On Tuesday he lifts the blockade.

ButtonholePhotophile Apr 12, 2026 +463
Tuesday afternoon it turns into two-for-one ice cream sundaes, then at 4 he reinstates the blockade, then shuts it down again at 4:20 just because.

Please, by Thursday he'll be screaming about nuking the strait.
13
Acceptable-Bus-2017 Apr 12, 2026 +10
Tehran. He can't nuke the strait because as much as he likes to pretend otherwise, it needs to be open for the health of the global economy.
10
Xszit Apr 13, 2026 +5
plus Dubai is right there and you know he respects a people with all that bling bling, so he won't mess with them just based on the fact that he might want to ask about building a Trump Tower there one day.
5
spicychickenandranch Apr 13, 2026 +3
Ah yes, the two-for-one special
3
jarena009 Apr 12, 2026 +159
Prediction: there will be no blockade. Iran will continue to let 10-15 ships through per day at their discretion (eg Chinese ships), but Trump will claim we control the Strait nonetheless, and eventually declare victory in a week or two. We essentially don't have the capability to get close enough to the Strait to enforce a blockade.
159
quats555 Apr 12, 2026 +97
He declares victory about every 3 to 4 days, regardless of what’s actually happening. Other than that I believe you are correct.
97
Knowledge_is_Bliss Apr 12, 2026 +16
Yeah, he already "won" a few times over the last few weeks.

At what point does the US start to demilitarise? The enormous amount of military spending doesn’t seem to do anything.

Theres not a will currently to use it to its fullest (thankfully).

A legit question at least since the Department of Defense failed to prevent the 9/11 attacks.
3
KimbaXO Apr 12, 2026 +9
Or they could do a “special blockade” for Trump like the special awards they make people give him to get access. He’ll believe it because it’s good for him, he declares victory and we all go home.

Because weak people issue ultimatums. He doesn’t actually know how to negotiate, so he pouts.
219
Bamboozleprime Apr 12, 2026 +128
He has 3 options 1. Make a deal with Iran on Iran’s terms 2. Deploy the vast majority of US military to secure the strait and accept losses on the counts of tens of thousands and probably the biggest global destabilization since WW2 3. Yell and rant on Truth Social So far he’s only doing #3
128
abofh Apr 13, 2026 +44
And remember #2 threatens China's oil supply - there's a very good chance they just break both blockades and dare the world to shoot at them.
44
koshawk Apr 13, 2026 +11
Indeed, what if Chinese ships show up with PLAN e****** Then what?
11
aldernon Apr 13, 2026 +28
The 4th option, and probably the best potential outcome for the US, is the classic ‘resign and receive a Presidential pardon from JD Vance; then have Vance make a somewhat less friendly deal with Iran, since booting Trump was one of the concessions’ which feels like a likely reason Iran wanted to negotiate with Vance. Obviously that’s not really an option Trump the Pedobear would consider though.

And that's literally as far back as Trump supporters' memory of him goes. You ask them about what they know of him before that, and they honestly don't know. He's some NYC real estate mogul who made a name for himself, and that's about it.

Are we blocking Chinese ships? What the f*** are we thinking?
591
gunner_penguin Apr 12, 2026 +467
Right? What happens if China just sends one of their ships through. No way we sink that. That’s the path right to WW3
467
Spire_Citron Apr 12, 2026 +200
Exactly. How do you stop them? You'd have to be willing to use lethal force. That'd be quite an international incident if you attacked a ship from a country the US isn't currently in conflict with.
200
cheesebrah Apr 12, 2026 +154
Ya sinking a commercial ship carrying oil is not good for anyone. Also the other option siezing it is just as bad.
154
Acceptable-Bus-2017 Apr 13, 2026 +27
What would they do if they seized it? Sail it all the way to the US? They'd have to e***** it. We would officially be a pirate country. Wouldn't we be the baddies?
27
Ultra_Ginger Apr 13, 2026 +25
I have been hearing that commercial Iranian/Chinese ships are carrying rpgs on them to prevent being boarded and seized after seeing it happen to Venezuelan oil ships. It creates an impossible situation for the US with an insanely high chance of losing a helicopter full of troops while hovering over the deck of the ship/repeling down and seizing it.
25
P4t13nt_z3r0 Apr 13, 2026 +16
An impossible situation for the US that we voluntarily put ourselves in. 5D checkers going on.
16
Visual_Collapse Apr 13, 2026 +10
>We would officially be a pirate country Aren't you already?
10
Sharp_Economy1401 Apr 13, 2026 +6
>Wouldn't we be the baddies? Too late for us to not be there. But yeah, that would drive things to a far worse state to provoke China. I'm sure they're already on edge enough with tariffs and how erratic our country's behavior has been recently. I'm so tired of this c***. These are leadership instincts of a broken teenager, at best

11
Lone_Vagrant Apr 13, 2026 +6
Only way to stop a ship in international waters would be to fire on them or board them.
6
linh_nguyen Apr 13, 2026 +6
I feel like we've already kicked off that WW3 path....
6
ghostbannomore Apr 13, 2026 +3
Would be hugely embarrassing for China to directly do something like it.
3
PhortKnight Apr 13, 2026 +9
US entered both of the world wars because of someone sinking ships or ours...
9
kstargate-425 Apr 12, 2026 +85
Trump threw a tantrum and literally said "if all ships can't traverse the Strait, No ships can". So the equivalent of "I'm taking my ball home and you can't play". He's gonna TACO when China, KSA, UAE and others start giving him shit because they can't import/export things. Thats besides the fact that stopping ships traversing legally in international waters is illegal and extremely fucked but we know he doesn't care much about legality
85
clegg2011 Apr 13, 2026 +8
To be a legal blockade Chinese ships would be included as part of the impartially enforced requirement.
8
HenshiniPrime Apr 13, 2026 +4
He did say they will hunt down any ships who have passed through by paying a toll as well.
4
ledgerdomian Apr 13, 2026 +7
Lots of posts around this, but not a single mention of…how exactly, do you know which ships have paid a toll? I dunno, maybe they’ll fly a toll flag, or helpfully confirm via twitter before leaving port….
7
VanCityPhotoNewbie Apr 13, 2026 +8
If we block any ships from any country, it would be detrimental to US relations....not just by a little. Iran has no relations with any country in the world. But if they start playing the card "Hey Japan, we wanted to let your ship go through, but the US took it over. Sorry the USA is holding your energy hostage"... it would be a relations nightmare
8
calonto Apr 13, 2026 +4
No, just European.
4
fxkatt Apr 13, 2026 +10
The blockade would be an outright act of war--and an end to the ceasefire.
10
elyfantman Apr 12, 2026 +300
I will start a war to reopen the Strait which was already open before my war and I will do it by using a blockade to stop their blockade.
300
Zeta-2-Reticuli Apr 13, 2026 +88
they also want to secure a nuclear deal we already had
88
splendiferous-finch_ Apr 13, 2026 +15
And threaten them with nukes....the thing we claim they will do to us if we let them continue.
15
queefburritowcheese Apr 13, 2026 +21
And mind you, Iran has been totally and utterly defeated, everything destroyed ... but they still hold martial power over the strait.
21
elyfantman Apr 13, 2026 +27
And this gem: Hegseth noted that "the only thing prohibiting transit in the straits right now is Iran shooting at shipping," adding, "It is open for transit should Iran not do that".

48
Wavelightning Apr 12, 2026 +46
Hormuz has been closed since Feb28, were nearing the 3 month line that causes ripple effects throughout the economy. Look around wherever you are. The paint on your walls. The shrink wrap on your food. The fertilizer that grew that food. That’s all stuck on ships right now in the Gulf not moving. If you think $5 gas is bad, wait till everything else does the same thing or worse. Think of it as a manufactured supply crisis worse than COVID, which was a steep drop in demand (and supply of TP). People forget that the market can go down and stay down for YEARS and stuff like this is why. And those in charge clearly don’t give a flying f***.
46
myburdentobear Apr 13, 2026 +41
I can't remember the person's name but I heard an economist describe Trump's presidency as just a series of massive supply shocks that are poised to completely screw us. Global tariffs, mass deportation of low wage labor, international tourism tanking, this dumb war. All happening in basically his first year. People much smarter than me are saying things are going to get REALLY bad. God help us if he actually gets his way with the Federal Reserve.
41
pcpelste Apr 13, 2026 +11
Yep. The supply chain shock hasn’t been felt yet.

78
GaryLifts Apr 12, 2026 +12
I don’t like Trump in the slightest - but it’s clear he thinks that stopping Irans ships or those paying Iran from coming through will strangle their funding an force them to the table. I don’t think he’s correct and if anything it will piss off allies even more, but it’s not like it’s completely devoid of logic.
12
Fulham-Enjoyer Apr 12, 2026 +17
I see what you’re saying, there is some logic to it, but it’s only surface-level. He must be hoping that no one calls his bluff, because the consequences of boarding or firing on a Chinese tanker that tries to break the blockade would be much much worse than anything that’s happened so far.
17
StormyPassages Apr 12, 2026 +9
DJT's "logic" in closing the strait of Hormuz is that he enjoys stealing 8.3 billion people's gas money. And there's perks in that it's an Epstein distraction, an ICE murder distraction, and a direct way of repaying his oldest donor--Putin--but the thrill of the theft itself is the logic that motivates DJT.
9
Skylarking77 Apr 12, 2026 +6
Most things are not devoid of logic if you are allowed to invent your own reality.
6
ViveLaFrance94 Apr 12, 2026 +18
Nah, it’s just dumb full stop. He could end this right now, but he is too arrogant.
18
Horse_HorsinAround Apr 13, 2026 +4
None of them involveds goal is to end it, it's to make a profit money or otherwise Of course if the agressor stopped agressing would work
4
BlackArchon Apr 13, 2026 +6
Nah he is idiotic as hell. He closed the strait, and it's been days that all the countries in the Middle East are buying a fuckton of trucks to bring oil with the land route. A recent giant traffic jam between Iraq and Syria did confirm that. Sure, it's a trickle compared to ships, but the idea that Iran would stop exports because the Strait is blocked is nuts.
6
dontrike Apr 12, 2026 +5
The only reason they're able to do this now is because Israel commanded him to do this. Had he not attacked at all they wouldn't be able to do this. He could stop it, but his need to seem strong and tough won't let him. He's physically, and mentally, incapable of stopping himself
5
cucci_mane1 Apr 12, 2026 +26
Trump really sucks as potus. Worst president in US history by far.
26

37
10000000000000000091 Apr 12, 2026 +21
Aren’t these illegal orders? This is another act of war carried out by the agressor.
21
Odd-Row9485 Apr 12, 2026 +38
Legality of orders and following them or not is much more complex than the black and white situation everyone makes it out to be. If the orders are in fact illegal and one chooses not to follow them then they can do that. But they will also be court marshalled and sent to lock up until they are either A. Found guilty or B. The orders in which they were issued are found to be illegal and thy are let free. But no matter what the person is risking their career, their safety and so much more over something that most likely is not going to end in their favour. This isn’t Hollywood and you can’t just ignore orders and say checkmate then drive off into the sunset.
38
10000000000000000091 Apr 12, 2026 +8
It seems like the incentives are lined up to stop people from not following an order even if they feel strongly that it is illegal.

Yo dawg, I heard you like blockades, so we're going to put a blockade on your blockade and now everyone is effed in the a.
8
BiggieMoe01 Apr 12, 2026 +25
So how does this work? We open the strait of Hormuz by blocking the strait of Hormuz? Anyways, TACO by Tuesday.
25
Dunbaratu Apr 12, 2026 +7
Enforcing a blockade means shooting another country's ship when it tries to go through. Firing on a Chinese cargo ship for example, which would start war with China. I do not believe for a second even someone as dumb as Trump actually wants to do that. I suspect this is going to be another TACO stock market manipulation. (Get people to sell off stocks in companies that need passage through the strait to do well. Then have your cronies buy those stocks because they're getting the insider information that it's a bluff, then go back on what you said. Now his cronies own a bigger percentage of the pie than before, on the c****. He's done this pattern before.)

This is how you know the deep state is washed. A more competent CIA would've already offended Trump like they did Kennedy, I can't believe this tertiary syphilitic troglodyte has been allowed to molest the money to this degree.

GOP meanwhile just continuing to look the other way as their leader gives zero craps about federal laws, the constitution or international laws. People need to actually show up to vote in midterms and 2028 to throw these clowns out of office and begin the long process of repairing the country and our reputation

Only a few days ago, Little Lord Orange Farquaad threatened to annihilate Iran if they didn't release their hold on the Strait of Hormuz. A 2 week ceasefire was agreed to. Less than 1 week later Trump is now threatening to annihilate the global economy by imposing a full blockade on the Strait of Hormuz. This isn't 4D chess. It's sheer lunacy fueled by ego. Feel free to repeal the 25th amendment because if this doesn't meet the requirements, nothing else will.

Suppose China makes a deal with Iran for safe passage. Is the US going to fire on a Chinese ship??? No, because our POTUS is a chickenshit TACO and everybody but his braindead fans knows it. The US government is a joke. Edit 2 hours later: >The U.S. military said on Sunday that it would blockade any ships “entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas,” but said it would allow other ships to transit the Strait of Hormuz, ***hours after President Trump had said the United States would fully block the economically vital waterway***. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/04/12/world/iran-war-trump-talks-pakistan/heres-the-latest?smid=url-share 🌮🌮🌮

So what happens if China decides to throw their weight around? No way the US attacks. Such a scenario would just make America look even weaker than it already does.

I predict Trump will start charging a hefty fee to allow a ship through the straight but no one will pay it for fear if being blown up by the Iranians and also because they don't like Trump. After a few days of receiving no fee, Trump will angrily jack up the tariffs on countries who refused to pay it which in turn will very quickly cause prices on imports in the US to go up. The price of non-imported goods will then opportunistically be raised. Again.

China should just line up like 10 of their tankers and say “Hey, we’re coming through”. What’s he going to do - fire on Chinese ships?

So to counter Iran closing the Strait, the US is...also closing the strait? Some "You can't fire me, I quit!" type shit
2
meatsmoothie82 Apr 13, 2026 +2
Ok so the global economy and millions of human lives are hinging on a game of “Blocksies double blocksies“ What are we doing as a society to let these people run the world?
2
Chheaky Apr 13, 2026 +2
Ah I see. So there are concepts of a blockade.
2
jebei Apr 13, 2026 +2
If I'm China I send a ship through and dare the US to stop it. Is the US going to board a Chinese ship? Are they willing to sink it? The reason the blockade is working for Iran is people worry they'll go through with their threat. Trump is crazy but is he that crazy? I highly doubt it as he knows what it would do to world markets.

How about the US just fucks off out of all of this? They caused this problem! All they have to do is stop. Leave Iran alone. Leave the Middle East alone! The whole world is being impacted by this bullshit war that had no objective in the first place!
