So technically they are following the rule of law. However the law allows once again for a special select few to circumvent almost all other laws.

DACA was never law. It was an executive order that President Obama issued and he even admitted that he wasn’t sure of the constitutionality of that executive order when he signed it.
It takes years to become an US citizen. I know for a fact given both my mother and my aunt had to go through the whole process.
The media had no problem when President Obama deported people out of the US, but all of sudden it is considered racist when President Trump does it when he occupies the White House.

It isn't the law. It is discretionary. Absent a law saying otherwise, the Executive Branch has broad discretion on where to focus the resources of federal agencies. That is how there were deferrals for people brought here as kids, among others.
It is an entirely unfair system that lets certain groups/people get away with violating immigration laws while punishing others who are targeted by the administration, not just in this administration but in every one since at least Clinton. Wet foot dry foot, for Cuban immigrants, is another (now no longer active) example of this discretion, by the way

Also how are they supposed to stay here for 3 years if they are getting deported for being undocumented first?

4
madlabsci163 days ago
+9
Military members stationed in the US receive BAH (basic allowance for housing). It's a tax free stipend to pay their rent, utilities, etc.
When they move overseas on orders, they don't keep a household in the US. The military moves their household to their new duty station where they either live on post/base or on the economy using their BAH. They may also receive a cost of living allowance (COLA).
If the military member deploys, the spouse continues to stay in their housing. Military members deploying continue to get their same pay and allowances. If they deploy to a war zone, they may also receive additional pay such as hazard pay, imminent danger pay, etc. All pay in a warzone is also tax free.
As for your last question, I have no idea. I luckily got out a long time ago.

Is it a law or an EO though. If it is an EO, or just an administrative priority passed down to ICE, then the President has the authority to change it. As much as I hate Trump, every President in recent history has used EOs and the right to set agency priorities to affect immigration policy without laws being passed by Congress, which has been hopelessly deadlocked on immigration policy for decades.
1
say5923 days ago
+2
It's long established administrative policy. You are correct that they can change it, but they generally have to communicate that the policy is being changed, not just arbitrarily change what they are doing with no notice. At a certain point, administrative policy becomes engrained enough that if it isn't being applied evenly, or if they suddenly stop applying it, there is legal recourse under the Equal Protection clause.
2

That whole "don't follow illegal orders" thing and the oath they swore? Total lies, just said for PR purposes.
Source: I saw the military willingly refuse to act against those who directly stole highly classified nuclear secrets. I saw them willingly murder civilians and violate their own rules of war. I saw them refuse to publicly condemn *any* of that.
Any soldier wants to prove me wrong? Publicly condemn any of the *existing violations* of their own rules on war crimes. Do it Publicly. Call out who ordered it.

By no means am I a "voting is the most important thing imaginable" type guy, and the odds that it will actually *work* seem slim. I'd also disclose, in fairness, that I'm rather opposed to the American empire in the first place.
But if we want to get out of this predicament - that in a two-party state we have one outright fascist party and one "literally everyone else" party - the only off-road I see that is both faintly possible and non-violent is primarying establishment Dem leadership with candidates who genuinely want electoral reform instead of just the status quo.
I just don't see any way that the Republicans do not outright seize power sometime in the next twenty years or so if they are not broken now. Even if Trump kicks it tomorrow, Vance gets voted out, and some milquetoast lib gets the presidency, they're going to do all this shit again but with an actually competent charismatic demagogue. Currently the only thing that's stopping them is that their electoral support is based on a cult following of one extremely senile and narcissistic man. But the factors that made so many Americans so stupid, gullible, and malleable by populists are only getting worse. Education has been sliding downhill for years - the youth are not coming to save us.
Of course, quite literally 2/3rds (if not more) of the population are basically incapable of reading at beyond an 8th grade level, and their numeracy is worse, so concepts like "IRV" are a tough sell. After twelve years of this shit, I will not be fooled into trusting the American public again. Hope for the best, advocate, preach on the streets, offer rides to get people out to the polls - but don't expect much.

Thanks to the disinformation and misinformation campaign from the right wing media which is the sole source of information for over 60% of the population, people were misled into voting against their own interests. Meanwhile trump successfully coerced the remaining fairly impartial news media such as CNS, NBC and now CNN with the help of his billionaire friends.

This is why people need to start allowing alternate voting systems like RCV or approval votes.
The DNC would die or move left in a hurry if people didn't feel like any vote not for RNC or DNC candidate is wasted. There's plenty of open ideological ground that they could win on if they actually represented worker interests, and with a more open electoral system, SOMEONE would stake that space out, and get those votes.
Only as long as we continue predominantly using simple majority votes can the Dems continue this strategy of following the Republican lead on the Overton window. And the federal government doesn't run elections, so if you genuinely want a non-binary electoral outcome, work locally to change the mechanism in your state, county, or city.
