Only way to stop a ship in international waters would be to fire on them or board them.

Hormuz has been closed since Feb28, were nearing the 3 month line that causes ripple effects throughout the economy. Look around wherever you are. The paint on your walls. The shrink wrap on your food. The fertilizer that grew that food. That’s all stuck on ships right now in the Gulf not moving. If you think $5 gas is bad, wait till everything else does the same thing or worse. Think of it as a manufactured supply crisis worse than COVID, which was a steep drop in demand (and supply of TP). People forget that the market can go down and stay down for YEARS and stuff like this is why. And those in charge clearly don’t give a flying f***.

I see what you’re saying, there is some logic to it, but it’s only surface-level. He must be hoping that no one calls his bluff, because the consequences of boarding or firing on a Chinese tanker that tries to break the blockade would be much much worse than anything that’s happened so far.

DJT's "logic" in closing the strait of Hormuz is that he enjoys stealing 8.3 billion people's gas money. And there's perks in that it's an Epstein distraction, an ICE murder distraction, and a direct way of repaying his oldest donor--Putin--but the thrill of the theft itself is the logic that motivates DJT.

Most things are not devoid of logic if you are allowed to invent your own reality.

Nah he is idiotic as hell. He closed the strait, and it's been days that all the countries in the Middle East are buying a fuckton of trucks to bring oil with the land route. A recent giant traffic jam between Iraq and Syria did confirm that. Sure, it's a trickle compared to ships, but the idea that Iran would stop exports because the Strait is blocked is nuts.

The only reason they're able to do this now is because Israel commanded him to do this. Had he not attacked at all they wouldn't be able to do this. He could stop it, but his need to seem strong and tough won't let him. He's physically, and mentally, incapable of stopping himself

Legality of orders and following them or not is much more complex than the black and white situation everyone makes it out to be. If the orders are in fact illegal and one chooses not to follow them then they can do that. But they will also be court marshalled and sent to lock up until they are either A. Found guilty or B. The orders in which they were issued are found to be illegal and thy are let free. But no matter what the person is risking their career, their safety and so much more over something that most likely is not going to end in their favour. This isn’t Hollywood and you can’t just ignore orders and say checkmate then drive off into the sunset.
