They have the perfect idiot to lead the US into humiliation on the world stage. "No other president can do this shit" were his words, I believe. What an arrogant, stupid, vainglorious a******.

The US has never looked weaker or more impotent, of course they love this.  Funny thing is uneducated Americans think they look strong.

>Washington’s U.N. envoy Mike Waltz told reporters that any countries that “seek to throw it out, are setting a very, very dangerous precedent.” >“We have to ask ourselves, if a country chooses to oppose such a simple proposition, do they really want peace?” Good to know, Mike. > The U.S. on Thursday urged countries to support its United Nations resolution demanding Iran halt attacks and mining of the Strait of ‌Hormuz, but diplomats said China and Russia are likely to veto it. While that's *possible*, it's not a foregone conclusion that they *have* to veto. Earlier in the war, the UN Security Council successfully adopted [a resolution](https://docs.un.org/en/s/res/2817(2026)) condemning Iran and demanding Iran cease its attacks on the Gulf states, and China or Russia abstained from vetoing like usual. It's not very often China and Russia agree with the US on anything, but seems like they were having enough of Iran's BS that they could tolerate siding with the US. The whole world kind of shares a common interest in Iran not shutting down the strait and not blowing up its neighbors. China and Russia benefit from the Iran fighting with the US and depleting US stockpiles and drawing US attention away from their backyards (for which they have their own designs), but they don't want the strait blocked nor the gulf states being blown up by Iran.

I mean, china? Maybe. They care about the flow and price of oil, But why shouldn't Russia veto this? They like this chaos. While the fall or loss of Iran's regime is a very bad outcome for them, high oil prices and less arms for Ukraine is a good thing for them, right? Unless there is another factor here that I'm overlooking

Russia depends economically on China after Europe pushes them away. If Xi asks really nice Putin will fold

china wants the strait open, russia will be the one to veto if anyone is, as they benefit from high oil prices and are desperate for money to fund their own misadventure.

those resolutions do nothing anyway, no one abides them no one to enforce them, its just a PR move at best..

And Trump will say nothing. No rage about Russia and will continue to do everything to help them.

FYI: US is attacking Iran as we speak. Strikes reported in Qeshm, Bandar Abbas and now Tehran.

Is there's anyone out there, of any political belief or nationality, that actually thinks the UN is anything other than useless grandstanding at this point? What would we even lose getting rid of it?
