So we already know the talks are going to fail

hayjay2000 2 days ago +63
More like the talks aren't even going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they're cancelled sometime today or tomorrow.

No no, Friday. Need to take closing times into account.
47
YeetedApple 2 days ago +7
I knew the Tuesday deadline was too weird for any escalation to happen. They are gonna keep pushing bullshit hopium for the market until Friday, then probably announce the ceasefire is dead and go ahead with their attack once the markets close.
7
hayjay2000 2 days ago +1
I don't think the US will be the ones cancelling them. I think it will be Iran who does for 'ceasefire violations' likely by Israel. And I don't think they care about market close here

I don’t know, they have a lot of common ground: women’s rights, gays, treatment of protesters…

All they have to do is say thank you

T-Money is setting up his scapegoat. it's JD's war now.
8
Ludwigofthepotatoppl 1 day ago +1
He’ll 100% tell jd “you’re fired” like on that stupid show. Of course the president doesn’t have that power, but jv dunce will probably resign in the face of it.

Snoo-7148 2 days ago +3
If he arrives hog-tied with a bow on top the iranians might be more receptive.

i was gonna say, like y'all willing to be in the same room as some very f****** angry people with the level of shit fuckery going on in the world? goooooood luck with that. zoom meeting sounds a little more efficient there chief; where was DOGE on that one?

The US literally started this by murking IRGC leaders. Vance is probably (rightly) terrified of being the target of retaliation.

So the price of gas has nearly doubled, and rather than focusing on America first as they promised, our VP is campaigning for a foreign head of state? Make it make sense 🤦🏽‍♂️
42
trustifarian 2 days ago +26
Make it make sense? He lied. Trump lied. Because their base is easily manipulated.
26
NutsyFlamingo 2 days ago +2
Yeah they’re liars was very very much on the ballot before the election. The Dems spent what $2Billion in advertising that message? They won the electoral, popular vote and both houses.. this wasn’t just the base, majority of country are comfortable with it going in.
2
TemporarySun314 2 days ago +7
the US is trying to destabilize the EU. that is offical policy of the US now, and thats what Americans voted for with "America first". and in that policy it makes sense that vance is busy to campaign for another fascist who is one of the biggest blockages of euopes unity..

A Russian puppet head of state at that. This is not a drill, the KGB has the keys to the car.

I don't know that his aggrieved chiding will carry as well in Iran as it does with his MAGA base.
3

I can’t believe Iran would let him in especially after what happened to the Pope.

The first thing Vance is going to do is make the Iranians say “Thank You” for handing Iran complete control over the Straits of Hormuz.

They are sending Temu Neville Chamberlain to tweet “Peace in our time!” What a pathetic excuse

I can think of no one better to represent the average intelligence level of the current administration, that hasn't been fired already.

Some predicted that Trump would send JD for this negotiation and it turns out they were right. Now, let's see how this plays out. Would there be an agreement or will we get a JACO (JD variant of TACO)?
2
try_repeat_succeed 2 days ago +2
God damn, from what I’ve seen JD can only stonewall and escalate… Has he ever compromised or negotiated in good faith? I feel like if Trump did this meeting, there’d be a chance. This signals to me this war is not done.
2
cogitocool 2 days ago +1
If Trump did this? Are you sure about that one?
1
try_repeat_succeed 2 days ago +1
Did you see him looking up to his sworn enemy of the months prior Mamdani in the oval office, or that he agreed to fund housing. He'd probably give into Iran's demands if they buttered him up sufficiently, but there would be peace. With JD Vance there's no chance of peace because the man lives to be opportunistic, contradictory, and combative. He'd rather see the world burn than compromise for peace. I do find it interesting that he is doing it. At the start of the war they were hiding Vance and limiting his association with the war, to protect his future potential as a presidential candidate i assume.

Great. The biggest, most submissive, p**** of all time leading the talks.
2

Ah, so they send an assassin. First the pope - then iranian leadership.
2
zetaphi938 2 days ago +2
So, Trump will say peace is inevitable and talks went well and then sometime around 9:30 EST after multiple high level trades have been made on Monday, it will all go to shit again.
2
Redtex 2 days ago +2
Man, how did he piss off Trump?

the news media is just state propaganda and shouldn't be taken at face value. The fact that everyone is taking the trump regime seriously is frustrating when they have been lying and it's all market manipulation. However, oil is a real resource and eventually we are going to have a shortage and it's going to be a full blown crisis. This is like pre-covid when the average American was going about like normal while the world was feeling the full brunt of Covid. The oil shortages happenings in Japan and other places are going to hit us as we burn through our reserves. My family was quarantining before things got serious then, and implore anyone reading this to prepare themselves for panic buying of gas and prices reaching unsustainable levels.

How's this going to work when both sides are basing off their crease-fire agreement on a completely opposite list of non-negotiable demands??  And it's not like the US had been particularly good about following through on agreements, and even used talks previously as a ruse to buy time when they were already intent on attacking Iran from the beginning.
1
EatinSumGrapes 2 days ago +1
It's better than Trump, literally anything looks like a god compared to him. Biden was pretty useless but Biden looks better than Lincoln next to Trump. Vance knew this too, he sold his soul for it, but he will look like another Reagan to Republicans after Trump is gone
1

Well that’s a relief. I was worried they’d send a total idiot.

If negotiations don't stall out, Vance will really earn a feather in his cap - and it's a big show of faith from the US to send the VP to negotiate. It certainly means they're taking it seriously. If Trump doesn't finish his term, I don't think I'd be too disappointed in a Vance caretaker presidency.
