2026 -8
Odd take, mind clarifying?

jimgolgari Mar 20, 2026 +9
I’ll start by saying this is sarcastic and maybe I should have /s. The pull quote in the article says she should thank them for their service. She’s Filipino but with a name that comes from Spanish descent. I’m always amazed by how disingenuous these supposed mic drop moments are for the right. Either they know they’re being obtuse but want the snarky pull quote or they genuinely believe that PoC should be in adoration of the actions of ICE.

DokeyOakey Mar 20, 2026 -11
Yes, it sounded like you were supporting the gov’t on this one without the “/s”.
-11
TheGoonSquad612 Mar 20, 2026 +14
It was very, very obviously sarcasm.
14
DokeyOakey Mar 20, 2026 -5
Obviously I disagree. To me it sounded like they were talking shit about Rodrigo.

SeriousAsPie Mar 20, 2026 +10
DID SHE EVEN SAY THANK YOU?! F***'s sake.

I've never seen any world government beef with pop singers the way the current US administration does. They could try running the country properly....but that's too hard for them, they just resort to internet beef and trolling instead. That's the only thing the US gov is capable of right now. It's all that their IQ allows.

thedoommerchant Mar 20, 2026 +2
Not a surprise this government continues to be an absolute f****** joke. More focused on memes and starting wars than doing anything meaningful to help everyday people.
2
Big-Yak-8928 Mar 20, 2026 +2
They say she’s belittling the work of law enforcement, but memeifying the work of the same law enforcement isn’t belittling or trivializing? They want Olivia to “show some respect” but don’t feel that playing pop songs for comedy over law enforcement actions is disrespectful? The flip from internet troll to the forever-offended Pearl-clutching “traditionalists” is so exhausting with this administration.

AttractivePigeons Mar 20, 2026 +2
Hey, if Sabrina Carpenter can get the New York City mayor Indicted, I'm sure Olivia Rodrigo can figure something out regarding Trump.

gibbojab Mar 20, 2026 +1
I don’t know why ICE would use her music she can’t even parallel park and they just drive through anyone in their way.

Sasquatcheeethree Mar 20, 2026 +1
Again they are responding to her how much time on their hands wow they shouldn't use her stuff without permission
