I'm looking forward to the entirely different conclusions reached from this negotiation in the media.

“America agrees to turn over 1000 random Americans as payment to Iran.”

Isn't "sacrificing 1000 americans a day to please the stock market" the current reality ?

“ Iran not able to find any US detainees”

>At least six Americans are believed to be held, though the identities of all of them have not been made public. >Here is what is known about those at the centre of the potential release deal: >Two of the US citizens being detained, Kamran Hekmati, 61, and Reza Valizadeh, 49, were in Evin Prison, a notorious complex in Tehran that holds thousands of prisoners, including many held on political charges, the Post noted. I'm shocked this hasn't been presented more to the US public at large. I've heard virtually nothing in regards to these 6 individuals. >Valizadeh, the journalist with US govt-funded channel >Reza Valizadeh is serving a 10-year sentence. He worked as a reporter for [Radio Farda](https://www.rferl.org/a/iran-farda-journalist-valizadeh-prison/33239877.html), the Persian-language service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, which is a US government-funded broadcaster. He became a US citizen in 2022. Valizadeh was arrested by the IRGC and sentenced in December 2024 to 10 years in prison on charges of “collaborating with a hostile government”. His appeal was rejected in January 2025. and >Kamran Hekmati is a Jewish Iranian-American who emigrated to the United States after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, and built a life in Great Neck, New York, running a jewellery [business ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kamran-hekmati-a8209375/)in Manhattan. >In July 2025, he travelled to Iran to visit family. When he tried to leave through Tehran's airport, authorities confiscated his passport. He was arrested two months later. >The charge against him is related to an Iranian law that prohibits its citizens from visiting Israel. Hekmati has argued he'd done so 13 years earlier, to attend his son's bar mitzvah. He was then charged a second time in December, accused of having met with agents of Israeli spies from the Mossad abroad.

That brings some clarity. My first thought was that American casualties and captured prisoners from the attacks was being kept from us in the states. It’s the first I’ve heard that they have Americans in prison, politically or otherwise.

ryancementhead 1 day ago +16
With this administration, they’ll get them released, bring them home, then ICE will detain them and maybe deport them back.
16
GoneSilent 1 day ago +2
Funny that, I'm sure many of the unnamed are people who emigrated to the United States as well. One side of the US gov fights to deport them and another side of the US gov fights to return them?
2
AnonEMoussie 1 day ago +1
See that’s what we are led to believe. Actually they are detaining them indefinitely in prisons outside our country.

Not to victim-blame, but for a few of those I don't understand how they thought going back would be safe.

Even_Trifle9341 17 hr ago +1
Maybe being on the wrong side of mossad would be less safe.

Australia had this problem when one of our academics went to Tehran and got arrested by the IRGC and thrown in jail for being a “spy”. It took two years to get her out. The different factions inside Iran would say different things and pretend they didn’t have her.

Fr. This smells of desperation to claim any sort of win. “We’ve used the greatest army the worlds ever seen, to secure the greatest deal the US has ever even heard of. Fifty years, you heard it here first folks, FIFTY YEARS of free transport through the Straight of Hormuz for all US citizens. Not a single one of you will pay a penny. Nobody thought we could do it, they questioned WHY we would do it. Well they aren’t asking now! You won’t see the fake news loving media covering this - ZERO dollars, yes ZERO. The Iranians, they were so thankful, they released our prisoners - the fastest prisoner exchange the worlds ever seen. They said, ‘Thank you Mr. President’ for our help - they never thanked Barrak HUSSIEN Obama, I can tell you that. Fake news media won’t tell you that. Greatest victory the world has ever seen.”

Ok. Thats a good thing, potentially. Not sure why they’re detained and not already being sent to America but… yes that good thing. Is it worth all of this, abso-f******-lutely not!

First time im hearing of us having any POWs. But I know trump has even less respect for people that get captured (his own words) and so of course this has never been mentioned once
2
SHUT_DOWN_EVERYTHING 1 day ago +2
This is a no brainer. It’s a relatively c**** thing for Iran to agree to as they can always arrest more dual citizens. And Vance/Trump can claim credit for saving a handful of American citizens.

The fact that Iran got the USA to come to the negotiating table and actually have a strong hand is weirdly impressive.

“God, your people is indeed stupid” The f****** irony.
10
nu1stunna 1 day ago +12
It’s not f****** funny. You should be grateful that you live in a country where you have freedom to express yourself. They killed tens of thousands of my people just a few weeks ago. The Americans at question here are in a political prison and you’re here joking about America being a shit country to live in. It’s not remotely funny.
12
84Cressida 1 day ago +11
No use reasoning with these morons.

Late_Faithlessness24 1 day ago -4
I will do more joke about america just for you 🫶🏻
-4
Late_Faithlessness24 1 day ago +1
Living in a country that grants me freedoms doesn’t make it immune to criticism and jokes. The fact that its people once suffered under an oppressive regime doesn’t make the United States morally justified in the way it has been running its country and its foreign policy. (By the way, I’m not going to give you a free pass on that, hahaha) The more questionable the government is, the more we have to make jokes. Jokes come from absurdities, that’s where the humor lies. Donald Trump is turning the United States into a pitiful place, he deserves worse than a harmless joke. So my joke is really funny. In the next comment I will do two more jokes about America

Says the person trying to limit their freedom to express themselves
-2
nu1stunna 1 day ago +6
What a stupid comment. Did I arrest him and prosecute him for conspiracy to destabilize the country? Freedom of expression does not equate to freedom from social consequence.
6
Late_Faithlessness24 1 day ago +2
What social consequences should I face for my comments?
2
Final-Language7378 1 day ago -5
So you don’t actually value the concept free speech, you’re just using it as a talking point
-5
nu1stunna 1 day ago +9
You don’t really understand what free speech means do you?
9
Final-Language7378 1 day ago -2
Is it when you tell people they should shut their mouths because they have freedom of speech?
-2
Intrepid_Egg_7722 1 day ago +1
This is more of that conservative brain stupidity that criticizing someone's choice of speech is somehow attempting to limit that speech. Freedom of speech doesn't mean I get to say what I want and everyone has to like it, it just means the government can't punish me for my speech.
1
Final-Language7378 1 day ago
Unable to think independently outside of the framework that’s been vulgarized for your consumption?

Intrepid_Egg_7722 1 day ago +1
That's one of those thoughts you should turn inwards, my friend. You're repeating tired arguments that don't stand up to even cursory levels of scrutiny.

“Tens of thousands” The highest confirmed count, by the western based HRANA at that, is 7,007 including hundreds of dead security forces.
-1
nu1stunna 1 day ago +4
I bet you accepted Hamas’ death tolls without blinking. HRANA is not reputable, but even they confirmed 7k and are said to be investigating an additional 11k. Even if they are sincere, guess why they can’t verify: communications have been cut off for weeks at a time. Right now we are entering the 43rd consecutive day of an internet blackout. Plenty of news organizations have cited over 30k deaths. Pick one. These numbers were tallied by hospital workers across the country.

Iran’s own officials are the ones that said 30,000. https://time.com/7357635/more-than-30000-killed-in-iran-say-senior-officials/ And nice job trying to downplay it. As if 7000 isn’t also reprehensible

ICE has been rounding up the families of prominent Iranians and holding them in "detention pending removal." We'll have hostages to swap, but we might be the baddies.
-10
Thuradzon 1 day ago +4
They’re influential family members of the IRGC and Iranian power brokers elite. It’s going to be a prisoner swap. Their visas and asylum claims has been denied and revoked by the Secretary of State himself.
4
84Cressida 1 day ago +5
Except the Iranians here aren’t prisoners. Their green cards are being revoked and they are being asked to leave.
5
Thuradzon 1 day ago +2
They can be held for detention while awaiting processing.

These aren’t military personnel from the war. These are citizens and journalists that have been prisoners for years.
