its very hard to be researcher in a country who thinks the very subject you are researching, is not existing and just an "woke conspiracy" and "socialist hoax". just like being a microbiologist, when everyone arounds you thinks that germs doesnt exist, or studying evolution when your environment believes in creationism... i guess the US is working on that. but its good they find a place where their skills are valued more. because climate change will hit everyone of us, no matter if you believe in it or not.

The brain drain is real. Trump's gift to the world is the American scientists who have allowed America to be a leader in science, research and technology finding better countries to support.

I think in around a years time he will have lost a hell of a lot of influence. Most people that follow him are spineless and will bend over backwards to further their goals, that includes fleeing a sinking ship and trump will be happy to play the victim against them.

Of all the issues the majority Americans stubbornly refuse to give a f*** about, this is the issue they refuse to give a f*** about the most, and given that the issue involves our collective ability to survive on this planet, perhaps we should collectively consider giving more of a f*** about it and encouraging the people in our lives to do the same. And to anyone tempted to reply to this with “People Care,” 11/5/24 showed us otherwise, and there’s no takes-backsies there.

Well... that's part of it. The number of banned words in research is so absurdly large (for example the word "women") that you basically can't do any research in the US right now, unless you are working on new ways to make money while destroying the environment.

If all of the smart people leave, Orange Cartman won't have to answer those pesky questions. What could possibly go wrong. Quiet, piggy.

If my smooth brain could figure out how to move to another country and still work in my field, I would have been gone years ago
