The crux of their argument won’t involve sanctions being lifted at all, because they won’t have heard about it. They’ll talk about the DOW being at record highs, and won’t know that it’s not. They’ll talk about gas prices being down and ignore their own gas bill. I literally heard one say recently, “Now that we found out all the people in the Epstein files were democrats, maybe they can talk about something else. It sure seems like the those kids were willing participants anyway.”

Pro-MasturbatorMar 21, 2026
ykw i'll answer this in good faith:
The plan is to try and force a Catch 22.
Iran's primary means of forcing a peace on their terms is to choke asia's oil supply thus crippling the global economy. In the west, GCC oil shortages cause the price of gas to go up from supply and demand, but for south and east asia that IS their fuel supply, they dont get it from anywhere else. This goes on too long, the lights go out.
However, Iran's only real economy is their oil industry. If the gulf is closed, they cant sell any oil either, and thus cant afford to sustain a wartime economy. Cant buy drone parts from China on credit forever, let alone more specialized items to keep a country's infrastructure running or paying for temporary leadership positions. Oil dollars dont immediately turn into weapons however, you still gotta make them in factories that are blowing up constantly.
So the American plan is this: Either Iran stays the course, refuses to sell the oil and keeps the strait closed, which could turn Iran from a victim to a problem(or worse, a threat) in the eyes of eastern nations, potentially causing them to begin supporting the war to just get the strait back open. Or Iran can sell the oil, reducing pressure on the global economy and losing leverage in any negotiations in favor of trying to pay for more weapons to continue the fight, which the US is willing to bet they can interdict.
Of course the risk here is Iran potentially getting more weapons with the oil money than the US can destroy, but like everything in war its a gamble(like everything this admin does). Personally I think Iran will fall into the trap and the US will get a minor win, but not enough to really alleviate the pain caused by the closed strait or end the war.

Israel and US are increasingly isolating themselves from the Western allies.
In a couple decades, Europe would be re-armed sufficiently to not give a c*** about the US and provide sufficient deterrence against Russia. China would have grown as well. This is where Iran can start to make in-roads globally, I mean, are they really the bad guys when Israel is out there flattening cities?

If you were in charge of finding buyers for Iranian oil, who would you sell it to in order to maximize benefit to Iran without reducing pressure on the US?
