There is nothing more permanent than a temporary price hike.

Yup! remember all those extra baggage fees the airlines adopted during another oil crisis? They were supposed to be temporary too.

Exactly, this ain't our first rodeo. And to anyone that wasn't aware before, after all that "goodwill" given to companies for prices during COVID with the "shipping" issues, they sure are now.

I thought they were going all electric.

Bingo. The federal government should not have gotten in the way of USPS’s move to a fleet with a higher percentage of EVs.

They were going to go mostly electric, yes keeping a percentage of the fleet fuel fired for very remote areas etc, and our local has an almost all electric fleet with a totally redone parking lot full of chargers. But yeah, the trumpists decided electricity is the devil so effed up that deal to some degree that I can't even remember now.

Ha, I work in a federal building that was completed during the pandemic. The parking garage had a section of EV chargers put in as part of the construction. This administration enforced RTO and disabled those chargers (mind you, employees had to pay for the electricity just like any other charger.)

Still though. Hand deliver a message to my cousin 1800 miles away for under a dollar isn’t bad.

opusupo Mar 26, 2026 +1

Chanting to the wrong crowd, the Red Hats are all parrotting, "small price to pay for Peace in the Middle East and protect MERICA."
1
Darth-mickyluv Mar 26, 2026 +1
It's a price he's willing for you to pay.

They are a service they are not supposed to make money. It's like our military it's a loss but a good one because it works.
2
dominarhexx Mar 26, 2026 +1
Does the military work in its current state?

Texadad Mar 25, 2026 +1
There is nothing temporary about price hikes. This isn’t scooner tuna.

brithus Mar 25, 2026 +1
Why dont they give USPS a bailout like everyone else? Oh right, no $$ in that for the Greedy Obstructionist Party and its Grifter in Chief

Keshire Mar 25, 2026 +1
End it. Let conservatives find out what happens when checks bounce and bills never arrive because there's no postal service and they refuse to do any of it digitally.

Temporary, my foot.

geekstone Mar 26, 2026 +1
So Amazon is going to raise prices by 8% because of how much the Post Office is their last mile. So tired of all this winning.

GoneSilent Mar 26, 2026 +1
But I thought the Postal service was trying the bankrupt itself?
