Access has been restored until the midterms are over.
It's a good thing that the SCOTUS isn’t political.

They killed Roe v Wade before Midterms, and that blew up in their faces.
At least until the Mad King was restored to his throne.

Ok? What about the other part you’re not exploring: if they do it after the midterms they don’t have to worry about the outrage turnout, which would get people off their couch and voting.

They know better than to publish their Draconian decisions before an election. Look what happened after Roe was overturned - the Dems got way more seats in congress than they were expected to before the decision was handed down.
No, they're going to wait until the R's are out of danger, then hand down another fundamentalist decree.
Disgusting.

Yeah, but they’ll just keep state laws that restrict and punish anyone involved with prescribing or taking mifepristone. They never should have overturned Roe; look how many people have died that shouldn’t have because they couldn’t access this type of medical care. This timeline sucks.

It really is very upsetting and if we ever get out from under conservative control, it will take decades to recover from the damage of Dobbs.

For now. It seems any thing they do is just for now until it’s overturned. Repeat Begin again. What’s the point of laws then. Today it’s good. Tomorrow bad. 9 men said it. Or 5 or 3 or 1. Leave it up to the peoples vote. Oh. Nope. Overturned For now. Good grief

everyone should get the pills online through a telehealth provider and stick that shit into your fridge. i did this when trump got reelected, bought 3 sets of the 2 pills in case i or someone close to me needed them. i am in a super blue state but you never f****** know at this point. i encourage everyone to do this while you can, it could save a life.

This was less important than the election. Once they own all elections they can revisit this decision.

This issue has basically become one of the biggest political and cultural dividing lines in America now. No matter what side people are on, you can tell emotions run extremely high because people see it as either a healthcare rights issue or a moral issue. What’s crazy is how much of the national conversation now gets shaped by court decisions instead of Congress actually solving anything long term. Every few months it feels like the country is holding its breath waiting for another ruling. The reactions online are probably going to be absolute chaos for the next 24 hours

> now gets shaped by court decisions instead of congress
This was the GOP talking point about Roe vs Wade for years, that Dobbs “returned” the issue of abortion to the states.
The problem is, Roe’s partial protection for abortion was grounded in *due process rights* to medical privacy. In Dobbs, SCOTUS claimed its ruling applies only narrowly to abortion, but their reasoning cut at the foundation of privacy rights and substantive due process itself.
Consistent application of Dobbs allows for states to ban contraceptives, gay marriage, and even interracial marriage, all of which are legally underpinned by substantive due process rights. Short of constitutional amendment, Dobbs erodes rights that no legislature can adequately protect in law. The whole idea of a right is that states cannot trample them.

Not to mention the pursuit across state lines violating citizen's rights of free movement and this idea a state can subject its citizens to its sovereignty while under another state's jurisdiction.

It's a healthcare issue AND a moral issue. Denying people basic healthcare is amoral.
