Brent oil has risen above $100 per barrel again as tanker traffic through the strait remains at a near standsill.

Both sides are blocking the strait to prevent the other side from blocking the strait.

Meh, no great loss there... >Phelan had no military experience prior to his appointment by President Donald Trump in March 2025. He is a major art collector and Republican donor who has led private investment firms. [source](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2026/04/22/navy-secretary-john-phelan-iran-war.html)

He was a wealthy Trump donator with no military experience, who obviously authorized illegal boat strikes. No loss. Not that his replacement is any better, total nutter but at least has military experience.

Get Smart already did this. Kaos and Control both started kidnapping each other’s agents.

The editor really should've changed it to "devolves."

Eh, that suggests this is worse than what was going on before. Which was intense bombing all over the region. This is more like just a change as this conflict, yes, evolves into a new phase. I hate all of it but this is better than bombs and missiles every which way.

That implies that whatever conflict existed before was either larger or more structured than the current situation.

Once you understand that Trump only understands politics and geopolitics as a sports match or wrestling match, it’s easy to see how he views events like this. He is literally thinking about it like a scoreboard and if he seizes more ships he wins. Him being president of the US is peak stupidity of humanity

Not just who seizes more ships, but who gets the most upvotes and retweets.

The US just needs two more weeks! Opening the Strait of Hormuz, when it was already open prior to the US / Israel’s illegal war with Iran is going to turn into the cryptocurrency mass adoption timeline…. crypto just needs another 17 years for mass adoption!! 🤣🤡

Yes, didn’t we just pass Trump’s 2-3 week window for this war to end?

Iran can just sit there and wait. The rest of the globe is about to go into hyper oil shock. The price is artificially low to calm markets, and the levers to maintain that are running out. There's no oil on the high seas, its all delivered, or stuck...this is a situation with a lit fuse. I still fear that China is going to tell the US "we're sending 10 freighters through today, don't touch them" and our fatalistic leadership is going to manage to make a mess of that.

There's plenty of oil on the high seas it's just not going through the straight.

Iran can’t afford to sit down and wait for too long, their economy will collapse if they can’t sell oil in a couple of weeks. Oil production on Kharg island will stop without export, and their oil facilities will implode. The blockade of Iranian ports and seizure of Iranian oil tankers is a good strategy to force the mullahs to cut a deal that includes abandoning nuclear weapons, toll free Hormuz, limit on ballistic missiles and no more funding for proxies. China would rather put pressure on the mullahs to take a deal than confront the US navy.

That’s a false flag waiting to happen.

The US should just go home and take the L
4
Leftoverofferings 2 days ago +13
Then they would leave control of the strait to the Iranians. And they then have hold over the global economy. There is no good resolution. The best would be if Cheetolini wasn't stupid enough to start this.
13
DashingDino 2 days ago +3
Right now there's effectively a full blockade. The Iranians want to restore shipping while taking a cut, which is worse than how it was originally but still a massive improvement from what the situation is now

Second best is to take the L.

Maybe the new secretary will be stupid enough to sail our ships into a tiny kill box

So funny that Leavitt said Iran isn't violating the ceasefire because the ships were neither Israeli nor American. I guess Iran can just attack the Gulf states without violating the ceasefire as well then?
