"We will continue global maritime enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate,” a Pentagon statement said. Ship-tracking data showed the Majestic X in the Indian Ocean between Sri Lanka and Indonesia , roughly the same location as the oil tanker Tifani, earlier seized by American forces. It had been bound for Zhoushan, China. ... The standoff between the U.S. and Iran has effectively choked off nearly all exports through the strait with no end in sight.

what do they do with the oil? Is the US keeping it/selling it? China can't be happy about this.

Maybe the US is bored with Iran. By stopping a tanker headed to China it can pull China into the war too. Spice things up even more.

This is the same Navy that's been murdering survivors of fishing boats they claim are hauling drugs, right? The reality is likely that we will never know the truth.

The thing is from a logistics standpoint do we have enough ships, trained boarding parties, and places to put these big ass ships to make a real dent in shipping? Also, what happens after we take possession of a ship, I assume we still need the crew to move it wherever we want to put it while not being able to leave a squad of soldiers on board to ensure it goes where we want it to. It seems that this is an unsustainable tactic.

I’m pretty sure I read about the situation with Venezuelan ships and that it was a logistical and financial nightmare to care for the ships they seized.

Seizing these vessels does give you another headache, and you don't get to keep the stuff or charge storage fees.

Didn’t they do this with Venezuelan ships and it turned out some of them were empty and that all of them cost a fortune to hold and maintain making it a mess?
