Trump: "We're 99% of the way to a deal where we get everything we want." Iran: "We won't even talk to you."

Sub-Mongoloid 23 hr ago +130
Eerily similar to how he pursues women.

Grab em by the diplomacy or something
48
Sub-Mongoloid 23 hr ago +38
Diplomussy, sorry.

Silky_Mango 23 hr ago +15
He’s out of line but he’s right
15
moofie74 22 hr ago +6
Goddamn it you’re right.

Meanwhile Iran grabbed him by his Hormuz. He's easy to bully if you're not a 14 year old girl.

> women. and young girls.

munchi333 22 hr ago -25
You’re falling for Iran propaganda, good one.
-25
AcidaliaPlanitia 22 hr ago +18
Lmao what? The first one is pretty much a direct quote from Trump, and we know for a fact they're miles apart on key points. F*** Iran and all, but Trump is blatantly lying to the entire world.
18
leyland1989 20 hr ago +11
You gotta admit the PR and propaganda machine behind Trump has been extremely effective and successful... As a non-american, the most fascinating part about all these is not how stupid Trump is, it's how the people who support him keep interpreting his demented mumbles as something of genius or intelligence. Calling out naysayers as brainwashed/woke while they are falling for Trump's propaganda without even realising it.
11
srhMayheM 23 hr ago +36
Shouldn’t Rubio be doing this shit?
36
oneofthehumans 22 hr ago +20
I would think so. It sure as hell shouldn’t be Kushner, I know that. Why would Iran want to talk to the presidents idiot son in law
20
urania3 21 hr ago +12
You would think so. But Iran doesn't want to deal with Rubio, he's too much of a hawk. My understanding is Iran requested Vance specifically, as he is the only real dove about oversea military operations.
12
SilentRhubarb1515 20 hr ago +2
Also he’s actually competent, they want to deal with the clown car directly
2
ProbablySlacking 21 hr ago +1
He’s too busy being the Easter bunny.

Probably they concluded that being bombed is more preferable than dealing with this administration.
197
ElTejon_TheDestroyer 1 day ago +54
You say it like it is either/or
54
cybaz 23 hr ago +23
At least this way they get bombed without having listen to JD Vance ask why they didn't say thank you.
23
Romanopapa 19 hr ago +5
By being bombed, there’s at least a slim chance of not dying. But meeting with JD Vance….
5
lateread9er 1 day ago +35
They will get threatened regardless of a deal. This guy blows with the wind. Everything he touches makes us worse off.
35
PaleInTexas 23 hr ago +20
Well.. this administration also bombs people who show up for negotiations so.. 🤷🏼‍♂️
20
terrorrier 22 hr ago +4
Can’t deal with liars who never pay up.
4
putin_my_ass 23 hr ago +3
As if dealing with this administration means you *won't* get bombed.
3
lgx 22 hr ago +3
Or they found they had cards
3
Skeeter_206 21 hr ago
They always knew they did, they wanted to work towards a peace deal because they respect Pakistan and China and that's what those countries preferred. However Trump decided he would institute a full blockade on their ports during peace talks, which is a blatant act of aggression, so I'm not sure how anyone expects the ceasefire to continue.
0
tophergraphy 21 hr ago +2
Wonder if they're intentionally dicking around here - they know Trump is going to claim victory, and then backtrack, and rinse and repeat... eventually even fox news watchers will be confused why this thing is still going on months later.
2
Eagle1337 16 hr ago +1
I mean they got bombed twice while talking, what's going to happen the third time? Not get bombed?
1
niknacks 1 day ago +62
JD has to be stoked he doesn't get to fail on the world's stage again
62
Marijuana_Miler 18 hr ago +10
At this point you might believe Vance likes being embarrassed in public.
10
sleeplessinreno 23 hr ago -18
He needs to go back to the senate where he belongs. Edit: lol y'all give the VP of the US more credit than they're worth.
-18
revolvingpresoak9640 23 hr ago +40
He doesn’t belong in government at all. He should be changing someone’s oil at most.
40
Blackwidow_Perk 23 hr ago +16
Like I’d even let him touch my car I heard what he does to furniture
16
jondubb 22 hr ago +4
"Nothing wrong with a little bit of me lubricating your pistons" - Vance, probably
4
sleeplessinreno 23 hr ago -2
Sure man, but unfortunately he’s the vice president. And the vice president’s one and only duty is to be the speaker of the senate. Jimbo, is lucky they let him leave the house.
-2
gmen6981 22 hr ago +3
Ohioan here, No thanks. We already have the corrupt used car salesman and former Lieutenant Governor who was part of the largest corruption scandal in State history. We sure as Hell don't want the couch f***** back.
3
sleeplessinreno 22 hr ago
Trumpty dumpty, can send him on as many field trips he wants. However, based on the US’s own laws, Iran, or any other nation, is under no obligation to recognize him as a vassal of the state. So, unless grandpa or baby Marco wanna show up to the table and be serious; nothing is going to get done.

He's been grounded by Trump.

If only the United States and Iran had telephones or videophones or any other technology to make direct (or indirect) communications possible without meeting in Pakistan. Such a shame.
42
cutcss 1 day ago +21
Is it really a diplomatic talk if you don't fear at least a little that your enemies will try to poison you during the meeting?
21
TaintedPaladin9 21 hr ago +6
Eh historically killing diplomats or emissaries is a good way to have your land salted.
6
BlackNova169 18 hr ago +3
Didn't we drop a missile on one of Iran's diplomats /leaders during his first term?

The future of the world and world war 3 hangs in the balance while JD Vance says "can you see my screen?" While Kushner chimes in with " I think you're on mute"
12
jazir55 22 hr ago +1
>If only the United States and Iran had telephones or videophones or any other technology to make direct (or indirect) communications possible without meeting in Pakistan. Two cans and a string is the best they can do
1

Iran leadership isn't going to reveal their IP address and GPS location after two previous bombings during negotiations
1
HarEr89 1 day ago +22
The IRGC have the real power and are running the show in Iran.
22
Easik 1 day ago +13
If he isn't headed there already, then there probably isn't anymore talks happening. Iran says it will resume attacks if the blockade is still in effect at the end of the ceasefire. The US also claims it's "locked and loaded", so I guess more attacks are coming in the next 24 hours.
13
CutTheCrapDotCom 19 hr ago +4
Why would the Iranians engage in peace talks? They didn't start this war and clearly have the upper hand.
4
macross1984 23 hr ago +6
Don't bother sending Vance. It'll be a waste of time.
6
Guilty_Flan_96 23 hr ago +3
It’s also offending. I’m not even joking
3
Idiot_Savant_13 19 hr ago +3
Is anyone really surprised that the Bone Spurs administration is having trouble gaining or grokking basic "consent"?
3
lgx 22 hr ago +5
Now we know who has the cards and who desperately wants a deal
5
Boys4Ever 1 day ago +18
Seems perhaps Iran wanting to hurt us financially and politically have figured out getting bombed and keeping the strait closed works. Longer this last the more pain we incur and that can’t be good come midterms. Only card left is to beg them to end what we started. The irony.
18
Aliensinmypants 23 hr ago +11
I mean the terms of the past ceasefires and agreements haven't been kept. We are basically asking them to give in to what we want while offering nothing in return... It doesn't take a genius strategist to figure that out, it's just horrible for the regular folks involved
11
Boys4Ever 23 hr ago +1
Bombing them to take advantage of a gathering while still under negotiations does leave a bad taste and why I was surprised when this ceasefire was signed yet not surprised when Israel kept dropping bombs in Lebanon. How does anyone trust each other after that. He can lie and declare victory. Technically has. Time to pull up anchor and get our kids back. Not like his will ever see action.
1
Corporatecut 1 day ago +6
I hope they try to bribe him with a sectional
6
Dry_Werewolf_1597 1 day ago +14
What has the administration done to foster trust with the Iranians?
14
BOHIFOBRE 1 day ago +20
Or anyone else on earth?
20
Kendertas 23 hr ago +10
What do mean? Are you saying that there are consequences to suprise bombing them the last two times they where negotiating with the US? Or unilaterally pulling out of the last deal Iran spent two years negotiating, and was complying with?
10
troncalonca 1 day ago +6
Attacked an iranian ship during the truce?
6
fec2245 1 day ago -5
Iran attacked ships as well…
-5
Aliensinmypants 23 hr ago +8
Because the US didn't lift their blockade when Iran agreed to open the Strait. The US is trying to create so much chaos that they make Iran look bad again, when it's them and Israel that's f****** the agreements up
8
fec2245 23 hr ago +2
I would think attacking an Indian tanker going between from Iraq and India would be considered sowing chaos. Maybe if Iran doesn’t want to look bad they shouldn’t have done it
2
Aliensinmypants 23 hr ago +5
Because they got tricked into allowing traffic through the strait under false pretenses... The US should hold up their end of the bargain if they want to be taken seriously
5
fec2245 23 hr ago
They didn’t get tricked, what are you talking about? The US didn’t announce ending the blockade. Iran’s FM announced the strait was open and got immediate pushback from IRGC aligned sources.
0
Aliensinmypants 23 hr ago +6
What are you talking about? Why would Iran agree to open the strait if the whole world can use it except for them??
6
fec2245 22 hr ago +2
I’m describing what happened, you can speculate what the FM’s strategy was. Or maybe DM him
2
Aliensinmypants 22 hr ago +4
Sure I totally believe you were in the room or got briefed. Iran closed the strait again immediately after the US announced their blockade would remain in place after the deal. Implying that terms were not kept
4
rabidstoat 1 day ago -2
They haven't fostered trust either.
-2
Dry_Werewolf_1597 22 hr ago +3
The US called it diplomacy. Iran called it a trap. Then we proved them right
3
fec2245 23 hr ago -3
So should the US refuse to participate in peace talks?
-3
rabidstoat 21 hr ago -1
No. Merely pointing out that if attacking during a ceasefire doesn't foster trust for Iran, neither does it foster trust when the US does it.
-1
fec2245 21 hr ago +2
So you think it'd be justified if Trump refused to negotiate because the IRGC shot at the Indian tankers? Almost all wars end in negotiations, they're usually not high trust environments.
2
rabidstoat 19 hr ago +1
Nope. I think they should negotiate, the trick is finding something that they can both tout as a win. But settling the conflict in negotiation would be better than with bombs.

Why would Trump end the war before his meeting with China? He wants to hold the Straight of Hormuz as a bargaining chip.
1
RuffTuff 14 hr ago +1
Iran currently holds the strait of Hormuz. It didn’t before now it does. Also … this war is on because Trump wanted a bargaining chip against China for this visit? That is the worst geo political strategy ever. Ai chips, Taiwan, Japan, the indo-pacific, India as leverage are all leveraged trump could use….. but here we are
