Trump turned our backs on the Kurds who helped us in the Middle East and literally left them to be slaughtered and now telling Afghani's either go back to have your wives and children raped and sold before your eyes for helping us or go to prison indefinitely in Africa and possibly be sold as slaves there. No one will ever help Americans again as another Trump can get in office and either expose you worked with the CIA because they leave documents in an unlocked bathroom or change policy and leave them hanging. What an absolute shitshow

Who could have guessed you can't trust a guy who steals from his own charity

junkyard_robot 18 hr ago +72
It wasn't just stealing. That makes it sound like he just wrote checks to himself or one of his made up LLCs for organizing an event that didn't happen. He f****** wrote a check to the Boy Scouts for Eric's fees of iirc $11. He claimed and claims to be a billionaire, and he couldn't cut a personal check for Boy Scout fees under $20 for his kid to participate, and instead wrote a check from his cancer charity. I'm not wealthy, but $11 is basically nothing to me. I tip my bartenders $11 most of the time on a $25 tab.

Couch_dreams 17 hr ago +11
Why are you tipping $11 most of the time on a $25 tab?

He cant do it every time. He isnt made of money like that

For all his faults Trump was far from the president who “started us on this path”. Bush senior abandoned the Shia and Kurd uprisings in Iraq in 1991 after publicly encouraging resistance against Saddam in the wake of the Gulf War. Clinton abandoned Somalia and refused to intervene in the Rwanda Genocide. Bush junior somehow managed to alienate every single faction of every conflict in the ME. Obama set a red line on chemical weapon use and then proceeded to do nothing while Assad bombed and gassed Syrians. Biden failed to accelerate visas for Afghans employed by the US even as he accelerated US withdrawal. US foreign policy hasn’t been aligned with our values as a country for a long time now, and that is a reflection of what we voters view as important as much as the actions of a single president.

FinancialReserve6427 17 hr ago +26
didn't Biden moved the withdrawal to give the Afghans more time to prepare? republicans called him a warhawk for being allergic to peace.  if you mean the US left before the deadline because the Taliban (that Trump freed) attacked and the Afghan army didn't even put up a fight, sure.

aloudasian 17 hr ago +8
~9.5k visas issued in 2019, ~8k visas issued in 2020, ~10k issued in 2021, with 70 to 80k applicants left behind when the US withdrew. The withdrawal agreement was signed in Feb. 2020. https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/R43725

to be fair, f****** over the Kurds is just tradition.

Significant_Cup_238 17 hr ago +13
Sadly, this is far from the first time the US has totally fucked over people who have put their lives on the line supporting our objectives. The poor Kurds keep getting the "Fell for it again" award.

Our soft power has been flushed down the toilet, thanks to this administration. And I suspect this creates more terrorists. When you do things like destroy USAID, it really shouldn't come as a surprise that people will want revenge on the U.S.
56
TranquilSeaOtter 18 hr ago +23
Desperate people do desperate things. It's not even a matter of revenge. If your choice is be a pirate or starve, you end up with a situation like Somalia.
23
breadandbunny 13 hr ago +3
That is true.
3
Ididntdodiddly 17 hr ago -26
Oh the horrors. USAID won't be able to fund fraud like kick back schemes and sending aid to terrorists who sell it on the black market. What ever will we do now
-26
scotchtree 16 hr ago +5
You think USAID was the extent of America’s soft power?

This has been the US way for decades. It started before Kennedy abandoned the group at the Bay of Pigs and has been going on since then.
7
ruffianrevolution 10 hr ago +1
The only reason americans are bothered now is because it's finally happening to americans too.
1
Whipitreelgud 10 hr ago +1
Ridiculous. Governments can do things a minority of people don’t agree with.

In thos context there's never been a shortage of people willing to risk everything for a promise from USA. There's no strategic reason to keep the promise

>Afghans have been going through the base for processing while seeking to move to the United States, fearing persecution by the Taliban for having worked with US forces before they withdrew and the Western-backed government collapsed in 2021. Bruh only the US could have the “balls” to spit in the faces of the people that risked death to help them.

HolaDrNick 17 hr ago +33
>Bruh only the US could have the “balls” to spit in the faces of the people that risked death to help them. You think European countries haven't done this? You must not know a lot about France and Mali.

No_Accountant3232 16 hr ago +16
France and Vietnam is my favorite quagmire. Mostly because it led to the US and Vietnam. Abandoned twice by two different countries
16
seiryuu-abi 14 hr ago +12
I haven’t seen French people on Facebook laughing and bragging about it, nor French people on Twitter being glad over something like Elon Musk DOGE-ing and doxing a man who worked for the Taliban… in the 1990s before 9/11 happened and he switched to providing intel to the US. I’m under no illusions that many countries use groups for their own gain. I’m sure there are French extremists who would laugh at such a thing but it’s disgusting how many people irl are supporting throwing the Afghans who helped them under the bus.

Not just the US, the UK is going that way too. You should see the daily immigration and asylum seeker posts on UK subs.

yeah americans. the most unamerican people doing this. the repubs and trump the traitors of the usa who work for russia. not us normal folk who voted against it. but thanks for tearing us down for no reason.
1
Careful_Bat7757 17 hr ago +2
Man, if only there was someway of determining whether the majority of Americans are for something. Maybe like an election or something perhaps.
2
amateurbreditor 16 hr ago -5
You realize the level of ignorance you are displaying right? I me an its hardly worth my time explaining how 1/3 of americans voted for this? Thats not a majority of the population. I mean jesus.. you arent here to be smart you are just trying to put people down. go away.

I’d love for conservatives to explain how this is not pure racism. Those people are not criminals, they came in legally, and they helped the US. They have no reason to be deported according to Trump himself, so what’s the point if not removing brown people?

It’s so tiring how so much of our politics lately comes down to this: our big strongman alpha president got personally offended over some dumb shit so now we have to deal with more drama.

I don’t really understand the purpose of the 3rd party deportation process. My conception has been if your native country won’t take you then America pays another country to accept deportees. Here’s my problem Congo accepts the Afghans…and then what? El Salvador incarcerated their deportees, talk was it was America paid for a year of incarceration. Then what, are they supposed to be granted asylum and be resettled. The Afghans if resettled in the Congo would have problems being assimilated, especially if settled in refugee camps. Pakistan would have been a much better choice. That’s a better choice but it’s obviously not the answer to my question, what happens after they’re removed from the United States.
