There's not an ounce of honesty in that room. The outcome will absolutely be what's in the best interests of these people making money and not the Iranian or American people.

If you notice Trump didn’t go because he can then just blame it on Vance when he fails.
Trump is on the way to Florida rn.
Trump has an easy spot pattern, if there is a possibility of victory where he can take all of the credit, he’ll show face.
If there isn’t, he’ll send someone else as a delegate.

The Iranians requested Vance…

Trump still had to approve it though. If Trump knew victory was possible he would’ve declined that request

The Iranians also want to assassinate Trump. He might be too paranoid to go himself.

If that were the case, they would have met JD Vance go either there. If they had the capability to do that, what makes you think they won't do it to Vance? Do you not see the amount of hula hoops you're going through in your head to defend Trump here? LOL

I'm not trying to defend him at all, and it's well known the Iranians have a very long grudge list against him.

Got it three arguments defending him and you’re not 🤷♂️
And everyone has a grudge on him lol

What request?

InterstellarReddit1 day ago
To send Vance in his place. Iran requested Vance instead of Trump and Trump approved it.

I’m sure it’s that and not that Iran said they specifically want to talk to Vance 🙄💀

My bro look at Trump’s ego. Do you really think he’s gonna let Vance take credit for this? Like be for real

Doubt anything real comes from these talks. They’re too far apart and this two week ceasefire just feels like both sides buying time to prepare.

yup, it feels like a "all you can eat buffet" but instead of eating ... it's just bullshittin'. They will use the time to calm but game the markets and secretly/openly prepare for the sadly most likely inevitable outcome. Full blown war and terrorism followed by long term fudged world economy.

For the sake of everyone involved, I hope they are somehow successful.
Edit: Downvoted for saying I hope the negotiations are a success and the fighting ends, now that's just sad.

The downvotes are because it's not a reality-based expectation. Hoping the Trump admin will be successful in a *good faith* diplomatic negotiation is like hoping the pope will grow wings and fly.
It's a war of aggression in violation of international law. There is no successful "negotiation" to this that doesn't end in further damage to international human rights norms and institutions.
The bed has already been shat, so to speak. The odds of this having anything close to a normal resolution―much less one grounded in principles of good governance―is next to nil.

As Iran, I don't understand how you can expect a legitimate negotiation given Trump's impulsiveness, recklessness, and chaotic nature. Obviously Vance cannot guarantee ANYTHING.
As the US, I don't understand how you can expect anything reliable out of Iran given the power vacuum that exists in the county after dozens of their top leadership were assassinated and the compartmentalized nature of the IRGC and their military given said power vacuum.
What a shit sandwich.

How long until Iran realizes that Vance is an unqualified, uninformed, clueless dimwit?

They knew that already, and it's exactly why they asked for him.

Maybe a cynical take, but I believe someone will have to be nuked in this modern era of online media distribution, 4k coverage of the devastation, before a decent portion of humanity turns around and say "what the actual hell are we doing, something needs to change".

I've always thought we'd have to hit rock bottom before things get better. What that looks like, I don't know. Could be worse than a nuke.

Thats a win for you either way.
A)you get 500 dollar
Or
B) we get nuked and you don't have to pay.

It’s crazy to think I’m gonna wait to hear official reports from Iran before I really know what’s been discussed and agreed to.

You should probably wait to hear official reports from journalist that aren’t tied to US or Iran.

That’s not going to work. Forget reports altogether. You’ll just have to wait for days, weeks, or months to see what actions are actually taken. Words have become meaningless.
