Vancouver Islanders join others in U.S., Europe rallying in third global 'No Kings' protests
Large crowds protested Saturday against the war in Iran and President Donald Trump's actions in “No Kings” rallies across the U.S. and in Europe. Minnesota took center stage, with thousands of people standing shoulder-to-shoulder to celebrate resistance to Trump's aggressive immigration enforcement.

Who knows, maybe they are anti-monarchy.

Vancouver island, Victoria specifically, is probably one of the most pro monarchy cities in Canada.

Freudian_Slitter Mar 29, 2026
Maybe the old people here, but most of us young folk oppose monarchies

Subjects of the King of Canada protesting the elected president of a different country as a king. Dearie me.

Uh, we are allowed to not like having a king. Centralizing power in one person, even a “ceremonial” person, is stupid. Making the protests “about Trump” is stupid, but f*** kings, elected or otherwise.

NickPrefect Mar 29, 2026 +1
No Tyrants would be a better name for these protests.

pjgf Mar 29, 2026 +1
No, f*** Kings. Nobody is born better than others.

I’m assuming you’re Canadian. What would you have in place of our present system?

I don't know if I should feel sorry or should I laugh at protesters outside of the US that are non US citizens. Pathetic either way.

It is apperantly organized by democrats abroad  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2025_No_Kings_protests I have never heard about it. We are living in a functional democracy so I don't see the need. So mostly US immigrants protesting outside the US embassy. We prefer that immigrants integrate and leave their domestic problems in their home country.

Well if they protested in the US, taco would just send his gestapo to kill them in "self defense"

I'm embarrassed for the people who participate in these protests here in Canada. The best possible outcome is nothing, since it's well out of our jurisdiction or power to change. The worst outcome is it fires up toxic political strife domestically. A situation where it is impossible to gain anything, but very possible to lose something, is a stupid situation to get into. These people have been sipping the American media koolaid for so long that they think US politics are \*their\* politics. I'm sick of it.

how much are they paying you to write this drivel?

Oh, sorry, are a handful of Canadians holding signs in a country that Trump has been threatening going to change the US administration?

lollipop999 Mar 29, 2026 +2
Who says they're Canadians?

Spare_Key102 Mar 29, 2026
As an American I think it holds power to see other countries believe the conditions in our country f****** blow.

RhubarbAfter4008 Mar 29, 2026 +6
As a Canadian I think you guys need to sort your shit out, because we have zero power to do it for you. What we can do is shift our alliances and trade partnerships. What we can't do is foreign regime change.

The9isback Mar 29, 2026 -6
The conditions in YOUR country f****** blow? Your country is literally bombing other countries and you think YOUR conditions blow?

our fight against Trump and all tyranny is a shared struggle with every worker in every country, including Canada, and vice versa. the protestors understand that.

RhubarbAfter4008 Mar 29, 2026 +6
They'd be better off trading their colourful signs for Canadian Armed Forces or reserve forces application forms.

>Vancouver Islanders crowded Centennial Square on Saturday for the third No Kings protest against the Trump administration. >Another protest occurred in Toronto on Saturday. >Demonstrations were also planned in more than a dozen other countries, from Europe to Latin America to Australia >In countries with constitutional monarchies, people call the protests “No Tyrants,” >In Rome, thousands marched with defiant chants aimed at Premier Giorgia Meloni, whose conservative government saw its referendum for streamlining Italy’s judiciary fail badly this week amid criticism that it was a threat to the courts’ independence. Protesters also waved banners protesting Israeli and US attacks on Iran, calling for “A world free from wars.” >And in Paris, several hundred people, mostly Americans living in France, along with labor unions and human rights organizations, gathered at the Bastille. “I protest all of Trump’s illegal, immoral, reckless, and feckless, endless wars,” rally organizer Ada Shen said.

> In countries with constitutional monarchies, people call the protests “No Tyrants,” f****** hilarious. In a country with no king and absolute freedom of speech they say ‘no kings’, while in countries with speech laws and actual kings they alter their message so they don’t get arrested for speech.  > Protesters also waved banners protesting Israeli and US attacks on Iran, calling for “A world free from wars.” Ah yes, make sure you defend the Ayatollah  and IRGC while you’re at it. Wouldn’t want anyone to mistake you for someone who has watched 45 years of an Islamic fundamentalist regime wage war on the west as well as its own population.  Just call it the dipshit numb nuts uprising already and get it over with

Nobody would get arrested for saying No Kings in Canada, but using that could get the movement co-opted by small r republicans.

Do they have one planned for Kharg Island?

We have a King in Spain and we should all wish DJT was behaving like him. No dictators.
-4
Any_Inflation_2543 Mar 29, 2026 -2
Canada also has a King, but an actual King who behaves like one, unlike Trump. God Save the King! 🇨🇦

KimberlyWexlersFoot Mar 29, 2026 +3
Nah f*** Chuck too.

Monicreque Mar 29, 2026 -1
That's what I mean. I despise kings as well but Trump is not behaving as a European monarch, he is much closer to a banana republic dictator.

PottedPickup Mar 29, 2026 -9
The third global complete waste of time. The entire loonie-left can wet their pants all day long "protesting"....nobody cares about their whining.

Beginning-Wish-4273 Mar 29, 2026 -9
“ No Kings ” popping up across countries says a lot about the moment we’re in. Different issues, same underlying frustration with concentrated power. When slogans travel this easily, it’s usually not random.

bagge Mar 29, 2026 +12
I have never heard about this. It seems to be organized by "democrats abroad" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2025_No_Kings_protests I can't even remember that it made the news. So this is clearly mostly Americans protesting outside of the US embassy. No mass protests, and why would it? we live in a functional democracy after all. In general, I prefer that immigrants integrate and leave their problems from their home country in their home country.

RhubarbAfter4008 Mar 29, 2026 +4
\> In general, I prefer that immigrants integrate and leave their problems from their home country in their home country.  Yeah, when you put it like that, this is no different from Eritreans fighting Ethiopians in a Calgary parking lot over African elections. Not our battle.

Bruvvimir Mar 29, 2026 +2
Absolutely. Americans should leave their discord and hatred at home, and not spread it around the world.

Who isn’t protesting Trump?
-9
MordauntSnagge Mar 29, 2026 -9
I could understand the French Canadians joining in, but high treason in British Columbia? Shocking.
-9
One-Engineering-4505 Mar 29, 2026 +4
Im pretty sure its referred to as "No tyrants" in BC to sidestep the issue that we actually do have a king currently but aren't really in any hurry to be removed from the commonwealth.
4
RhubarbAfter4008 Mar 29, 2026 -7
Protesting against a foreign dictator isn't treason, but it is obviously ineffective and embarrassing.
-7
SpiritedMolasses4402 Mar 29, 2026 -1
The colonisers don't want their land recolonised lol. I mean all Canadians are descended from British/French Colonisers.
