Won't be so funny when someone gets an itchy trigger finger and sparks WW3.

Well Iran is blockading the straits. America is blockading the blockade. So maybe China should blockade the blockade the blockade.

Yeah, nothing like flirting with a naval confrontation in a major oil chokepoint during an election year. This is how gas hits $8. At minimum, people should be calling reps asking where the authorization is.

Iran said “Enjoy the current pump figures. With the so-called ‘blockade’, soon you’ll be nostalgic for $4–$5 gas."

Iran will say anything to make this bloackde go away because this hurts iranian economy too. However it hurts us as well. The world is very fluid, oil tankers have started to get oil from alternative sources except Asian countries which were highly dependent on the gulf. Saudi has been using its Yanbu pipeline as much as possible and UAE is also using its pipeline into Oman to bypass Hormuz. All in all, yes we will be paying a lot for gas but I don't expect it to go extremely high

Iran is used to blockades, we are not.

If that's true then why are they posting propaganda about high prices? Oil exports have been the main source of income for Iran. They will get hurt too, don't believe everything you see online. They need to pay their soldiers somehow

“Except Asian countries” is a pretty big caveat though when they account for 1/3rd of global oil consumption. The alternatives being leveraged by other countries to soften the problem, are only effective until China and others have no choice but to buy from those same alternatives too, causing a bidding war that will drive up the price for everyone relatively equally. Unless there’s altruistic oil companies with that will sell their oil at reduced profit to your country instead of China.

Good news is that it can’t go any higher than $9.99.

Really? Why? As someone who remembers when gas broke the $1 barrier, I can say that dealers can get creative if they need to.

MAGA is making the whole world Great™️ I see. So much winning!
Only have to blow up a few thousand more people and trump will get us right back to where we started. Mission Accomplished ✔️ endless wars in the Middle East to satiate the appetite of the military industrial complex.

This is a terrible proposal, it's going to leave US troops as sitting ducks for.... How long? Forever?
You don't have to be Nostradamus to see how this could go sideways. Then again maybe that's something he'd like so he can escalate while playing the victim?

oil futures about to have a week. hormuz is like 20% of global seaborne crude, you can't really "blockade" around that without the whole market feeling it. hope everyone enjoyed c**** gas while it lasted tbh

Tariffs make everything cheaper. If they didn’t why would Trump have put them on every country.
