But doing so would have meant significantly longer build up, and getting allies other than Israel and the Gulf Arabs on board with a real war, not just Operation Performative D*** Wagging #2.
And THAT would have required the soft power and diplomacy resources this Administration fucked away back in January '25.

Here's their answer btw, just dilute the gas - https://www.newsweek.com/republicans-vote-to-dilute-gas-as-prices-rise-above-4-50-11949494
> House Republicans passed a bill on Wednesday that would allow nationwide year-round sales of E15, a blend of gasoline mixed with 15 percent ethanol, also known as Unleaded 88—a product that refiners and retailers normally cannot sell in around half the country during the summer months due to air pollution concerns.
> Ethanol, a clear, colorless, volatile, and flammable alcohol produced by fermenting sugars from agricultural crops such as corn or sugarcane, generally reduces greenhouse gases, but E15 can produce more smog-forming emissions when it evaporates in heat.
> However, while the E15 rollout can lower prices, ethanol does contains less energy than gasoline, so eventually with E15, a driver will end up burning more fuel for the same amount of distance, albeit fuel which is slightly cheaper than standard gasoline.
Basically this 'solution' to the price rise from the Iran war produces smog, burns faster than regular gasoline so you will have to fill up more often and pollutes at a higher rate than gasoline over a longer period of use.

Lead poisoning causes brain damage, brain damage has this weird thing of causing people to become very conservative despite thier views prior to brain damage, most of the people in government due to thier age have a very high close to 100% change they had some level of lead poisoning, leaded gass is linked to extreme levels in a lot of people from that era, not even inducing lead paint and all of the other thing they were dousing in lead then, his theory may not be far off.

Yes, and it burns faster, so, regardless if it's cheaper, you need to fill up more frequently. In college, there was a gas station near me that was always like 40 cents cheaper, but a full tank would only get you 200 miles instead of 300 because they watered down their gas with ethanol, and just didn't post it.

These first gen biofuels are horrible. You are burning edible crops. Which needs a lot fertilizer, degrade soil and making food more expensive. They are not good for engines too.
This exists only due to lobbyists and corruption. Build solar panels, wind farm, etc. Build electric cars and infrastructure for them. That have sense today.
2
AloysiusakamudMay 15, 2026
+4
The reason we don't use a higher mix year round and in all states:
Phase Separation: If the fuel is exposed to significant humidity, the mixture cannot hold more water. The ethanol-water mix drops out of the gasoline to the bottom of the tank.
Corrosion & Performance Issues: This separated water-ethanol layer is highly corrosive, damaging fuel tanks, pumps, and rubber components. It also creates "stale" gas, which can cause stalling and prevent engines from starting.

However longer term thinking might have helped too. If only we had the ability to make energy without oil. Like from wind or solar or something crazy like that. How about making small economy cars again eh? Those enviro laws have been on books for 30+ years and all they did was making huge SUVs gas guzzlers a norm ,not an exception.
While at it,would it be possible to make econo EVs? All EVs on market are luxury vehicles -not one is actually affordable to general population.

I'd recommend sending Iran a sincere apology, paying war reps, and getting the f*** out.

> suspending the federal gas tax, a step that would knock 18 cents a gallon off motor fuel prices currently averaging more than $4.50 a gallon nationwide.
I think they’ll need to lower the prices a lot more than 18 cents to stop people from being upset.

Option 1. Drop off dear leader in Tehran. No return flight til he negotiates a deal to replace the one he scrapped that was working.

I remember a short few years ago, Joe Biden got gas prices down without resorting to watering down gas. Too bad Trump refuses to do anything that has Joe Biden's name attached to it, like not getting into a major war in the middle east and playing OPEC against each other. Trump's benefactors in Saudi Arabia amd UAE are making bank with high prices and they dont want to see them lowered.

I spent $70 for half a tank the other day. It sucks and I am single, work remote and paid well. I simply cannot fathom how other people living check to check and HAVE to commute are doing $100 weekly for a full tank

Does anyone honestly believe diluting fuel will lower prices to pre-war numbers? Maybe a slight decrease, but these companies will keep prices up with the decrease in fuel quality, wringing every single cent out of consumers as they have to fill up more often with reduced fuel quality.

Hrm..
It's almost like we have a completely rational electric energy transportation model that doesn't tie us to hostile foreign nations and that is readily available to the public vs. gasoline.

Yes, oil prices are part of a "global" market, but we could just use the oil WE produce and not try to maximize profits for oil executives. There's that. 😕

Well, there was something interesting happening when there was competition for fuel with EVs, but, I guess it's just a coincidence EVs are getting cancelled again and gas is up.
